Does a blow out against the Eskimos cost MOS his job?
Well this is the kiss of death right here. Not happening this week, but opens the door to MOS firing in future. You can't actually close the door after this. So, ya, I'd say blowout in Eskville, MOS gone. And rightly so. Darrin Bauming Retweeted gary lawless @garylawless 4h4 hours ago any speculation about staffing changes with #bombers is premature. not happening at this juncture #bombers sources #cfl

New QB Communications Rule
I can see where it would be useful in a hurry-up, no huddle. And a downside risk it sucks rhythm out of the offence if they'e huddling before each snap. Has anyone noticed how long it usually takes Winnipeg to put the ball in play after breaking huddle?

GDT: Edmonton @ Winnipeg
Exactly. Since being anointed starting QB for Winnipeg in 2014 Willy has played 28 games. And he has thrown 27 TDs. That is almost one whole touchdown per game, just about. But not quite.

How long is Willy's leash?
Due to poor play and lack of production Buck Pierce, current QB coach, lost his starting QB job to Justin Goltz in 2012. Paul Lapolice was head coach at that time. Now those two fantastic winners, Pierce and Lapolice, are guiding Drew 'Two-N-Out' Willy. This is the context. What do people expect?

Week 3 (vs Ham...Now With Depth Chart)
Very exciting and entertaining game. Neither QB was very good. But thanks to Andrew Harris and the Defence - a win!

Eric from Bomber Buzz analyzed every single play of the Calgary game
I learned much from this analysis. Thanks! Would love to see more of this kind of thing.

No more patience. ....
Rod Rust coached in the CFL a long time and his record as head coach is 1-15 (although that was with the Patriots in 1990 I believe). Needless to say he never got the chance to turn it around anywhere else as head coach.

Where Does Willy rank?
It's the CFL. Your team goes as your QB goes and it's that simple. You don't win consistently in this league with the 10th or 12th best QB in the league as your starter. You win a few, here and there. But mostly you lose.

So who's worth keeping?
Keeping is worth keeping. (Veteran OL help in second half of the season, once rehabbed and off the IR).

How we go 16 - 2 the rest of the way ...
Won't be sporting a #5 jersey. But if Bombers run an up-tempo no-huddle much of the time Mr 2+Out might do better. MOS was making noises about that. You wear down the D that way, don't give them time to substitute or recover between plays. There's no way we go 16-2 from here. But O might complete a few drives here and there by not gobbling the entire 20-sec clock between snaps. You know, score some points. That'd be a start.

Odds and Sods - Game 2 - Bombers at Stamps
If I recall correctly, defence and ST scored needed points in 3 of those games in early 2014 via kick returns or I/Cs for TDs. Those points were crucial since if we had relied on the O to score enough points to win - we'd have lost. Not all of those 6 - 7 wins (so long ago now) can be attributed to great achievement at the QB position. Bombers got a treat as D and ST provided much-needed scoring - C. Randle and Demond W were outstanding.

Which week does O'Shea get canned?
He will be ST coordinator somewhere, probably Toronto. Although teams were substandard there last time he was ST honcho: http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/cfl/special-teams-a-concern-for-argonauts

No more patience. ....
Just cut him outright then. He might have limited success elsewhere as a back-up but at least you're rid of that ridiculous contract and can focus on helping better, younger, talents become the face of the franchise. That might be painful too - but not as painful as watching Troy Kopp ll bumble around.

Odds and Sods - Game 2 - Bombers at Stamps
He has poor situational awareness, also known as pocket presence. Which, for a straight drop-back passer is a recipe for injury. Strange they don't give him a half-roll or different launch points to throw from. That would take some pressure off the O-line. The O-line has not looked too bad though, IMHO.

No more patience. ....
Willy isn't fast enough mentally or physically to be a starter in this league. Lulay might benefit from a change of scene but we need a long term solution at QB. Willy should be benched in favour of Nichols and, down the road, if Nichols, who is quicker and more mobile, can't succeed with this Lapo offence then at least give Davis and Bennett some reps before we blow everything up and start all over in 2017.

Next Coach
Barf. Lapo is a charlatan who is contributing to the myriad of problems Bombers have right now. And the guys who hired him - Walters and MOS - are obviously too clued out to realize this.
-
Next Coach
Hopefully the next HC will be an ex-QB. That formula seems to work in the CFL.

Drew Willy
Ooohh Hurl was completely lost and seriously behind the play vs Als, the few times he saw the field. Moving the pocket around or a more mobile QB with some pocket presence might be a better solution.

Drew Willy
The clip on this thread doesn't show how much time had elapsed on the 20 second clock. All I know is I was sitting in the stands thinking oh no the D is getting ready to stack the line but Pierce didn't see it. Even I saw it and I'm just a fan. He had time to change the play and throw a screen to the RB. But he didn't.
-
Drew Willy
The QB always has the option of changing the play and making pre-snap adjustments depending on what he sees in the D formation.
-
Drew Willy
QB should've read the blitz, called a revision (audible), and screened to the RB. What's so complicated about that? It's on the QB and his failure to see it coming.
