… I feel like you stick to an opinion and you are literally just unable to process a different viewpoint. He’s not comparing Cobb to Lawler. He’s saying he’s our fifth option, other guys had huge games. Not every receiver is going to get 100 yards a game. Our offense is clicking and you’re bitching and whining that we didn’t invest into THREE free agent receiver big ticket items (and also somehow forgetting that you pretended we didn’t sign ANY)

All of this is very wrong for all of the reasons already outlined in the last dozen posts. Brady, Demski, Nield, Neufeld, Wallace, Bryant If we were using our ratio to its full extent, this easily accomplishes what we want it to without us being pigeon holed into a Canadian fullback, tight end, receiver, whatever for that last spot.

Choosing to make that argument when our wb goes over 400nyards passing and multiple receivers had very good stats lines seems like poor timing for this argument.

On a positive note for bombers, it does seem like every defence in the league is terrible this year

Look at it from a different perspective - we literally handed this guy a roster spot. That spot doesn’t need to be a Canadian at all - the minute we start using the roster rules appropriately, we could change absolutely nothing about our current roster except make Daniels an American and finally call Stanley Bryant a Canadian like we are allowed to. Daniels doesn’t need to be interchangeable with those guys at all, he is currently required to by nature of us ignoring the roster rules because O’Shea doesn’t “believe in them”.

Basically...exactly..just way it is...as at end of day its his ass on the line and he has to answer to, and be responsible for end result...

We've had this discussion before. with you or others, I can't remember. A coaching staff is not a democracy. It's collaborative to a point. However, the Head Coach has final say in everything from play calling & schemes to personnel on the field. If Osh says no on any subjecy then the discussion is over. Yes, the D is on Younger responsibility but he still answers to Osh. If the HC wants to make changes like changing coordinators, simplifying the schemes or cutiing players then he will do it as he has that authority. Whether anyone disagrees or not.

Something is going on with defences.... This week almost every QB had career numbers....virtually every defence was lit up. Not defending ours as it was bad, but look a the numbers for Kelly, Alexander, Collars, Bo, Rourke and Harris....what the.....actually heck, look at those numbers....

Is Kian Schafer-Baker the most insufferable & unlikeable receiver in the CFL? The constant posing after a catch. Lying on the ground & pretending to chill should have been a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. He just looks like & acts like a fool.

Ratio advantage if yeah a starter...and u have a backup to compliment..right now he just an end of roster guy We used multiple looks with him and Eli at same time..we could have done same with one of MCI or Clercius when healthy and used that pick on a legit reciever to compliment what we have and be able to pooch Cobb and Corc's or grabbed another defensive guy who can actually play...not just run up and down field covering kicks If anything thats the easiest thing to do on a roster...so picking scrubs with no upside is just a waste really Osh lost his plans.. when is last time he did anything unpredictable or against the grain? Besides crappy roster choices We have no plan...or is it poor arcitecture? We have this dumb idea we can go 3 national recievwrs..so we hold 3 imports on the PR...ass backwards Thing is its easy...we just dont give new or young guys the opportunity...and play tires with no tread basically right up to the steel belts

By that logic the ultimate responsibility for the roster construction is KWs. If he has a coach exhibiting flaws he is responsible for correcting it.

We dont k kw what osh hy younger has all the Americans on the roster cuz younger wants them. Our D sucks through 2 games tho, our O doesn’t, our sp teams don’t. That’s on younger. In defense of defenses, I think some, I repeat some not all, of it might be the advantage the league is giving to the offenses e.g. limiting the holding calls allowing qb’s to run thru their reads.

So guess Montreal and Toronto don’t have a D either ???

Of course that's how the ratio works whether he's a full time starter or not. Daniels comes on and a Canadian receiver comes off. If the TE is an American then an import receiver comes off. Obviously in order to make room for an import TE then someone like Ayers would have to come off. Regardless, that TE would have to be capable of being an offensive weapon and not just an extra blocker. You even suggested that requirement. At the moment we've already switched to a 3 Canadian receiver in order to have 3 import OL. The only other option is to replace an import OL for a Canadian for those snaps a import TE is used. There are only 4 DI roster spots which is the bigger issue IMO. We're already NOT choosing to have a receiver as a DI. We CHOOSE to draft a Canadian TE as part of the equation forming the ratio and use of our DI's.

How can that not be on O'Shea? He's the Head Coach. All final decisions rest with him including personne, who plays & schemes. Didn't we have this discussion last November when this group was polarized to fire or rehire Walters & Osh?

Yes. Not taking advantage of the DA rule is pretty ridiculous. It’s interesting seeing our depth chart vs others. I’m always like what is this DA thing Calgary is using or Hamilton or Toronto or bc or Sask or Ottawa or Montreal or Quebec City or Edmonton even.

Just to touch on scouting and add to the conversation, look how much new talent we were pumping out from 2018-2022, who is a high impact player we’ve added in the past three years? Holm is the only example I can thing of. Obviously elite football players don’t grow on trees but when your core is starting to age out you have to build from scouting or free agency. Obviously I like what we did during free agency but when you’re picking up vets to fill those holes you’re paying a premium. Part of bringing in young talent is they’re still on rookie contracts, I think our team and roster is starting to see the consequences of poor scouting over the last couple of seasons.

I guess the problem I see. I’ll use Kramdi as an example. Regardless of what some say, the guy makes plays when he’s closer to the LOS, when he’s a LB, I think he’s a legit starting Canadian in the league. JY puts him at safety, further away from the LOS, he becomes less effective. I think instead of trying to reinvent the wheel on D, you just need to put guys in spots they are best and leave them there, how can you possibly gain any sort of defensive momentum or I’ll call it synergy when you constantly moving dudes around. Kyrie in the middle has been a disaster? Jones makes 8 tackles a game and none for losses but they are moved around quite a bit also. Hell one of these games ceresna gonna line up at corner.

He had 4 less receiving yards than Kenny lawler last game on 1 less catch. I mean do you think all our receivers should be pushing 100 yards cuz besides Cobb, Nield was over 100. Wilson was close, Demski And white each had 79 yards. Brady had 51 receiving. The last option had 4 less yards than lawler.

Randolph is a big meh to me. His pass protection was horrible and a big reason why our O stank last season. See a massive difference changing him out for Broxton already. Collaros has a chance to get his eyes downfield and get the ball out without having to scramble every drop.

Kelly over others on roster Kolo over any pylon we had JT over many a DT The Marine Corcoran over Clercius last yr...I dont care if ZC was annoyed..he doesn't pick the roster Sam Hurl Kramdi over Griffin Korn...just being on a roster Thats just off top my head Sure the ownus is on Walters but he isnt out scouting guys..he just signs what the scouts bring to him...he looks at cis talent certainly and we've missed on a lot of picks..hit on a few Guys tho cut in camp who never really got a shot cause it was predetermined we were going with the old vet..thats on Osh...and who knows what they could have done..I sure that happens elsewhere too and rarely u grab an other teams tc castoff right away until you exhausted your own work first. Funny tho most of the guys we had rostered and moved on from before seem to land elsewhere and play well..and play for a while...this season alone we seen a ton of it Again..I agree its a collective effort...but end of day its one guy picking the roster..and making the decisions A collective coaching effort is coaches suggesting...not demanding and having final say...its the HC and if he sees a coach leaning to a lesser player he needs to have the ability to say...Nope , not happening A HC letting a assistant coach or a meddling owner pick his roster...is on fast track to unemployment...or middling success

Offence has dramatically improved over last year. Our problem in our loss this week was the D. I could give a crap what Wheatfall and Sterns did this week. They both had big games for us too..problem was they only produced 2 or 3 of them in a season. I'll call letting them go a mistake when they actually put up a decent season not just show the occasional flash. They were two guys that the vast majority of this forum wanted gone. What's changed? Then what the **** was it? The int that was tossed wasn't his fault. Receiver wound up on his ass. He threw a touchdown pass to Nield early which the Receiver didn't haul in. If the defense had played half assed decently, not even good, just not god awful collaros likely drops 40 points on Hamilton and goes over 500 yards.

I stick to an opinion because my belief system tells me I'm right. I don't expect every Bomber receiver to get a thousand yards & I never said anything like that about Cobb. I do expect our receivers to work together as a unit making it difficult for defenses to cover them all completely. To me, Cobb is not a threat nor is he even a concern. We let Wheatfall & Stearns go & so far playing on teams with OC's not named Hogan, they look very good. Yeah, our passing attack is working but we're only as good as our weakest link. We also are thin at receiver with little depth. One or two injuries & we'll be in trouble like last season. We're fine as long as we're healthy. Think Cobb will step up if he is called upon? Maybe but I doubt it.
