I read that many provinces, states and local communities have asked previous health care workers to come out of retirement to help with this grievous situation, and many are returning to help. And good on them. Much appreciated. In the US, have they thought about asking previous Presidents to return?

Exactly why the article was posted...to show the other side of the story. Results? To be determined..

And then there’s the other side: April 9th, 7 hours ago Sweden has a relatively high case fatality rate: as of April 8, 7.68% of the Swedes who have tested positive for COVID-19 have died of the virus. Neighboring countries, like Norway and Denmark, have case fatality rates of 1.46% and 3.85% respectively. (The U.S. case fatality rate is 3.21%.) While Sweden’s elevated case fatality rate could be a result of its low testing rates compared to its neighbors, experts say Sweden’s laissez-faire approach could also be to blame. “We think there is no scientific evidence for their strategy,” says Cecilia Söderberg-Nauclér, an expert in microbial pathogenesis who signed the letter. She says the government has been reluctant to share its data with scientists, leading her to believe that the government’s strategy is “not based on evidence.”A head doctor at a major hospital in Sweden says the current approach will “probably end in a historical massacre.” He says healthcare workers at his hospital who have tested positive for the virus but are asymptomatic have been advised to continue working. He asked to remain anonymous because “it is frowned upon to speak of the epidemic or to go against the official vision” but said he felt a need to speak out from an “ethical and medical point of view.” https://time.com/5817412/sweden-coronavirus/

Exactly. I wonder if these same people would care to hazard a guess at the number of cases and deaths, if proper measures hadn’t been undertaken. Any unknown ‘virus’ has to be looked at keenly. As Theresa Tam, Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, says “once you’ve seen one pandemic, you’ve seen...one pandemic.”

False negatives? At least 51 patients diagnosed as having fully recovered from the coronavirus in South Korea have tested positive a second time after leaving quarantine, according to officials.https://nypost.com/2020/04/07/51-recovered-coronavirus-patients-test-positive-again-in-south-korea/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPFacebook&utm_medium=SocialFlow&sr_share=facebook

Blah, blah, blah. What you’re spewing is no different than what you accuse the media and this forum of doing. I don’t see any calm, informed, factual information coming from the information you provided. What you offer is YOUR opinion, based on information related to shape your mind..and you don’t, or won’t see it, never mind admit it...but you, yourself swallowed it.

It’s not panic. It would become panic if we take our foot off the pedal too early, basically like you’re suggesting. I bet you’d feel a lot different if you are a carrier or become infected because you caught it from someone who doesn’t believe what’s happening..

The health body (W.H.O.) defined an “infodemic” as an “an over-abundance of information – some accurate and some not – that makes it hard for people to find trustworthy sources and reliable guidance when they need it.” In response to the spread of misinformation, the WHO put together a team to track myths and rumours about the virus and dispel them with facts.Social media platforms, such as Facebook, Google, and Twitter, have also been aiding in the effort to contain the spread of inaccurate information by removing such content from their sites and promoting trustworthy sources. An example:Myth: Wearing a mask will protect against infection.Facts:The WHO only advises those with symptoms of COVID-19, particularly coughing, or those who will be in direct contact with someone who may have the virus to wear a mask. What’s more, the health body said disposable face masks can only be used once and shouldn’t be worn over and over again.“If you are not ill or looking after someone who is ill then you are wasting a mask. There is a world-wide shortage of masks, so WHO urges people to use masks wisely,” the organization said on its website.
