I've heard Walters talk about the roster bonuses and are actually for the most part requested by player agents, they are generally not expecting the team to pay them out at the end but are similar to an option window for players and teams. Darian Durant would technically still be under contract this year without the bonus and be stuck on a depth chart behind a number of QBs in a system he obviously does not feel comfortable in. In addition the Als most likely would have approached him to restructure his contract. If things would have worked out in MTL I have very little doubt Darian would be a richer man right now and MTL would not be in the position they're in.

I fully support the players on this issue, trust me, but what Ambrosie is doing here i believe completely protects his teams and is in the best interest for the league and leave the door open to discussion and change in the near future hopefully.

I say we should sign all the Winnipeggers we can, loyalty is huge in the CFL and being able to keep players for more than one year due to continuity and passion for the organization and the city is paramount.

I don't understand is why would the Argos hold this stance? There is no upside for them in holding these players to these contracts. The players have become very disgruntled and will now never come back to play for them regardless of if they make the NFL or not. Also sets a very poor precedent for the Argos as the players talk and might make it tough for them to sign players in free agency and NFL cast offs.

Listening to the morning show on 1290 this morning Milt came on to talk about this issue. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that the Argos are not giving him a shot at going to the NFL or at have at least started renegotiating his deal, Wilder really holds all the cards here I think as he doesn't have to play and after this whole issue is very unlikely to ever play for the Argos again if he does end up coming back to Canada.
