Technically a player can only be released if he is healthy. Even in the off season. A player with off season roster bonuses that is injured still must be paid. He can be released at the training camp medical the following season when he fails the medical.

Tough for non cfl players to come in and play right away. The biggest adjustment for them is the waggle of the slots. They aren't accustom to someone coming at them full speed at the LOS.

He was hurt last year at camp, came back for about 2 days at practice and was done for the season last year....Then not sure if he was being hidden on the IR or hurt again and then last 2 plays.....

The option year letter basically only has to say we are picking up the option on your contract. It has to be given to or sent out to a player by a specific date.

I think the length of time is arbitrary and actual issue is some element of experience. It goes back to what qualities, skill set and requirements to you set out for the position.
