Bench Streveler Again
True. I'm sure they hash things out and come to some type of consensus or disagree but commit position. I'm guessing that sometimes though arriving at the point of lockstep may be a bit rocky. Perhaps O'Shea lobbies for certain players longer or harder than maybe Miller and Walters, certainly the fans, would like.

Week of Stamps @ Bombers
Wonder which receiver sits with Adams back in the line up - Whitehead or Bailey. My guess O'Shea will sit Bailey. I'd sit Whitehead. According to a "CFL Insider" quoted in Kirk Penton's weekly column on The Athletic, " I don't know why (the Bombers) haven't played number 88 (Rasheed Bailey) more, but he's a good football player". Us too CFL Insider! But I guess you have not been introduced to Coach O'Shea.

Bench Streveler Again
Your post nailed it. To me a pro head coach should demonstrate loyalty to his players by not crapping on them in the media. If a player fumbles, misses a tackle, whatever, as a good pro head coach you don't use that as an excuse to dump on a player publicly. It's a team game, lots of chances to win, he's a key member of our team blah, blah, blah. But, I'd tell all players behind closed doors enjoy every moment of being a pro athlete because it can end very quickly. Injuries, contract issues, or performance. If another player can perform better than you, they will play. Period. Happens to every pro player at some point. At some point some QB will be a better option than Tom Brady. O'Shea seems very reluctant to give that message to players. Makes me wonder what happened with Drew Willy all those years ago. Did Kyle Walters pull rank and tell O'Shea that Willy was done?

Week of Stamps @ Bombers
Agree. How about, "Streveler is injured, but we're going to see how much he improves over the next day or so and make a decision." It's like he's implying that what everyone saw (Streveler clearly injured) never happened. Baffling.

Week of Stamps @ Bombers
It would be a great Bombers type story. Collaros goes on a run, wins against Calgary, wins a playoff game, narrowly loses Western final, then we spend the entire winter debating whether we should pay $600K per year and lose our first round pick to sign a guy with a history of concussion issues based on three games. It's so us!

Practice? We're talking about practice? Strev don't need no practice!

Bench Streveler Again
Amen! I love Harris. But if our offense is going to be run based, why not also use another RB who produced when he was in? The RB platoon approach like many NFL teams use. Keeps Harris fresh. Keeps the defense thinking. Line up both in the back field a few plays. Offset I; split backs. Something!

Bench Streveler Again
Ha! So true. My current fault ranking (which changes daily) 1. O’Shea 2. Lapo 3. Joe Mack 4. Buzz 5. Hall 6. O’Shea again but from 2017 and 2018

Bench Streveler Again
Me - Collaros 100%. QB job is wide open as far as I’m concerned as fake head coach. Not hating on Streveler. But if he gets beat out by someone else that’s pro sports. And Collaros was (key word) a legit top tier QB in the CFL. Wouldn’t bet my mortgage on it happening again, but wouldn’t bet on Streveler ever hitting that level O’Shea - he’d go back to Streveler. “Gives us the best chance to win”

GDT: Bombers at Stamps
Yup. That is why BLM gets the $$$. Because having an elite QB is pretty much the most important thing. Something the Bombers haven’t had since ... ?

Bench Streveler Again
“Strev is tough. A real competitor. So when he said he was good to go as long as he could play the game seated on an electric scooter I said put the ball in the front basket and get out there with your teammates.” Mike O’Shea - post game. October 25, 2019

Osh is a Legend
Probably. Makes sense. But a headshot on a QB? Even if he “ducked” (which implies he purposely did so which is nuts)? You’ll never win that challenge.
-
Osh is a Legend
Some NFL writer tweeted the stats for coach’s challenges and coaches win somewhere around 10% of challenges. I can’t remember who but I’ll post if I find it. So basically from an analytics perspective it’s a waste of time

Osh is a Legend
I used to scoff at people who would post that O’Shea is too much of a player’s coach. But now I wonder. You can’t be a jerk nobody wants to play for, and you shouldn’t throw players under the bus. But, you do have to be able to make personnel decisions even when it may hurt some feelings. He sticks with some players too long, doesn’t play some who perform better than starters (Petermann), and then leaves in an injured Streveler in basically a lost cause because he wanted to go out and compete? How about, sorry Chris you’re done for tonight. For your sake and the team. Thank you, but you’re done. It’s like he doesn’t want to have difficult conversations. That’s your job!

Osh is a Legend
No I don’t. And there will be changes in our the off season. Has to happen

Osh is a Legend
Gotcha. I for one did not question Nichols toughness. He’s had a lot of injuries, and that happens. And surgery to throwing shoulder would worry me as GM. But he’s tough, no question. People should watch some NFL films mic’ed up footage of Matt Stafford or Andrew Luck. Tough position to play, and tough dudes. They get killed out there
-
Osh is a Legend
I don’t know if “you” is me or the collective. I don’t recall many posters saying to play Streveler because he’s “tougher” than Nichols. People said play him because he’s a much better athlete and can make things happen running. That’s where he’s better than Nichols. Both are tough. QB’s are the toughest players on any football team without question.

Osh is a Legend
I believe you. You were there. But when it happened he basically couldn’t put weight on his leg. That’s not a shake it off thing. It’s not like it was half time in the Grey Cup. There were a few minutes left in a game we were likely losing. Let McGuire finish, tell Streveler thank you, and let’s get you healthy for next week
-
Osh is a Legend
And “a little nicked up” is really downplaying what everyone watching the game saw. For a guy who’s a player’s coach doesn’t exactly speak volumes that he’s considering their overall health
-
Osh is a Legend
Interesting. Thanks for the first hand account. Streveler obviously is a great competitor who would keep playing through anything. But a coach has to think of the overall welfare of the team and the player. Streveler could have been hurt further. Plus, is a significantly injured Streveler better than a healthy McGuire?

Osh is a Legend
According to Ted Wyman form the Sun. Most of the beat writers said Streveler was really limping. It’s borderline negligence by O’Shea. Here's #Bombers coach Mike O'Shea on decision to send a clearly banged-up quarterback Chris Streveler back into the game for a couple of offensive series at the end of 37-33 loss to Stampeders on Saturday. #CFL

GDT: Bombers at Stamps
I have no idea what this means. Enjoy your evening

GDT: Bombers at Stamps
Ha! Okay. Like it or not football has moved to no headshots. So you’re dumb as a coach to challenge a clear headshot, whatever the intent was
-
GDT: Bombers at Stamps
Streveler can barely walk on the sidelines. How do you put him back in as head coach?
-
GDT: Bombers at Stamps
Okay. Guess the CFL officials and I can all give a big shake
