Penton Lists our QBs...
Go back to 2008 people are saying the same things about Glenn they are saying about Willy and now people here would take Glenn in a heart beat. When will people stop and realize that it's never ALL on the qb when an offense performs this poorly.

GDT: Edmonton @ Winnipeg
Adams can go up and make a play... or he can be a total ***** and get boxed out like a chump. I still don't like the overall mix of our receivers but I do finally like some of the recruits Walters has brought in. Davis has been good this year and I've liked the little we've seen of Mayo too.

I am just saying that yeah Smith was near 1000 yards last year... but Denmark has been over 1000 yards in the CFL. I'm not implying that he's a poor receiver, just that I haven't seen the superstar some touted him as and we may have added Smith but we also dropped two guys who have gone over 1000 yards in the CFL in the past this offseason as well. It's a lot of changes for questionable if any improvements. Were it me I probably would have just signed Dressler to be the veteran experience and not bothered paying Smith.

Would this solve the challenge issues?
It's the mentality that they don't need to get the call right on the field, if it was missed replay will see it. Refs have become so lazy and afraid to make a call they use replay as a huge crutch and it negatively impacts the entertainment value of the games.

Here is my question, is Smith really any better than Denmark was? Sometimes I think Walters is more concerned with making a splash in free agency than building a team. I think Moore would look pretty good on this team as well, I believe he did more here than Smith has shown he is capable of this year.

In Case You Missed It
I think it's more about the inability to attract quality assistants to Winnipeg than anything else. I mean we know that O'Shea wanted Stubler for DC but he picked Calgary over the coaching grave yard that is Winnipeg so O'Shea had to go dumpster diving to get Etchevary. I suspect that it was a similar thing with the OC when they stuck with Bellefool. Or Miller who brought the guy in originally just wanted to keep him. The book on Winnipeg is still pretty much come here get fired shortly and a lot of people just won't put up with that. Need to win before you become a real destination.

He's better than Darvin Adams, but that's not saying a hell of a lot. Either one isn't a good enough option for how much the Bombers want to use them.

In Case You Missed It
Source? but seriously, some interesting things, particularly the Bombers 2nd downs needing 5 or less yards. This team has major issues on 2nd and long so running the useless plays where they get no yards or taking penalties on first down just cripples the offense. Never mind that of those 4 2nd down plays needing less than 5 yards one of them was a running play that got absolutely stuffed so they punted because of that too. Just so many plays this team runs that are wasted from the get go because of what they call.

There really isn't a need to get everyone in right away, Got a bunch of home games left and then year to add more.

Would this solve the challenge issues?
Just do away with it entirely. Waste of time and the calls still aren't 100% correct and now the refs are lazy and won't make calls relying on replay to do their job for them. Oh it doesn't matter if I miss a call, replay will find it!. Just nonsense. Go back to letting the refs ref and we'll all deal with the missed calls because let's be honest here, we are still bitching more than ever about how bad the reffing is in this league.

How long is Willy's leash?
It really reminds me of Kevin Glenn in 2008.

How long is Willy's leash?
This is exactly what it is. Guy starts getting hit and just locks up expecting it all the time because he's been so beaten down the past few years. This is why it is important to get the rest of the team going so that we can keep him clean and let him grow his confidence again. Also why I am an advocate of giving him a break if he starts getting pressured a bunch in games. Just let him get that mental reset.

How long is Willy's leash?
Burris would trip over his pouty bottom lip if he tried to deal with the **** Willy goes through. Burris is a great team mate when things go well but when things don't go well he's the biggest suck out there.

Which week does O'Shea get canned?
Well if we had the best player in the league under performing then maybe there'd be something to that, but we don't have comparable to what the Penguins have on their roster. I know people love to say this is a great roster, but it isn't. Is there any area that we are really above other teams? Linebackers are probably the best spot on the team right now and plenty of teams have great linebackers. qb, receiver, OL, DL, Secondary all lacking in comparison to most teams.

How long is Willy's leash?
because we've seen a bunch of them around the league before. Dressler had some great years with the Riders, he was never on the level of Simon or Bruce. Brazzell I don't even count, he was garbage and also more mid 2000s when the team didn't do a lot of winning either. Smith is not at the level of Simon or Bruce either, I mean really is there much difference between what Smith has shown us and what Denmark did? I have very little belief in Adams, I think he's just another way of saying Aaron Kelly. Too inconsistent to really rely on. Who knows what Davis becomes but he's still a rookie. The amount of talent on those very early 2000s teams was mind blowing.

Which week does O'Shea get canned?
but then they see the dead cat bounce and say "Oh, they got more out of the team, let's give them a chance" You are crazy if you think it would be any different this time around. If they fire MOS it'll be either Hall or Lapo getting a chance to coach this team next year and they've both been fired in their head coaching chances already.

Rebuild # 32769: Kick Us When We're Down Edition
The biggest thing is how bad the OL is at picking up stunts and twists and things from opposing defences. Any kind of wrinkle and it's like our players are braindead as far as who to pick up. Hard to run an offense when the simplest things can throw it all out of whack. Those prized highly drafted OL are getting worked over.

Which week does O'Shea get canned?
If we are going to fire people let's do it at the end of the season for a change. Hasn't worked out firing people midseason at all recently, why not change it up.

How long is Willy's leash?
the worst by a country mile? no sir, you need to watch more teams than just the jets. Could start locally in Calgary perhaps.
-
How long is Willy's leash?
you're obsessed with Pavelec, why is that? I'll say this as someone who isn't even a huge Jets fan, Pavelec is an OK goalie, not perfect but OK. Not the guy to carry a team on his own but support him he can hold the fort.

How long is Willy's leash?
I am not defending him so much as trying to expand people's focus. He's not the only problem on this team, not by a long shot.

How long is Willy's leash?
If we are going to play pretend why don't we also pretend that the defense didn't give up that touchdown at the end of the first half. hell even if they'd kept it to a field goal all of a sudden the Bombers could be leading or tied at the end. There are a million what ifs over the course of a football game. Trying to pick out one or two is just a fools errand.
