I’m honestly more excited about Dukes potential than Strevelers.  Dukes is still young enough to learn. I liked him when he played for the Argos. Hit a wall it seemed but think there’s potential there with him. 

When has Streveler shown he can be an effective enough passer to be a starting QB? He struggled in 2019 as the starter when Nicholls went down which prompted the move for Collaros in the first place.

Honestly. They been to the cup 5 straight years. These are the good times whether you can admit it or not.

To be honest, I don't know how you even pay kenny 50k+  year more than dalton.
2 out of 3 years in the league dalton has been the best wr in the league. He was injured most of last year. Arguably, Kenny was the best wr in the league once in the shortened season. That's out of 5 years. 
Kenny is 31 a month into the season. Dalton is 28. 
Dalton has missed time with 1 major injury. Lawler has missed time because he didn't get his passport done in time, DUI, and various injuries. 
Dalton averages almost double the YAC each year and more than double the tds. They have the same number of 100 yard games in their career as well. 
Dalton eclipsed 100 catches in both his healthy seasons. Lawler hasn't done it once. 

Maybe I watched different games last year but I thought the O was pretty lacklustre and disappointing for the amount of money they allocated to the O. Lots of games couldn’t put up 20 points so to see change on the O side of things (woli lawler Dobson) isn’t that surprising. I actually expected it. You can’t bring the same guys back who stunk it up most games last year. I mean believe Calgary was the only team who put up less points on O than we did. Change was inevitable. D was good. It’s just not your regular cfl D ppl are used to but our D was strong last year. We allowed the least amount of points. So all of these changes. They make sense.  Lawler been chasing the $$$ his whole career. 275k is a significant overpay.  I liked the guy but man he’s like OBJ right now. Reputation built on a couple ridiculous catches but take those away and he’s just average or even less than average honestly. 

I too just want to announce that I have absolutely extreme negative emotion about this OC hire, and I am basing it off the tiny percentage of his visible work that I am familiar with. 
In all seriousness I would have hired Jackson and am happy to have him as QBC. Hogan has been around and worked his way up. Anyone pretending to know exactly how it will work out, positive or negative, is hilarious. 

You gotta be really sour to have your mind made up on this being a bad hire.
Keep in mind Buck Pierce hadn't called a play for a PeeWee team before he was given the OC job here.
You've got three experienced CFL coaches leading the offense.  Judgement on Hogan's scheme/play calling can come later.

I don't understand this rumour that Schoen isn't a deep ball threat? lol. WTF have you people been watching? He's made some unbelievable plays on underthrown/challenged deep balls. He's also taken 20 yard catches to the house. He's a threat to score from anywhere on the field.

This is not to take anything away from Lawler, who is obviously one of the best. Both will be back.

Here's the thing tho.... I get that Osh is a lunatic for his vets. But why is Walters caving here and not putting his foot down. That's what I don't get.

Both signings are terrible. Wilson can't stay healthy and neither can Gauthier who is nothing but an aging st player. Both should be easy to replace. Welcome back to the Winnipeg Country Club.

What exactly are you hoping for? Every player to be a stud? It doesn't happen EVER. To get a couple quality starters a year through recruitment is very good recruitment. To get 2 quality starters and another 2-3 players that are showing that they have quality starter potential is even better. 1000 yard receiver, shut down DB, and a productive NAT rookie receiver is a pretty darn good year. Add Wheatfall, Ayers, and Woods to that mix (all players that flashed a high ceiling) and I really have no idea what you are complaining about.

I think they limited Pokie's yards the second half of the season using him mostly inside where Woli and Clercius should dwell, almost every pass thrown his way required him to come back to the ball or stop and wait for the reception allowing defenders to congregate.  He's quick, twitchy and as slippery as an eel, hit him in stride and there's a good chance he's taking it to the house, which he did multiple times in the first half of the season.  With the right QB throwing the ball he should have no problem accounting 1500 yd seasons, if he can stay healthy.  Unbox him, turn him loose.

Honest question...how many new faces (that start/become solid contributors) do you think a team should be bringing in every year? And how many of those new faces should realistically be considered "all stars" for you to be happy with the recruitment?

Also this idea that other teams off casts shouldn't be seen as a find is bizarre. That's literally how this team was built. Either FA signings like Bryant (Which was an obvious homerun signing at the time). Or signing cast offs who other teams gave up on. (Yoshi, Nichols, Collaros, Taylor etc.) Good scouting doesn't just mean bringing in pure rookies.

Ontaria Wilson having a 1000 yard season didn't do it for you I guess? Complain away then....

Every team brings guys like that to camp, it's the keeping and playing that was the issue.

We get it, you want a nice public flogging of the guy but that's not going to happen. 
We just gotta trust that the gm of the team knows what he is doing, and considering we have played in 5 straight Grey cups I am inclined to believe he does.

Neufeld is getting worse and worse in pass pro.  Lots of chicken wings and shoulder checks.  Doesn't get his hands on many people these days.  Toronto ate him alive.  Montreal ate us alive on the whole, we played 1 good quarter against them out of 8 this season.  That's the kind of team you need to be able to handle to win the whole thing.
If a guy like that is on the team next year we're not serious about winning.
Dobson is terribly slow to get his feet moving in both run and pass.  He's ok, and a bit more physically engaged, might be as good as anyone they can get in free agency.
Should be pretty easy decision to focus on building out 3 Americans on the OL for next year short of Desjarlais being cut loose by Ottawa due to his salary or something.

I know a lot of people like Bailey for his emotions and energy. But he just comes off as performative and almost insincere to me. And always has. I will say it's a bit frustrating that he wasn't picked up by the Bombers, but at the same time I could see how his energy may not have always worked.
That speech to the kids just amplified the self importance that seems to ooze from him.
It's weird cause I usually like that type of energy in a player/person....but with him it just comes off a corny more often than not.

I’ll give him a little grace. 11, 50 yard field goals, 2 from 60 plus, he had a bad night with the chipped footballs and was pretty much our only source of points when we offense was struggling in the first half of the season. 

Not sure who is responsible for that truism, but I would bet it comes down to the head coach who decides who is on the field or not. When you look at it, in each consecutive Cup appearance, we have done worse than the previous one. Reminds me of the Russian farmer who, when asked about the current year's crop forecast replied." Worse than last year, but better than next years".
The sooner the better.

Bottom line is Collaros is a perennial choke artist. Won the first Grey Cup with a generational defense, did the absolute bare minimum to win the 2nd. If Steinhauer doesn't hand the Bombers the game on a platter they lose.
