I watched Chipman's news conference and I the only thing I see him getting defensive about is the City implying and portraying him as doing backroom deals. It isn't his job to make sure that Centreventure or the City follow their own processes. If you listen to his side of the events, and they sound believable to me, Centreventure was in trouble when their prior deal fell through. He offered a solution. They could have said no. They could have taken it back to council, But they didn't. They had the mandate from City council to negotiate this deal and Chipman negotiated with them. He followed the process that was there at the time. Want to be mad at someone, get mad at Centreventure, and the prior administration for setting up the rules. What else was Chipman supposed to do at that time? Wag his finger at Centreventure and demand they get council approval? Not his job. Chipman is mad because he has a legally binding agreement with which he could bring the City to court. The city reneged on the deal, and painted him with the same brush as the other corrupt deals that were done. If it comes out that Chipman was giving kickbacks back to Centreventure or some other illegal means to broker the deal, then he deserves to be called out on it and prosecuted. Don't think it is right to tarnish his name and reputation, to imply that he is doing backroom deals when he did business in the manner in which the prior administration set things up (by negotiating with Centreventure). This is why he is mad.

Kunitz would probably have to be a part of that deal to offset salary for the Pens.

It is interesting how some of the discussions in the media have been how Kane may have a chance to succeed on another team with different leadership to “guide” him. Of course I will never know what goes on in the dressing room, and what the other players have done with Kane up to this point. But I can’t think this is the first isolated incident. Nor do I think that this is the worst of things that could happen to you in a dressing room. For Kane to skip out on a game because of this is ridiculous. I’d be very surprised if he plays another game with the Jets. How do you walk back into that dressing room after doing that? Talk about an awkward flight home

I think everyone is very curious to know the whole story. If it ever comes out though, I probably won't be until after he is traded.

There comes a point where you need to cut your losses. And lets be honest, his stock hasn't been rising here over the last few years. It has been on a steady decline. If you don't think things will get better, you need to get what you can. And yes, it may mean he flourishes with another team (see Tyler Seguin). But that doesn't mean he would flourish with yours had you kept him.

Wouldn't they be able to call up another forward if Kane is put on the IR?

If Kane is going to be traded, I can't see it happening until the off season. And if he announces he is going in for surgery today and will be out the rest of the season, good chance we've seen Kane play his last game in a Jets uniform.

The problem with saying things like this is that there is very little chance of Wheeler and Little ever doing something like this. Nor do they have the history that Kane does.

Nobody that I can think of that would make me trade Kane.

Kane being traded to Ottawa or New Jersey?

He was released a few months before his contract ended so he could sign in the NFL. Similar to what we did for Ian Wild this year.

For a lot of reasons, I don’t usually publically post or discuss site discipline. Wide Right has now been banned. This morning he used an IP address that was common to one that only Migs has used in the past. Of course this is never 100% proof that it is the same poster, it could mean that they simply work at the same company. But the other evidence that was posted made it compelling enough to ban him. And by posting this, he will know not to post from that IP address again in the future (one of the reasons I don’t usually disclose this stuff). As a rule, I don’t like to ban people. In the history of this site, there have been 4 people banned. 3 if you count Migs and Wide Right as one. Not something we do lightly. And being a Rider fan is not reason enough to ban people. But with Migs, he keeps coming back because there are a group of posters who fall for his schtick every time. He wants to derail threads, he wants to post silly arguments to get the replies from you. You will never win an argument with him, you will never get him to see the light, as he obviously has no interest in that. So when he does return the next time, the best thing you can really do is ignore him, and don’t give him what he wants. And seriously, “letting you at him”, will have no effect on him what so ever. Words can’t hurt people or put them in the hospital. Letting you at him is exactly what he wants and why he comes here.

Migs is gone from the site. No need to trash the guy when he isn't even around to defend himself. Posts have been deleted. Sometimes it is best to just take the high road. Please try to keep it classy.

He never really got a shot at receiver all year. Super bowl was really the first game they played him on offence. Got to think going into next year he will be given the opportunity to start next year, and if he shows well, he will be able to parlay that into a big pay cheque.

After two losses Jets need to win this game. Hutch gives them the best chance.

I will give him credit, he is a very good interviewer. Does his research and his interviews are typically very well done. But it is all that in between stuff that makes me literally yell at the radio until I need to change the station. Can't stand his call in segments either.

For anyone who has listened to Rome at least a half a dozen times, read this in his voice, and his intonations, and tell me I’m wrong.

I do believe that pretty much anyone can sign up and edit Wikipedia. It sometimes goes through an approval process if you are new or not known. That is the whole point of Wikipedia, is it is kept up to date by the community at large.
