Miles or Marshall...
yeah I think Reinbold had a lot less to work with on this team (also because of his failures as a GM) but at least the team seemed to play for him. No one played for Burke, they just seemed to never be prepared to start a game, seemed to lack a lot of effort and desire. Burke just came across as the least inspiring coach ever.

Miles or Marshall...
**** it, Burke may be a great DC but as a head coach he was terrible and deserves no break for it. He put one of the most lifeless teams on the field week in and week out he deserves all the flack he gets. Good riddance to bus driver Tim.

Goodbye 2013...
That's only because my passion for arguing never goes away, but it was too the point where watching the games was just "ho hum another blow out who cares" no anger, no frustration just acceptance and that is a terrible feeling.

Goodbye 2013...
I honestly didn't think anything could try my patience with this team more than Mike Kelly clowning around but geez at least I was angry with Kelly, I'll take anger over apathy any day. It was hard to care about this team and that is a real damning statement about things.

all I'm saying is drafting with hindsight is a pointless waste of time.

Goodbye 2013...
Good by to the absolute worst football season I can remember and good riddance. I thought 2012 was bad but my stars 2013 topped it on the suck meter.

Miles or Marshall...
When we actually see a coach worse than him... Considering I have never seen a coach as bad as him with this team that could be a long long wait. That's right, Tim Burke was a worse head coach than Mike Kelly, Jim Daley and Jeff Reinbold, quite an accomplishment. He deserves every single bit of bashing he gets because he led the consistently led the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked onto the field.

I stand by the fact that since all of the top prospects in the draft had NFL ambitions AND with the Ottawa expansion draft looming taking a flyer on a guy going to the NFL was not a bad move.
-
Mulumba
and if Mulumba finds his way up here and is a top level NI for years are you still going to scream about a wasted pick? The only reason people keep rehashing the picks is cause some people have unrealistic expectations of what you get out of a typical draft. Every single team has misses every single year.

Bob Wylie as OL coach?
That'd be good but Wylie would be awesome too. He did some real good things with the o-line when he was here before.

Miles or Marshall...
yeah was really unhappy with Lapo trying to do too many jobs, really get the impression that O'Shea isn't that kind of person and I'm glad. Burke wasn't that kind of person either but he failed because he wound up really doing nothing.

In a draft year where all of the top prospects were getting NFL looks I don't see a problem with taking one of them and hoping he finds his way back to the CFL.

Stubler New Stamps Defensive Coordinator
Bottom line is that Winnipeg is known as a place with no stability so coaches are less likely to go here because job security matters. Stubler can go to Calgary and know that the only way he won't be back is if he does a crappy job. He comes to Winnipeg he knows that everyone might all get fired next season because that's all Winnipeg has done is fire coaches. It really is as simple as that.

Rate the Bombers Offensive Line
I just want to get an OL coach who has proven that he can turn prospects into players because that is what we need to happen here. Veterans aren't going to come in and save the day, need these guys we drafted to become players sooner rather than later.

HS Coach Never Punts….Team's Record? 124-22
but that's not JUST because of an offense. In a lot of those situations the defense is protecting a lead and playing more passively to try and avoid making a huge mistake and giving a big play. I can see the merit in gambling some of the time though. There are lots of situations where you're probably just as far ahead to go for it as to kick it away but it really depends on a lot of factors.

one might argue that Jones best advantage is only being here a month. Hasn't been here long enough for the coaches to ruin him. Douglas was an interesting looking player when he was new here as well.

HS Coach Never Punts….Team's Record? 124-22
I'd say that kind of thing works in high school because it's freakin high school! Yeah not punting might work out for an offence now and then, but in professional ranks teams are so well prepared (insert bomber joke here) that you're not going to catch them off guard with any of this and the talent level is much more balanced. I imagine that highschool football has a lot of talent disparities and can rely one a couple really really talented kids to just dominate.

Miles or Marshall...
I'm just glad it's not Etchevary. This comes down to the "safe" pick vs. gambling on a rookie, i'll trust O'Shea to pick the best guy for what he figures he needs.

Gary Etcheverry interviewed for Bombers DC job
They are a little bit different but yeah you're right they are the same philosophy. Make teams make 10+ plays to score. I think Marshall is a bit less adaptable than Stubler which leads to his defenses not having as long a shelf life.

boxing day home theatre
I did lots of reading on the googles, you can usually get a pretty idea of what you're looking for by reading various pieces. It really comes down to how much you want to pay and finding that good balance there.

Ottawa Announces Entire Coaching Staff
Got the sense so many times last season that the fans were just waiting for a reason to blow the roof off the stadium but never got the chance. When this team turns things around it's going to be a glorious sight to see.

Why? cause he's quite average.

Pat DelMonaco
but what about the plethora of others?
-
Pat DelMonaco
so you're saying the guys were so devoid of talent that even a good coach couldn't get them to be even a little bit better than when they first got here?

Gary Etcheverry interviewed for Bombers DC job
When was the last time a coach in Winnipeg had their contract expire before they were fired? That is the reason right there. When a place has a habit of firing coaches basically every year no one wants to take that risk.
