I'm not sure that was a great defensive effort, as we gave up 42 shots, but they blocked a lot of shots and played a pretty physical game, so that's a good sign. Helle was very solid and the main reason we held on for the W.

Looks like Stafford will be on the 2nd with Tanev and Petan. Laine will drop to the 3rd with Lowry and Copp. And yes, Thorburn and Burmistrov continue to play, with De Leo sitting out. Howden looks to be the odd man out and will be sent back to the Moose.

What is JoMo supposed to do? That was a textbook hit,he kept his arm down and drove through the guy. He shouldn't be penalized because that dude had his head down and paid for it. A head shot should be when the head is actually targeted.

It would be nice to trade Thorbs and Burmi, but I can't imagine there's much of a market, if any. Burmi could maybe get us a mid-late draft pick? Thorburn? Can't see getting anything for him. Hope I'm wrong.

Hard to say what might have prompted Lawless to make the comment.... I wouldn't be surprised if Miller and Walters are wanting things to change on D. Hopefully they'll take a good long look a it.

I honestly can't see how they would improve quickly. Hall has coached the same type of defense his entire career. I'm not sure he is capable of making changes to his schemes... If he is, why hasn't he?
