  1. Yes he played. He is number 8. He had his corner on lockdown the whole time, not sure they ever even looked his way. He played contain on kickoffs and punts too while he was in, very well.
  2. I'd expect Willy to play the entire first half and a series or 2 in the second half in the final pre-season game, along with most of the starters on both sides of the ball. It stinks that we play 2 pre-season games in 5 days, with basically a week of practice leading up to the first pre-season game, then have a week off. They likely won't be able to install much more prior to the game on Saturday. We have the crappiest pre-season schedule IMO, hopefully they rotate the short pre-season week through every team and we don't see it again for a few years (assuming Ottawa lasts long enough ).
  3. My initial impression is that Brohm has few redeemable qualities as a CFL QB. But the OL was terrible in front of him. A couple times myself and my buddy looked at each other and wondered why they were blocking like it was a screen pass when Brohm was clearly going downfield, that's how bad it was. Marve has a great arm. That pass he hit on the sideline was a beauty. Every QB tossed that same seam pattern at least once, and Marve was the only one who didn't require the receiver to turn back and fight the DB for the ball, he hit the guy in stride. Willy runs the zone read very well, and that will save him from having to make a bunch of tough throws if we feature it. Hall looks a little more comfortable, but he can't run the zone read if he isn't willing to pull the ball down himself...there was one really bad one where 3 Argos were bearing down on the RB and he didn't take it. Could have run for 20 yards or sucked in a DB and hit a good pass on the rollout.
  4. Well, this sure is showing just how fractured the players are, and how ignorant some like Mo Price are. I can understand the Foley's and Cornish's viewpoints, not so much the Mo Price's who probably won't make it through half of the term of the proposed deal. From a selfish point of view, going to any extreme would not make sense for any import player. The fact that the CFLPA executive is endorsing this mediated deal should be a pretty good indicator to the players that they won't get any better deal.
  5. a. we traded two second rounders to end up with Pencer (our first ratio breaking RT) b. a 2nd round pick (Dylan Ainsworth) would have been rotating/starting this year for the bombers c. Neufeld looked good at RT and very average at RG in Sask d. your post sounds like you're the one who is panicking I'm not in any 'panic' - that's an old ploy on these boards when someone points out a concern on the team. Our team does not look 'great' on paper, panic won't change that. I am hopeful that Pencer or Neufeld will get reps at RT because that's why they were brought here. Why trade our 2nd rounder if we're only starting 3 (or possibly 2) NI on the line. I'd switch that to very average and pretty bad respectively, and call that evaluation fairly generous. For Neufeld it's tackle or nothing IMO.
  6. It will be worse than last year. Really the only spot we added a non-import upgrade for 2014 is DB. It's gonna take a few years of great drafting to really improve. We've got basically nothing out of a lot of high picks recently, and it shows.
  7. Voting to strike doesn't necessarily mean being willing or able to strike. The CFLPA strike vote was like going all-in with a 7-2 off suit. The CFL called the bluff.
  8. I think you forgot "BOOM."
  9. The way we are going through IMP OL and the number of them around makes me think we won't be starting fewer than 2 IMP on the OL.
  10. TBH, I find most of the restaurants in the Osborne/Corydon/River Heights area to be massively overrated just because it is a trendy area. Carlos and Murphy's and Billabong are ok. Luxalune's food is awful, Kawaii Crepe is hipster heaven, but if you don't appreciate staff who don't give a poop about what they are doing and being in that atmosphere for half an hour waiting for a crepe that takes 2 minutes to make, don't bother. Unburger/Nuburger used to be excellent, but there is no quality control there. I've been served ground beef there that was barely heated, let alone cooked. Wildly inconsistent. I've only been to Market Burger once, the wait was long, but the meat was cooked and the burger overall was good. Stella's has been trending down, although the new location at the U of W is pretty good, only been there once though. BDI is meh for me. I'll take one Sweet Tops fresh banana milkshake over a million "googs." I love The Grove though. That is one place that is underrated.
  11. As mentioned it's awful. Major reconstruction both directions on Pembina hwy. To the previous poster, isn't the $2.55 for regular transit use? Park and rides are direct shuttles correct? Ie you'd pay once at the park and ride location and that would be it. I would guess the bombers would have people on site taking money. It does raise the question of safety for a person standing out in a parking lot with a lot of cash on them though. I assume they'll load one bus at a time and have a person outside the bus with a vest similar to the people who collect parking money in lots that charge for event parking. There should be a whole lot of people around so safety shouldn't be too big of an issue.
  12. Cramped, sure. If you're 300+ lbs maybe. $40 a year...enjoy spending that on gas by the 2nd home game. Last 2/3 of the year the P&R was run perfectly, IMO, so same as usual for this guy. Where do you buy gas?
  13. I think it would be Geoff Courier he has done football before and has been the home sideline guy for years. Currier isn't much younger than Irving.
  14. I believe he is healthy when his leg is not broken. That and he started a buncha games for sasktchy did he not? Love misinformed fans ridiculing depth incorrectly.. Cauchy Muamba started a bunch of games too for us and BC. So what? No correlation with ability to be a good player today.
  15. I agree that all members should get an equal vote generally, but rookies aren't members yet cause they haven't paid any dues, they haven't been paid at all yet (aside from per diem, accommodation), even training camp stipends only kick in after a player has a year in the league. It's kind of insane IMO that they are allowed to vote before they've made a team. Their votes are going to be disproportionate too with full training camp rosters. A bunch of guys who will get cut in the next 3 weeks are going to vote and never even become CFLPA members, versus the rookies being a relatively small portion of CFLPA members after rosters are set.
  16. Who even has the depth to trade a NI OL right now, one that would be useful to us immediately? Looking through the rosters I can't see anyone.
  17. Can't see it happening on the league side. They will continue to call the players bluff until they play their crappy hand. The players get a little leverage by being able to walk out during the season, but not enough for the league to wipe out their own revenues.
  18. The PA is determined to get revenue sharing because it would put more money in their pockets immediately. Same reason they gave up a share of revenues in 2010 for fixed cap, in 2010 the fixed cap put more money in their pockets immediately. The PA doesn't seem to worry about more than a couple years into the future, which usually means they are putting their future membership at a disadvantage heading into the next negotiation.
  19. One thing I'd worry about is that people won't use the park and ride on the way to the game, they will try to use regular Transit routes which are cheaper or get dropped off. There could be much more demand post-game, for the free ride.
  20. How would they know who came out of which vehicle? It's per person. ... You take $5 from each car as they enter the park n ride? Unless they're giving everyone wristbands.... They aren't charging people to park their cars, they are charging people to ride the bus. Anyone can park there for free if they are going to the mall, casino or wherever it is.
  21. O'Shea made a big point of not doing conditioning as part of training camp practices. I'm wondering if he'll adjust that in the future. They had an expectation that guys would come into camp in great shape, but that's not necessarily football shape, and football shape to go from 0 to 60 and compete against other guys going just as hard.
  22. How would they know who came out of which vehicle? It's per person.
  23. Even if we go 4 OL, we desperately need to add another Canadian who can play, likely a receiver or DL. The chances of Watson surviving 18 games are pretty low, our depth is wire thin, we lose a couple NI's who we're counting on to play on O or D and we're totally screwed, we've already lost one.
  24. While i do agree to an extent, i dont see him as a moore or stegall (and thats fine) and he isnt expected to be at this point.. Im thinking hes supposed to be a 3rd 4th option and will be very good in that role.. also, his knowledge of marcel's offense is huge when you factor in the inexperience of our QBs..Not every rec needs to be a simon, bruce or milt.. And he's a good fourth option to have. His size gives you matchup problems in the red zone and he's good to deliver a strike to running a slant or when you need a guy to break off his route at the first down marker. It's not like he has a massive case of the dropsies like many in this league have. Yes he's a slow runner but that's fine as long as you catch the ball which he does. I find most people who say they don't like him simply leave it at that and don't go into detail about what they don't like (perhaps mostly because there isn't a laundry list of things he does wrong). We could certainly do much, much worse. 3 TD's in 24 games. Take out his 3 biggest plays last year, and he's averaging 20 yards receiving a game. That's while playing a lot of boundary WR, one of the primary targets of a CFL offence. He's doing something wrong, because he was completely unproductive aside from 3 long balls down the sideline in half a season, like worse than Jade. Everyone was unproductive last year. If he's having a good camp he deserves credit for having a good camp. He seems best suited on the wide side which we've reserved for NIs in recent years. At least he can do more than a Hargreaves decoy run. Or the Poblah dive for the ball and get hurt. Lining up anywhere else on the field his value is probably lower than players we already have. Highlight reel yet not particularly amazing is an odd combo. Chris Brazzell 2.0? What does suited for the wide-side mean? A guy you don't want to throw the ball to?
