  1. I believe it's 200K per season / team so you're right in that they've used all of it. This also means that anyone else who was getting that little extra taste this year won't be getting it in subsequent years (at least on the books).
  2. There was good defending early in the season? Honestly, the last few weeks are the best we’ve played defensively. Haba on the roster is subtraction by addition.
  3. I know we would never know for certain (if we would have won) but these sorts of admissions piss me off so much. In a season where we've not made things easy on ourselves, it shouldn't be made worse by the league actively working against us (through sheer incompetence)
  4. Regardless of the impact on this weekend, Rourke back in the CFL is good for the league and the Lions. I honestly don't know how they make it work with Adams long term but, with what he's being paid, it's unlikely they carry both beyond this season.
  5. We won't be any longer. /thread accompli
  6. Until BC actually acknowledges they need some semblance of a running game they will always be a flawed offense.
  7. I'll believe it when I see it. He may be there and ready to play but it's not likely he starts against us.
  8. There's no way Rourke steps in and plays this week.
  9. Tell me why we let Grant walk?
  10. You can't tell me that, after watching these last two games (last night's and today), we are a less talented team. ******* injuries, country club training camp and a stubborn coach have dug us a hole.
  11. Dyce was heated there at the end. Wonder what went down.
  12. That was crazy .. right call .. but crazy.
  13. Stats through week 9. https://static.cfl.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/2024-CFL-League-Statistics-Week-9-1.pdf
  14. Just a feature of his game at this point.
  15. It’s also been the hallmark of Zach’s best (and most consistent) seasons.
  16. He can't be any worse than what we've been trotting out there so far this year (well .. I'm telling myself that at any rate). A complete aside, I can't remember the last time we were absolutely decimated by injuries like this. If we somehow manage to turn things around over the back half of the year it'll be a testament to this team's perseverance.
  17. This is a prime example of why stats, in isolation, are meaningless. They don’t tell the story of how many tackles he’s outright missed .. how many times he’s been dragged for extra yardage or run over .. they don’t show the plays he should have made if he was a few steps faster. I don’t think Bighill is the biggest issue on defense and you see that in some of the plays he makes, when he’s instinctual .. short yardage is a perfect example of this .. that said, anyone denying that his overall play has fallen off has their head in the sand. He doesn’t have the range he used to. He’s not as physical as he used to be. He doesn’t shed blocks and flow like he could in years past. He doesn’t react as quickly as he used to in pass coverage. These things matter and it’s why we should be grooming the next guy while Biggie still has some utility. I love Bighill and his leadership can’t be underestimated but time catches us all.
  18. I agree. If we are really looking to try and salvage this season and make a push for the playoffs, there's a spot for Bailey. Both of the guys you listed have shown nothing. Contributed nothing. If we are looking forward to next year, then I can see the organization passing on Bailey with the idea that they are going to try and bring these guys along. It's pretty clear, this team misses a guy like Bailey who has a bit of juice (energy, fire, compete, hunger .. whatever you want to call it).
  19. I think Bailey is a guy who loves football and isn't willing to set that aside easily. We have dead weight on the roster; guys who for the life of me I can't understand why they are still around. For this year at least, he sees the field and plays and I can see a world where he sticks around next season as well. While not the same player, Bailey reminds me a lot of Darvin Adams in terms of his attitude and the fire he brings the receiving group as a whole.
  20. Aren't you cute. Two plays back to back with our heavy set on the Hamilton 2 yard line .. 55 minute mark .. and please don't try to tell me we weren't trying to punch it in right from the get go or that short yardage means that we're only trying to pick up a single yard or some nonsense like that. Let's not be disingenuous. The offense and Pigrome failed to convert on back to back plays and Pigrome never saw the field again in short yardage situations.
  21. It was back to back plays at the goal line. A single yard on 2nd and 2 and stuffed on 3rd and 1. He never saw the field again after that. And let’s not be condescending .. I know how short yardage works.
  22. Twice in the same drive but who’s counting.
  23. He also goes on to say that this is hand fighting and that it’s a slippery slope to make those calls. Not only did the DB run through the receiver but he’s restricting him from making a play on the ball. Not hand fighting. It’s a bad take (and it should have been PI). Don’t apologize for shitty officiating - demand more of them and the league.

I’ll pour one for my fellow Mods who have to wade through it all. 🍺
  25. I’m a firm believer that if it comes down to a couple of plays, that you’ve left in the hands of the refs, you didn’t do enough to win the game. I agree though .. terrible spot on the Streveler sneak and unless they blew the play dead early, he was never really down. He was on top of a few bodies (it looked that way to me). The non-PI call was brutal but it’s the inconsistency in officiating that’s infuriating.
