  1. Don't be surprised if Jones declares Brandon Bridge the starter. He is more athletic than KG.
  2. I don't like any of these guys are returners - too much risk of injury for so-so results on the return. Lankford isn't it either. We miss McDuffie. There's no one on this roster right now who could be considered a legit return threat. I know Lankford did it vs Sask but that was pre-season. Therefore, yes, leave Lankford off and for sure dress Yachison. And then go and find a legit returner. Unless that is Thorpe, when healthy.
  3. I wonder if Poop decided to go with jersey #67 since that is the exact number of tackles he got as a senior at Kentucky http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/article122090264.html If that is the equation - tackles = jersey number - then let's hope next year he switches to #99!

  5. I see what you're saying but maintain the overall LB talent level was better last year - which is surprising since you have MOS and Walters and I daresay Wade Miller as the braintrust. I would expect to see 3-4 formation sometimes. We saw that vs Edm last Thurs. Carmichael took considerable reps at SAM during TC if I am not mistaken. I remember seeing Waggonner take a few (albeit very few) turns at LB last season. He will be missed mainly on ST. There is going to be a lot of interchangeability on this defence between DL and LB positions viz ratio. So they are probably stronger on the D line this year (hoping Westerman can be as effective as he was in 2015) but not so much at LB. Hopefully Wild and Leggett can stay healthy.
  6. I know. He comes to our TC and dogs it. Then snapped up in an instant by Esks. Makes you wonder. Did Bombers pay him a signing bonus?
  7. You're giving him too much pre-beatdown credit. He never was CFL starter calibre. A few early wins in 2014 (pre-shellshock) were due to D and ST scoring not QB play.
  8. Just saying the overall LB talent is weaker.
  9. Indeed so. As was Harold Nash for Wpg:
  10. Ya, that's what we need. Opposing RBs blocked by a wall of Poop and major s**tstorm in the backfield.
  11. Just my opinion but looking at the roster as it stands after the final cuts I am not 100% sure it is an upgrade from last year. In some positions we look to be worse. For sure Lefevour at QB is an upgrade over Willy - otherwise the QB crew is a wash. RB is a wash. But IMHO Hurl Knox and Carmichael at LB does not come close to making up for the loss of Bass Burnett and Waggonner. Lankford is not as good as McDuffie and we are going to feel that on the return game and field position. Yes, JFG is an upgrade from Kohlert but folks - we knew that last year. Nevis is an upgrade to Shologan and probably it is safe to say Tristan O and Jackson Jeffcoat are an improvement over Adrian Hubbard - what happened to him anyway? I guess we can pray that Poop will rise to the top. Not sure who is going to replace Ryan Smith at SB, if it is Lankford I don't call that an upgrade. Across the secondary it remains to be seen if Alexander and Walker can compensate for the loss of Posey CJ Roberts and Frederick. I think we are stronger on ST chase-down and contain with the addition of Rush Miles and Miller although the loss of Burnett and Waggonner there will be felt. Can't see how management will be satisfied to sit tight with this roster. Sincerely hoping more changes/additions will be forthcoming. Not crapping on management or anything, just trying to temper my playoff hopes with a reality check. West Div is tough.
  12. He never was a CFL calibre QB. A few wins early wins in 2015 were all due to defence and special teams scoring. MOS and Walters arrogantly kept him around. Same arrogance looks to be giving us Hurl at MLB.
  13. they can have him - prima donna.

  16. There's no Justice.
  17. Game tracker on CFL site says MB-T threw 5 completions and 8 incomplete passes in first half vs Ham.
  18. Yes. That is a good description of what happened. It is a sequence of events less likely to occur when you have film on your opponent and can anticipate tendencies.
  19. I see things differently on the replay. Thomas for sure got pushed back and he was partly double-teamed. Then he was illegally held, but no call on the hold. Perkins release through the gap couldn't be blamed entirely on Thomas though. Hurl got boxed out because his reaction time was too slow. And Bruce Johnson had the wrong angle for his lateral pursuit - also because he was too slow to react.
  20. He was in for a few plays in Q1. Pointed him out to my seatmate. "There's Poop." But you're right. They didn't use him much. He got slight pressure on Franklin once or twice stuffing up the middle and snagged the RB on one run.
  21. Johnson burned for 2 TDs last night. One pass and one where he blew the angle on the Perkins 49 yard run. Although to be fair, Hurl and Westerman also were trapped on the Perkins run.
  22. I hope we can do better than Lankford on returns. Thorpe - the knee did not look good. Which is too bad because I wanted to see what he had. Won't be surprised though, if he is done.
  23. Was at the game. Bombers O line is in good form, hope they stay healthy. The running game is excellent - Harris and Flanders took full advantage of the gaps created by the line. Overall, the offence looking pretty sharp. Conversely, the defence is woeful. Last year they relied on turnovers but gave up the big play. If anything, this group looks to have regressed. Virtually no pressure up front or contain. Esks rook QB Kline reminded me of Tom WIlkinson - pudgy little fella but put heat on the ball in a way Wilkie never gcould. He had all day back there to throw. Hurl is not good enough to play MLB, Edmonton's O line was batting him around like a flea and he was either out of popsition or too slow to react to the play. Not sure if it is poor personnel or poor coaching but if I was MOS/Walters I'd be pretty worried right now after what I have seen of the D vs Riders and Esks. Honestly, I don't see this team making the playoffs with this D - it's bad.
