you can't not play guys in certain spots to avoid injury....thats bad coaching....injuries are gonna happen....playing scared or conservative is playing not to truly win with your best options Logan is a powerfully built guy...who is multi-faceted in what he can do....to not take advantage of that for fear of injury is just bad use of a player.....do your due dilegence and roster/PR construct to have several options already in house for any injury issues....as opposed to loading the roster after your starting 24 and main 3 subs with bottom of roster plugs who really...are not worthy of really being on a pro roster other than running down the field on ST's Same with how we have valued some intangibles with some players over others who were better players....makes for nice press but doesn't equate to wins and a deeper roster by any stretch

Disagree. Sure he’s had some clunkers in the playoffs, but he’s been having his best season so far and taking his speed and skill out of the lineup is most definitely a big loss.
  4. 2 points
yup...agreed....from lack of reps at the collegiate level as a ball carrier he got too upright and needs to rediscover his pad levels again....I think he can do it I don't project him as a bell cow by any means...his body type...ala Dickerson...among others are just not 3 down ball carriers anymore...Unless you could create a Marcus Dupree again in a lab His athleticism and strength...and his speed there no reason he cant be a 400 yard on the ground and 300 to 400 in passing in a type of hybrid role tho....as well as key in the Jumbo packages and play teams

If he wasn't the degenerate that he is...He's be holding a clip board down in The League....the fact that he isn't tells you all you need to know...He was on his last chance here...and really...If the Argo's and the League hadn't dropped the ball and had some stones....he's be outta football now
  6. 2 points
I hope we dont basically waste MCI by just making him another Feltmate...as thats what I see occuring The fact that you can bring a big bodied guy in that has ultra athleticism you gotta find ways to disguise his use from just crashing down off the edge...every play.....you could in all practicality use any player for soley just that role....my as well find a Canadian Armed forces guy to do it instead of burning a valuable DI spot on and American one all yr like we did...lol...I kidding here but u know what I mean...If your "end" is a threat to take a pass...toss....it helps that jumbo short yardage package even more as he needs to be accounted for We used to be unique...use sneaky plays...obscure rules....took chances...what happened to that...since we have become pedestrian vanilla/predictable in a lot of in game situations...we have gone 0-3 in GreyCups....
  7. 2 points
yeah wasnt attacking u by any means...was adding to what u said...and agree....prob will get limited....hope he doesnt....he shouldn't as @wbbfan brought up...how we structure our roster we have limited DI options...tho maybe with a solid draft and a switch with not being so concrete in what we do position wise we can better use our DI's Also a more liberal use of our Nationalized Americans we can off-set our limited roster flexibility As much as I like what Castillo can do...I hate burning a DI in that spot...we should be doing whatever it takes to nationalize that spot....Punter too....I have no issue with a Global there and not better using one as a quality rotational piece if said Punter was head and shoulders one the best in the league.....and he far from that

Yep, if Kelly wasn't such a bad apple he wouldn't be in this conversation. However, he has been, and likely will be again, chaos for every team he's played for. If he had half a noodle in his head he could be a franchise guy for many years for the Argos, heck he might even be in the NFL.

New players yeah...who deserve it..we kept other guys on team for several yrs too on pr for most part..where they now? As a professional staff...should be pretty easy to weed out the inadequate fairly fast

Zach isn't blm or Nichols... blm is a pure pocket passer so age is less of an issue compared to collaros who when you think of his career highlights includes the houdini act escaping pressure with his legs and finding the play downfield... he's lost a step and can't perform that magic. He's also not Nichols... he has always sucked at the short quick game. Again, he's a buy time find a play type qb.
  15. 1 point
The talent gap between a top 1/3 cfl p/k and even the bottom tier in the nfl is gigantic now. Legs has been hitting about 90% the last two years with out a sniff. We can and do sign guys to longer. If any thing, the problem is a lack of talent at the position these days. I’d also settle for a global who can do both jobs, but the leg talent up side is much higher there.

  18. 1 point
yeah its really hard to burn a DI on a k, plus a global on a P. We should work on developing a K again that is G or Ni and who can do all the jobs. In the mean time we should also give the P job to sergio too. I like that he has a high floor, but I hope we don't give up on his high ceiling as well. I hope he was working his butt off in the off season on running and catching drills. I hope we see a heavy dose of him carrying the rock in camp and PS this year.

Not really what I meant, but your point is valid. What I am saying is that he will get limited reps in the backfield to also not wear him down too much and because they will want him preparing and ready to excel at returner. Should he be a more valuable asset on offence than on teams we may flip the script but with BO back there reps are going to be hard to come by anyway. The days of teams lining up two RBs in the same backfield are long gone. I think MCI will get far more offensive reps than Logan.

I agree. He is a lowlife, and unfortunately, the Argos seem to have quite a low bar on who they will employ. Mind you the Riders would likely snap up a guy of his character just as quickly.
  22. 1 point
Other than a couple of top tier receivers, which position has seen a reduction in salary? Linemen on both sides of the ball have been going up, as have LB's and DB's. The salary cap is going up and every position has benefitted.

I'd take any one over that guy. Idc who they are or how talented they are. 600k is maybe more silly money than it used to be. With most of the other top positions having their salaries go down rather than up the gap is bigger than its been in a long while. 600k is more than the 2 highest paid none qbs in the league. Last year and prior it was less than 2 of the top few. Now with the cap going up, 600k next year likely won't be as much an outlier. We could see a few of the 200-250k guys going up to 300k range.

Not sure, but maybe back in the Mike Riley days, I thought he was paid over $700k to sign with the Lions. BLM got a significant raise around the same time from the Stamps that put him up around $600k to keep pace. I don't think any other QB benefited, Ricky Ray was trending down at that time and Zach hadn't yet started his resurgence. Going way back, Cal Murphy paid Dunigan enough to almost bankrupt the Bombers, I think it was around $800k. That would have been during the marquee player exemption, kicked off by the Argos signing Rocket Ismail, who to this day is the highest paid player in CFL history at $4.55 million per season. Whether Bruce McNall actually paid him that amount or not is still disputed.

yup....we need to build a system that can work in various ways and if something isnt there...we have other bullets in the gun...we went away from that and yup...boom or bust was the result I think if we can get ZC head into the idea of a more surgical an dare I say game manager...I'd rather say game controller mode...he may actually look like he has had a resurgenace.....he's not a gunslinger anymore, or a play extender running around waiting for things to open up...we do this.....He may even have another yr or 2 in him with a solid group around him After Bucks first yr, where he kinda took some DC's by surprise...he was figured out and in my opinion was what ailed us on offence all yr.....compound that with the brain dead idea to not play anyone in the off-season...Trying to make Mitchel and Johnson a thing and no ability to adjust...well the early season results was inevitable

Also, I know fans like to **** on Chevy but he should win GM of the year. For the Jets to win the Presidents' Trophy while being on most players' no trade trade list is an accomplishment to say the least.
  29. 1 point
This is a good point. I don't understand how there is so little chatter for Arneil for the Jack Adams. Most so called experts had the Jets as a bubble playoff team at best. Winning the President's trophy would seem to indicate a coach who elevated his team above expectations. Another reason for this team to play the underdog card as motivation.

The only way the Jets will get real respect is winning the Cup and that might not even do it, i.e. I can see the headline now, Jets win Cup only because of Helle now back to the Leafs and how they're one player away from winning it all.

I suspect stem cell therapy played a role, he's from Texas and Mexico is right next door, quite a few NFL players have used it with good results. I can't recall another QB that has rehabilitated their throwing arm so thoroughly, by the end of last season BLM was throwing some beautiful balls effortlessly.

Amazing really. Winnipeg was the best team in the league this regular season. Gotta give props to Chevy and Arniel. Arniel should be up for Jack Adams honestly. fun fact tho lol. In 10 years when ppl look back we will see Logan Stanley as a guy who played the majority of the presidents trophy winning season and put up a career high in points.

Calgary won Sunday so they are still in. They basically need to win their last 2 games to have a chance and have Minni lose in regulation or St Louis lose in OT/shootout. If Calgary loses in regulation on Tuesday night we will find out who the Jets are up against.

Hell.yeah....like to see him incorporated as true TE in sets..sub 4.5 speed...size...whats not to like Yup...needs reps and some quality coaching...once its instinct for him to run with a lower pad level and see plays develop...could be a real asset From all accounts he has good hands...so I'd love to see some slot/TE work and swing/wheel plays out of backfield Intruiging guy...in space or a seam he can definitely run away from pretty much anyone and also run you over...he just needs reps...and developed...this new OC and Jackson could be a godsend for him...Buck had no clue what to do with him...and Osh even less so guys just get wasted...
  38. 1 point
Mci needs more time to develop as a ball carrier imo. We will see where he is at in pre season though soon.
  39. Any room left in the pool for MCI?
  40. 1 point
Imagine BO and Logan in backfieldd with Streveler...used as an actual QB with just the threat he "may" run ...key word being may....so many possibilities.....toss in some heavy Demski in motion again......good luck with that yeah ZC at this point just needs to play within...be smart with ball and take whats there.....pushing it will open up if he does that Getting a sense we are gonna be a more possession ...methodical offence this yr....grinding unit As mentioned by others as well would love to see us morph a Clercius at times, or a different big bodied receiver as a true tight end thats used as a passing option...MCI could even fit that scenario...spread out the defense in the box and draw guys away from the scrum with a legit receiving option breaking off the edge
