He threw for over 2500 yds with Montreal in 9 games. And Montreal was a gong-show.

That group can probably make any QB look good. August 15 - Over/Under on Carter's first fist fight?

Except that Durant is damaged. Maybe, behind a good line, he can resurrect his career. Wait and see. Instead, they get Glenn, who, for the price, is serviceable. And no one complains when they insert their 'next' QB in part way through the year. Less upfront money and an easy out. If you're determined NOT to go forward with Durant, Glenn is a reasonable Band-Aid solution (at a low cost). You're not going to pay Glenn's eventual replacement very much anyhow.

Durant signed last week. We're talking about the ageless Glenn now!

Only if he's starting. If he's holding a clipboard, they love him.

I think he had a pretty good relationship with Glenn last year. But who doesn't love Glenn?

RCMP Investgation into WPS HQ
I'm amazed at how laissez-faire this city has been about the level of corruption going on at city hall. I hope that, if the evidence is there, that they can take down Sam, Phil, and the contractors and developers involved.

NHL Injury Watch 2016/17 season
Yes. But Malkin is going to miss the last game prior to the all-star Game, so he's good.

Cap space is eaten up by: 1) QBs - The Riders are not burdened with that luxury item. 2) NI - Another area of concern for the Riders.

Please let it be Kessel. He's funny.

I missed the convo with Heisinger. Thanks!

What? You want the Jets to send a college kid to AHL? This is a first. I thought you would have him playing top pairing d minutes next year?! (I'm just bugging you, of course)

You think Poolman is going make it? I wonder why they couldn't lure him away from UND last spring/summer. I know about his brother, but you would think that the prospect of playing in the NHL would be a strong enough enticement? I wonder what they truly think of him.

Yes, I remember the time Stafford ran down the opponents sideline and initiated contact with the opposition HC. High moral character.

I don't understand either. If it's an incentive laden contract, he's taking a huge risk on the Riders finding a QB AND on a deep and talented receiving corps. Doesn't seem like a good risk. Also, Regina. Yuck.

RethinkIng Paul Maurice....
A bit off topic but a PoMo story none-the-less... I was living in Southern Ontario during PoMo's days with the Leafs. On this particular day, I found myself driving around the GTA, and low and behold, PoMo gets fired from the Leafs. Of course, The FAN590 is full of coverage of the firing and the ongoing speculation about the new coach, etc. The radio host on The Fan manages to get PoMo on the phone to do an interview. It's very, very soon after the announcement. Of course, PoMo is very gracious and thankful for the opportunity to coach the Leafs and disappointed how everything turned out. Everything you would expect him to say, since he's a class act. Anyhow, he's in his car, so it's a quick interview. He's racing to kids school because he knows that the news is going to get to them fast and he wants to tell them first. He doesn't want his children to hear about it on the schoolyard or in passing. I think that's telling just what a great character he is. And, to me, that tells me a lot about what type of dad he is too. I know his character has never been in question but no matter which way this goes, he's a great person.

Game 52 : Lake Winnipeg @ Lake Michigan
I reminded of a comment made Jokinen a few years ago and Toth brought it up again recently on TSN1290 about systems... I guess Kane said something about learning the system and working in the system, blah, blah, blah. Jokinen said that was BS. There were like 5 systems, every player knows them and it's about execution. I don't think the "system" is the problem, I think the execution in the problem. I tend to think that it's mostly on the coaches to get the players to follow the system. I don't think Huddy is effective and, sadly, I don't think Maurice is that effective either. I hope I'm wrong and PoMo can turn this around but I'm losing optimism.

Huddy? Can't see that working. You're not going to bring Vincent up from the Moose... There is no one in the organization. Better to wait until the summer, when quality coaches become available.

Could just be waiting for a chance to get Carter into town, for the dog-and-pony show that will follow. Not uncommon across the league, including re-signing our own Matt Nichols. Better sign him, there are some on the Rider site which have already changed their avatar to Carter, even in his Als jersey. Thought that was weird.

And replace him with who?

Game 51 : Great White @ Great White North
Yes, I remember the discipline, cohesion and structure this team had during Ladd's tenure here.

Agreed, but it might be more prudent to secure an agreement before dumping your current GM? The idea being that Popp > Barker > Anyone else available. By the sounds of the things though, they haven't secured anyone, so perhaps I've given the Argos too much credit.
