Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
- Andrew Ladd
He's not that big but 6 feet and 214 lbs. isn't small. He's going to be a good player.- Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
Here's what Jetsnation has to say about Dano... Dano was ultimately drafted 27th overall in the 2013 draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. This means the Jets add another to an already very large draft class of 2013 that includes Josh Morrissey, Nic Petan, Eric Comrie, Jimmy Lodge, JC Lipon (although was 2011 eligible), Andrew Copp (although was 2012 eligibile), Jan Kostalek, Tucker Poolman (although was 2011 eligible), Brenden Kichton (re-drafted), and Marcus Karlstrom (plus Axel Blomqvist who was signed to an ELC out of training camp). Dano was drafted out of the KHL, where he has a career 12 points over 78 games over two seasons at 18 and 19-years-of-age. He shifted over to North America late in 2014 where he has scored 48 points over 83 regular season games. He also has NHL experience with 21 points over 35 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and then 2 points over 13 games for the Chicago Blackhawks after being traded as part of the Brandon Saad deal. While Dano's NHL sample is small, he has performed extremely well under limited and sheltered minutes. Dano has paced 2.32 points per sixty minutes of 5v5 ice time. For contextual perspective, only Wheeler has paced over 2 points per sixty this season for the Jets. We would not expect that type of pace to persist, especially given his AHL pace, but it is still promising to see. The young forward's deployment has leaned towards offensive opportunities, but still Dano's teams have controlled 54.33 per cent of shots with Dano on the ice, while only controlling 49.08 per cent with him on the bench. A good comparison for Dano's performance this season in the AHL may be the Jets' own Nic Petan. Dano is slightly older but similar age. This season Petan has paced 0.56 primary points per game, while Dano has paced 0.41 points per game. Dano though tends to shoot the puck more with his 2.2 shots per game versus Petan's 1.9. Most of Dano's AHL contributions this year though has come from the power play, with Petan pacing 0.44 primary even strength points per game, while Dano sits at 0.235. Dano has experience playing centre, although he most plays on the wing. He is a left-handed shot, although tends to prefer to play on his "off-wing" much like Nikolaj Ehlers. Overall, Dano fits a style the style for the team Kevin Cheveldayoff seems to be trying to build with additions like Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor. Dano is both fast and quick, as he has a okay top-gear (not nearly Connor or Ehlers speed though) but can accelerate quickly. His strength with his speed is more the pace he can keep up and his ability to make plays at his top-speed. He excels at breaking into the zone with the puck and, despite being under 6-feet-tall, he isn't afraid to drive into the tough areas. We discussed earlier that the Jets wishing to compete over the next few years will likely need to additions, upgrading two top-nine wingers and adding to Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers, Mathieu Perreault, and Drew Stafford. Unless something dramatic changes or players struggle to reach their potential, these two needed additions may be adequately filled by Marko Dano and Kyle Connor.- Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
Not much, he came on with just under 30 seconds to go after the PP ended. I would have played him the full 2 minutes of the PP. We had the game in hand. He's as cool as a cucumber with the rubber out there.- Jets Prospects
Exactly. I like how Staf has played since arriving and really helped us get into the playoffs last year but he can be replaced by Armia for half of what he is getting. IF Ehlers plays left wing with Sheif and Wheeler (and why the hell did Maurice ever break up that line?), I would rather see Armia and Dano getting the ice ti me, not Staf. What would Staf get us? A first? Boston? Jersey? Avs?- Andrew Ladd
I think his ceiling is more 2nd liner and if he doesn't hit it, he will be a good, defensive 3rd liner but who knows at 21 years old. Lemieux Lowry Dano might be a nice line. Rotoworld has him at 6 feet and 214 lbs. I like how Chevy drafts so a very late round 1st is very good as well.- Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
I forgot, if I were Maurice, I would have had Armia on more towards the end of the game to try to get him his hatty.- Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
2 or 3 year bridge...not sure how arbitration works with him but keep away from it. You pay him what he is worth so when his bridge is over he knows and expects to be paid fairly. He is worth 2-3 years at 2-2.25m in my opinion. Armia really tilts that trade if you ask me. Oduya had to watch the replay to figure it out....... Lowry should play a little more inspired like he did tonight. I liked Hutch's game but the 3rd? goal would have been stopped by a Jr. B goalie. Man the youngsters we have in this system sure look promising. Matthews would be so huge to this franchise. Getting a bona fide 1LHD sure would be nice too. Chevy is going to have a lot of assets in 2-3 years and will be able to fine tune the team with what he has stockpiled. I wonder if there is more trades to come?- Andrew Ladd
Chevy says Ladd had a 15 team list he could be traded to. Things heated up in the last 24-48 hours. He mentioned dealing with other GMs is like playing poker and there are a lot of other GMs kicking the tires. I think Chevy did a good job with what he had to deal with and brought back what he thought was the best deal.- Around the NHL
Rather see them get Matthews than Deadmonton...- The Jets' Coaches
who designs the systems though?- Andrew Ladd
I can't see it happening. If they could have agreed on a deal, you would think it would have happened already. Hutch or Pavs or Staf or anyone else getting traded? I wonder where Dano starts? 4th line with Copp and ? or higher up the roster?- Andrew Ladd
Ladd will get grossly overpaid this summer.- Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
He should get 2 or 2.25 for a bridge.- Jets Prospects
If he makes the team I see him more as a checking LWer or center.- Game 60 : Alive @ Stars
Hutch has been good and Armia could've had another one.- Andrew Ladd
who wore the A last game? Wheeler and ?- Andrew Ladd
Who else wore the A when Stuart went down?- Jets Prospects
Harkins has regressed, what makes you think he will make the team?- Jets Prospects
Which is why I said in no real order...- Around the NHL

Wheeler or Buff wearing the "C" tonight?- Andrew Ladd
Marko Dano is okay with Chicago's decision to send him to the minors. "I didn’t get too much ice time so I was talking to Coach and Stan about that and I think it’s a good move," Dano said. "I’m going to get a lot of ice-time opportunities on the power play and penalty kill here. I can get better in what I was doing there. If I would be sitting in the stands it wouldn’t help me at all. I’m glad I can be here and can play some hockey again." Dano had played in just 13 games with the Blackhawks and was only averaging 9:41 minutes per contest when he did dress. He has the potential to develop into a solid top-six forward. It makes sense for Chicago to be patient with him by giving him a chance to develop in the minors and it's good that Dano seems to have a positive attitude about it. Thu, Dec 24, 2015 04:13:00 PM Sure doesn't sound like Drouin does he?- Andrew Ladd
