  1. He was hired by the Elks about a month ago. https://3downnation.com/2022/12/08/edmonton-elks-hire-former-riders-offensive-line-coach-stephen-sorrells/
  2. Same as football players or anyone who repeatedly takes blows to the head really. Not everyone shows signs though and even fewer go completely off the deep end like this. Now that more and more athletes are donating their brains to science when they pass, it'll be interesting to see what (if anything) the research shows in that regard.
  3. Baroni was always a bit unhinged but a lot of people close to him have said he's gone way downhill the last few years. Former UFC champ Josh Barnett shared his experience from a few years ago (2019) where he had to cut ties with Phil because of his erratic behaviour.
  4. Argos sign ex Bomber J.T. Hassell. He was only up here for a few days before making the active roster, which doesn't usually happen, so I was a bit surprised we cut him after only a couple games. His making the roster quickly might have been more about our injuries at the time than his skill though. https://www.argonauts.ca/2023/01/04/double-blue-sign-three-americans-2/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  5. Yep, he's been pretty open about being close to retirement and just wanted a ring. Won't be surprised to see him sign a 1 day contract with Hamilton and hang em up now that he's got it. https://3downnation.com/2022/10/08/im-just-chasing-this-ring-brandon-banks-ready-to-retire-if-argos-win-the-grey-cup/

  7. Yes, between the 3 films, they were nominated for 8 Oscars (won 1). They won a bunch of other awards too. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accolades_received_by_The_Hobbit_film_series

Could very well be both. He took a lot of damage in his career so CTE would not be surprising. And based on what I saw firsthand when he was in town for CFC show, he was (at least at that point in his life) ready and looking for a good time.

  10. According to folks on Twitter, he only needed 3 more games to qualify for his pension, going into the season. He got one in October, his second last night and based on what we saw , he should be in the line-up next week. EDIT - Dunk said it was 6 games so he might be a more reliable source than randoms on Twitter.
  11. Outgoing Alouettes president with a mic drop on loudmouth Gary Stern. 😂
  12. Here's a new one for you!
  13. He was definitely playing well early on and then he seemed to hit a bit of a wall towards the start of the second half of the season. I remember DT talking about how at the star of the season, Rutledge had a play or two each game that kind stood out but those slowly started to stop happening and nobody could figure out why. Was it fatigue from not being used to playing this long, coming out of college, was there an injury, maybe a change to the scheme? Whatever the reason, the coaches clearly lost confidence in him by the end of the season and now it's a wrap.
  14. From early front runner for team ROY to the USFL.

  16. One of the issues with Ellis (just looking at his numbers), and why he's overlooked is that he was both a running back and slot back. He also bounced around quite a bit so he never really established a legacy in one place At either position, he's no where near the top of the all-time list but when you look at the numbers of combined, they are impressive. There are hall of famer a with lesser stats
  17. He has 6 years of CFL coaching now (Montreal & Toronto) & 2 years of Usports. In the CFL he's been a receivers coach, a QB coach and an OC. His one year as OC might have been in a name only - he had Jacques Chapdelaine there as an "advisor" while he learned the role. When Popp resigned, Chapdelaine took over as HC and also took over playing calling from AC. He was demoted back to QB coach the next season.
  18. He was dealing with a foot injury going back to at least the end of June. He then broke his foot (not sure if it's the same foot) during GC.
  19. That kind of statement reeks of them just preparing the fans now, trying to soften the blow when they inevitably are stuck with him when no legit QB's want to sign there.
  20. Was the full quote supposed to be "New Riders’ OC Kelly Jeffrey believes Saskatchewan could ‘win a Grey Cup’ with Cody Fajardo at quarterback for another team"?
  21. I think I understand why he was choice #7 now...
  22. Not only that but BC & Calgary have had a really long stretch with above average QB's. They are more than welcome to take their turn having shi**y QB's like every other team has had to deal with.
  23. The L's are literally betting on themselves to beat the Riders in week 1. It's a win-win situation for me... either the Riders lose or it's another Chris Jones disaster. https://3downnation.com/2022/12/13/edmonton-elks-launch-guaranteed-win-promotion-for-the-2023-season/
