plus you know Jones is the type of guy to make his starting qb a scapegoat if things don't go well and we all know how well Glenn deals with adversity.

I don't think it's ever a truly terrible idea to take a guy getting an NFL shot. Yeah you may never see them up here, but if you do then you're getting presumably one of the better players from the draft. Sometimes having a future guy in your back pocket isn't a bad thing either.

They're in the dictionary now so they're real enough for me. The cromulent use of those words really embiggened this thread.- It's 2017 and the Riders just put _________ on their neg list ...

Yeah there really is something to be said for doing subtle things to keep the defender guessing. Milt used to have a whole pile of tricks he could throw out there to make dbs look silly too.- Other Sports Forum
I vote indifference. I don't know that there is enough in general to really get lost however if people want it then more power to em.- Red zone

I thought cj Roberts was not as good as the others last year. Yeah he had some big ints but didn't seem to me to be as consistent.- Bomber forum
The bottom line is that gbill was jealous of Mike because people liked Mike but they didn't like him as much. That's really all it came down to. Some people just can't see that they rub people the wrong way.- Bomber forum
Oh I remember that thread now, oh the LOLs, Guy really got offended that people didn't bow down and kiss his ass.- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
everyone is looking for an edge, I still don't know that analytics are as useful in sports like football and hockey as people like to believe.- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
But the point is that it's mostly a scouting tool, whether it's self scouting or scouting players on other teams. I've said this plenty in lots of places, but any kind of statistics are only as valuable as the people interpreting them. Knowing how to use the numbers is far more important than actually having the numbers.- The TV Thread
McFarlane seems to be a huge fan of Star Trek though so I would say it's less about making fun of it and rather paying homage to. So you don't even get your wish there.- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
But the hawks use it mostly as a scouting tool, and they use stuff that the fans and bloggers don't track. Plus in hockey it also has some discrepancy between stats and reality. Best example is Kris Russell. Guy has bad fancy stats yet still a good player and it drives stats nerds bonkers- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
The reason baseball works is because it's a series of one vs. one battles. Works less well in team play.- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
No the only reason people want these stats is so that they can make definitive claims without having to watch every minute. Players don't need them to know what they need to improve on, it's purely so you can make a judgement call on someone without having spent an exhaustive amount of time watching the player.- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
plus with all the ambiguity in what stats matter for a qb it makes it a hell of a lot easier to argue about who is better, which pairs nicely with drinking.- The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
And for these reasons maybe we need to stop trying. I mean it's a position that really does rely on so many other people doing their job correctly it seems like a lot of wasted effort trying to distil an individual into a catch all stat that tells how good or bad they are. Can't we just watch the games and judge who is good and who isn't?- Around The League Off Season Discussion
That's probably the biggest thing. I don't imagine that rugby has any more concussion problems than football and those guys play a physical game, they just have to make proper tackles and aren't trying to turn themselves into missiles to take the lazy way out of tackling. - Bombers Off-Season Transactions
