    Only in the CFL..
  2. Going by his social media, he didn't seem to be hurt. He was getting looks from the arena league & the XFL but it doesn't look like anything panned out.
  3. He was in camp with us last year... made it through both pre-season games before getting cut. Some people in the media (I want to say Hamilton?) thought he would get scooped up by another club. He's got one of those hard luck stories that you can't help but root for the guy.
  4. Looks like the Bombers are bringing Boynton back for another look.
  5. Coaches are getting fired for that sort of thing these days...
  6. I wouldn't even consider him a Calgary product, he was barely there. They signed him in Feb 2015 and then released him in training camp a few months later... zero regular season games played.
  7. This is my biggest issue with Arbuckle. Having said that, Calgary does have a proven track record of producing quality QB's. Arbuckle also started more games this season than Franklin did over 3 seasons in Edmonton so I would say he's more proven as a QB.

Masoli's health could factor into this as Hamilton apparently doesn't think he'll be ready come training camp. If he starts the season on the IR, he still gets paid & they save some cap space. They can worry about playing time once he's healthy.

It's the Als... those are both legit possibilities! Apparently McManus took himself out of the running for the GM job. It's not a good sign when multiple candidates decide to pull out rather than try to tackle that tire fire. They had another 2 flat out decline an interview.

I don't blame him. If other teams are willing to release guys to pursue NFL opportunities, why hasn't Calgary let him go?
  13. I think the Bauming thing is already done (and was blown out of proportion). Someone asked him on Twitter if there was any truth to the rumors that he was being blacklisted by the players and he just laughed and say no.

And they are all very happy about it. I wonder if a non-compete was part of the deal.

That's my biggest concern with Buck... that it's more of the same. We really dont know what we'd get with him though.
  16. Hodge says he has multiple tryouts lined up. https://3downnation.com/2019/12/06/cfl-interceptions-leader-db-winston-rose-books-multiple-nfl-workouts/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  17. I agree we got lucky with Kongbo... if not for his injury, he would never have been here in the 1st place. I was just throwing Bennett's name out there as he was A) local and B) ranked right where the Bombers are picking. The draft pool and it's rankings are always changing so projecting what we might do at this point is 100% speculation... exactly what the off-season is for!
  18. Winnipeg product Mason Bennett is a DE who was ranked 9th in the initial rankings.
  19. Given the nature of the family business... I'm surprised he didn't go with a phone that was uncrackable.
  20. No disputing that he quit on the team... I'm just saying it seems like there's more to it than just not accepting a new role.
  21. He got married (or engaged?) over the bye-week and never came back. I think he realized at that point he was just done with football. If it was simply a case of him not wanting to be a back-up, why retire? I'm sure the team would have released him to pursue other opportunities if he still had the desire to play.
  22. Yep and it doesn't seem like he's holding any grudges. He's still wearing bomber gear in his latest Instagram pics. In the end, he probably wouldn't have seen the field much, if at all, anyway so his leaving didn't end up affecting anything. Things worked out for both sides... we won, he gets to retire a "champ".

Masoli is also coming off a serious injury (if people are going to use that as a negative for Nichols, they should for him as well) and could quite possibly just be a product of a good system. He was nothing special until the June Jones system got installed in Hamilton, so the question is would he be just as good outside of it? I'm more sold on Arbuckle than I am on Masoli but the name James Franklin keeps coming to mind when I think about him. It's a big risk to take but then again, the upside could be very big too if he pans out.
  24. Not quite, they re-connected when he invited her up here in 2015 but had met at a party when they were at Baylor (2009 or 2010). How/where they met is irrelevant as the main point is that they both seemed to like it here very much.
