I hate that the command center can rule, effectively, that the Roughrider sneak play should have been whistled dead earlier than it was. That really feels like the prerogative of the onfield officials.

Man those BC receivers are shy about blocking for each other -- guys taking short passes are getting lit up bad. Then you compare that with Bagg and Richardson throwing downfield blocks to spring their buddies for big/important gains. Roughriders looking like they're playing a team game, Lions not so much.

Love having games at 4PM on Fridays out here. Nice to sneak out of work early, chill in front of the game (or suffer seizures of rage and despair as appropriate) and then have the rest of the night to go out and be social.

I'm pretty sure Buck got KO'd out of a game against us in 2009. (frustrating game, we had a decent lead vs a super raw Lulay, but Bishop threw a crushing pick-6 and Lulay channelled some Rocky Butler magic...)

Man I'm getting tired of my standard QB injury post, "like the whole league, want to see the best players, injuries suck, all the best to them for a solid recovery, blah blah, etc." What can the league do to keep the QBs upright without ruining the game? Don't like the Riders but think that Durant at his peak is one of the best and I want to see the best play. He's made plays I've never seen another CFL QB make, shaking tacklers off with sheer strength and escaping a collapsing pocket. His 2010 OT duel with AC is one of the top five CFL games I've ever seen. All the best to him. I hope he comes back from this. I love this whole nutty league and I dread the idea of an Adrian McPherson vs. Matt Nichols Grey Cup.

This. The league spends a few million vetting candidates and cashes a cool $1B check for their trouble. That's a hard proposition to turn down. Local news in Seattle is actually starting to pay attention to the idea of the NHL now too. I know I've said all along that I doubt we'd get a team here but hey maybe it'll happen. There's miles to go on a new arena though; Bettman himself has said that the current arena is completely inadequate.

A DE can always stunt inside. They don't just go straight towards the QB on every play.

The thing that's promising this year is that we have a bunch of tickets in the top national starter lottery -- Westerman, Chung, Waggoner, Goossen, Bastien. If one or two of these guys develop into legit top talent we'll be in a way better spot. If three or four of them develop we will be set for awhile. I bet we'll see some serious bumps as everyone gets their legs under them but there's more promise here than there's been for awhile.

Tear up knee in preseason, get released. Does Anderson take anything away besides a wrecked knee? Any kind of injury compensation or extended insurance or what have you? That's super shitty if he doesn't.

Those too-short passes on 2nd down are frustrating, but how do we know that it's the OC's fault and not the QB's? A lot of them I remember as checkdown plays to the safety valve receiver, who isn't going to have a ton of blocking help. They're not plays where the first read is the short pass. It's not like the OC has an Xbox controller wired to the QB's brain. The QB gets to make choices too.

Three of the best current cfl quarterbacks hurt or seriously questionable and we haven't played a for-real down yet. This sucks.
