I think Morrissey is TRYING to be that guy, and has shown it a few times this year..... and I feel like Lowry is close to being that guy. I used to think Scheifele might be that guy, but he's slipping in my books...

I can absolutely see how Alberta governments wouldn't want people being taught about the real history of Canada.....just some white-washed version of it. That would make all kinds of sense...

Yeah the Rooney thing was the worst of it, for sure, but any time you had white actors portraying anything other than a white character....man that's so ****** up and hard to believe that was ever acceptable. And not just in terms of race, but other things, like characters with a physical handicap being portrayed by actors who were fully physically able, even when there were perfectly good actors with that handicap who could play that role. All of that **** just disgusts me now, to think about it. But, again, the Rooney thing.... that makes me sick to my stomach.

and if someone "out east" had made a similar joke about Alberta, there would be outrage the likes you have never seen.... but it's always okay to take shots at Quebec when out in the West. Blah. Whatever.... I think I was just not meant to ever live out in the west.

I have a relative that was a prof in Montreal for a long time. Anglophone, but fully bilingual obvs, and he told me about that once. Said the Habs are very much the team for French-Quebec, and the Als are more Anglo-Quebec's team. Obviously that's not 100%, but "for the most part..." kinda thing.

I'm not going to go back and multi-quote all the posts, but all the anti-Quebec/anti-French sentiment in here is almost every other post. "You can't sell to a separatist!" says a guy who is a lifelong voter of a provincial party that would love to separate from Canada..."they'd better not call it Montreal Quebecois!" in another..... just so ridiculous.

so much anti-French sentiment in this thread.... it's interesting. I understand hate for separation, but is Alberta's current situation any different?? Maybe I've just been living in rural AB for too long (definitely...) but people getting their backs up immediately over anything French related just makes me roll my eyes.
