3 stars plus hh long cold winter edition
I notice that everyone on your list, except Burris are below average QB's who aren't exactly known for taking responsibility for their own actions. I do remember all of them having bad games and Burris calling the panel out at halftime of one game, but that's not after a loss. I still don't remember any of them talking about how well they thought they played after a loss or even a poor performance. I'd lump Nichols in with Glenn, Jennings, Bridge and Willy too, but that's not high praise.

Can you provide an example of any other CFL QB's talking about how they thought they played well after a loss? Reilly, for example, always talks about what HE needs to do better after a loss, even if he's thrown for 300+ yards and the game was lost by the defense.

Time to straighten his tie and go on some job interviews.

Bombers Free Agent List
Most players likely don't look at the cost of living. They are only in town for 6 months. They stay with other players, not by themselves. They get help from 'boosters'. They get invited out. They get their drinks paid for at bars. All players on their first contract have zero choice where they go. Once they've had a couple of years in a place it's more like 'home' than another CFL city, unless it's actually home. If I was 20 something, I'd rather go to BC or Montreal or even Toronto than some prairie town that's a bit cheaper.

I stand corrected. 2nd playoff game. My bad.

It was Streveler's first CFL playoff game. Better?

That's BS. I blamed both for their overthrows and BLM for his. I attach more blame to Nichols because he's vet not a rookie. He was warmed up. It wasn't his first and only throw. He wasn't in his first playoff game. He's paid to make those throws in the big game. I was responding to a poster who was blaming Steverler for the loss, which is ridiculous.

Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
The big time free agents are waiting for the CBA. Might as well sign the guys who aren't going to get huge increases anyway right now.

Maybe you should stop reading stuff into what I type. You should know by now, that I don't have any problems calling a spade an F'ing shovel. If I mean that Nichols is crap, I'll say Nichols is crap. I won't try to hide it between the lines. Context is your friend. Someone else brought up Nelon Green and contended that our rookie QB missing his only throw was where we lost the game at the same time ignoring BLM missing an open receiver and faulting Adams for Nichols overthrow. Others agreed. I was just pointing out how ridiculous that is.

If that's what you thought, then you're reading things that aren't there.

They are all accurate statements. They don't say different things. Adams couldn't catch the ball because it was overthrown. Nichols apologists, like you, blame Adams. Streveler overthrew Harris and that 1 play doesn't make him Nealon Green 2.0, yet that's what someone said it meant. Both QB's missed an open receiver. Neither miss by itself makes them bad QB's.

You still don't have it right. Nichols overthrows a receiver = an overthrow. Streveler overthrows a receiver = an overthrow. The combo of the 2 overthrows = 2 missed opportunities. Neither play in themselves = a bad QB.

Get your facts straight. I blame Nichols personally for the 2 Riders losses, because he gave the ball away, which was the difference maker in those 2 games. Nichols was a difference maker in his 300 yard game too, this time in a good way. The rest of the games, he wasn't a difference maker in my opinion. He's a game manager who is at his best when he doesn't give the ball away, which is all we really ask of him. He doesn't run well or throw deep well. He's accurate on the short passes and makes quick decisions. He's better than Willy was or any of a bunch of other poor QB's that we tried to win with, but that's not a high bar. For some folks around here and Nichols himself, it's always someone else's fault. Bottom line... Nichols missed another open receiver, just like Streveler and BLM did. BTW: That game didn't come down to 1 play anyway. It was a combo of several things. 75 yards passing by the end of the 3rd quarter. Missing 2 deep balls. No TD drives, when Calgary got 3. Playing not to lose instead of taking chances. Waiting for the turn over to go our way, then doing nothing with it. Not giving Streveler a couple of sets of downs early in the 4th to see if he could jump start our O. A bad punt. Some iffy kick coverage.

The real point is that the ball was overthrown to a wide open Adams. Adams wouldn't catch up to it no matter how hard he tried, but the Nichols apologist's need it to be someone else's fault. Streveler missing his only throw of the game doesn't make him Nealon Green 2.0 or a bad QB, no matter how many times some folks want to make that the story.

You're 90% wrong.

Thought you'd blame Adams. Blame anyone but Nichols.

Nope. It's saying that Streveler wasn't the only QB who missed a wide open receiver in WF. FTR: Bo missed one too. I hold Nichols to a higher standard too. He's the experienced vet. He's the starter. He's getting the big bucks. For me, that leads to greater expectations than just managing the game and not giving the ball away.

If Nichols, our starting QB, with years of experience, already warmed up in the game, could have hit a wide open Adams in the end zone we might have beaten Calgary too. Blaming the loss on a rookie QB throwing his first and only pass in his first playoff game after coming in cold from the bench is ridiculous.

The MBB All-Time Blue Bomber team
On the 'Monster' defense we ran in the high school in the 70's, the monster spot was a LB/DE hybrid. Basically, an 11 man defense with 1 player freed up to go where he was needed.
