  1. A little more relevant for the NFL where you have 3 downs to get 10 yards but not entirely off base for the CFL. The changes to illegal contact/pass interference have made "locking down" receivers far more challenging - if you don't get pressure on the QB relatively quickly there will be an open receiver. In the CFL I think defensive sets that give QB's more lower percentage/higher reward looks might be more optimal.

I mean... when the guy first showed up in the league he looked REALLY good... but then broke his leg badly. Won his job in competition with Reilly... and then tore his ACL in preseason (at which point Reilly had clearly established himself as the starter. If Nichols had never broken his leg/tore his ACL there is a reasonable probability he would still be the starting QB in Edmonton right now.

Definitely agree the hit wasn't dirty... I mean he was diving for a loose ball and bad luck put Glenn's arm in a place to get broken
  4. Hey that would be a thing.... Nichols gets hurt in the west final, Glenn finishes out the game and goes to win the grey cup he should of won in 2007. However, I think it somewhat unlikely that SSK will be playing for the Grey Cup this year

  7. If that's the case they came damn close to getting treated two weeks in a row.... might get expensive for Wylie
  8. The thing is - Willy had some of the same opportunities to push the ball downfield that Nichols has taken... he just consistently missed open targets when he had the deep ball opportunities. If a team doesn't feel like the opposing QB is going to burn them downfield (which Willy showed he was increasingly gun shy in trying to do) they just tee up on the short stuff.
  9. Generally I would agree, but I mean the guy has to realize that his contract was based on him starting for the team throughout the season. In his current position I would almost welcome the proposal to restructure... given that if the Bombers don't restructure it is almost certain that he will be cut... with any offers from teams looking to pick him up being nowhere near what he is currently making, nor likely to even match what I expect the Bombers will offer in a restructured contract (which will likely end up with a much smaller base salary and options to increase back up to 400k if he starts some games)

Wasn't it a couple years ago where the Bombers tried to run a consistent high-tempo offense and the ref's would take eons to blow the ball into play, thereby completely cancelling the advantage of up-tempo. I vaguely remember the league changing something to make up tempo more possible recently.

  12. I'd argue that wasn't a perfect pass... anytime a receiver needs to catch the ball one handed from over his shoulder while at a full sprint there was problems with the pass. I'll agree that if the ball is thrown with any less steam there is a good chance the defender is able to break up the play... but that tells you that the receiver was basically not open other than by making an insane play (I.E. you can't really be upset with the DB on that play)
  13. At the end of the 3rd quarter Calgary had the ball for almost DOUBLE the amount of time we had the ball. You could say our defense wasn't getting off the field, but really it was our offense not staying on the field.

I mean... Sure his Targetted vs. received for 2015 was 8-10% lower than the other 5 top receivers in total yards. I would trade 10 % more drops than average (average for the best receivers in the league by yards) for a receiver who has averaged 1350 yards in the last two years. I mean we've struggled to find a 1000+ yard receiver since he left.... I will admit that I've mostly only watched him when playing against Winnipeg and I seem to be remembering the games where he had caught 70% of the many many passes thrown to him (and that includes passes where the QB simply missed)

When he was here.... in Edmonton the guy has been an absolute beast with rock solid hands... frustrating as all mother**** actually
  18. I would bet that Mr. Messam felt out of place in a small city like Regina, and would have been gone at the end of the year anyways. The Rider faithful were likely chafing that McCallum had to be brought back to a team that dumped him so unceremoniously. Also... isn't McCallum like 800 years old?
  19. I gotta think that Picard's snaps are part of the reason we are having so much trouble with blitz packages this year. Generally, if you make the right read; have the right protection; and your receivers adjust their route correctly (go hot), the QB still barely gets the ball off in time to avoid being a target for a big hit. Picard's snaps taking an eternity to get to the QB has basically meant that our QB's get nailed consistently on blitzes because everything they are doing takes that much longer after when the defense can start going for the QB
  20. Ottawa is definitely not a pushover this year... just inconsistent Thanks for doing this. BC definitely has the most difficult schedule of the 3. I'd say it's a toss up between us and Montreal after that. Looking at your chart, I like our chances though!
