Don't take this the wrong way, Tracker. I'm just clarifying a few points that have always bothered me about this, "He can't play so he coaches stuff". Some of the best coaches that exist coach high school & community sports. My AD at Centennial High School in Calgary when I worked as as an Educational Assistant there was on Canada's Olympic Volleyball Team in 1976. Also playd for a couple of years on Canada's National Volleyball team. He went to the U of Wpg & was Garth Pischke's teammate there & when they represented Canada. The HC of the senior football team at Centennial was a star linebacker at Acadia. Tore his knee up his senior year which ended his career. He turned the football program around at our high school from a team that couldn't win a game. They had maybe 30 kids at practice on a good day playing in Division 3 ball & there wa sapathy a plenty whn it came to football. He transformed his sad sack senior team into one that rose to Div 1 with 65 players wanting to play within 3 years of him taking over. He had an infectious personality & was always positive even when they struggled on the field. His players loved him. Especially on defense as he was also the DC. He also convinced the entire team to get into the weight room for off season workouts where the previous coach had failed. We had a couple of excellent basketball coaches coaching the boys & girls teams who certainly raised the profile of the sport in our school. As well as soccer & rugby, too. In community football here in Calgary, I've had the pleasure to be on the staff of coaches who were great players in their day. One in particular is a City of Calgary Police Officer who is retiring at the end of June but is still coaching into his late 60's. He won 2 Vanier Cups back to back in 1984 & 85, I believe with the U of C Dinos. From everything I heard about him, he was a tiger on the field & loved to crash & bang. He's been coaching football since the late 1990's. One of Tyler's teammates back in high school is now the HC of the University of Regina. Another friend of his who was a qb for another HS team in Calgary is now the OC at the University of Saskatchewan. A former bantam teammate is also DC at the U of C. There others I just can't remember. My response to the, "If you can't play then coach" BS is the people who say that are people who can't play OR coach. They'd have a hard time even managing a pee wee team. None of these guys should be made to feel like they're somehow faiures because they coach. It's just a natural progression for all of them.

I really got a lot of the same feeling. Some of zachs comments seemed guarded in a way that hinted at things with buck previously not being great. And that he just wants to be on the same page as hogan. Overall I thought it was heavy on fluff. And to be fair it is likely that is what people tune into these things for. Some highlights: Vaughters was careful in his wording of why things in calgary fell off, a lot of it sounded applicable to us though as well. Loved his comments about guys putting in all the little bits of hard work in order to win and his move here being based on wanting to win. Wallace talking about his recovery sounds very promising, as well as his continued improvements to his conditioning. Love that buffalo moved him side to side and out to tackle from early on in his days in practice. Hogan didn't give much for specifics, which is no surprise. Sounds like hes been going down the rabbit hole a bit in terms of what is in vogue down south these days. Said he likes simple concepts but has a special interest in trick plays and stuff that has higher engagement. Honestly he sounded a lot like lapo, but it is a very brief conversation.

We can blame buck for not off setting some of zach and the offenses weaknesses. Zach is a chucker, and if you don't give him a clear effective path to victory with your game plan, thats gonna happen a lot.

NFL Canada awards youth football programs $75,000 through inaugural Forward Pass contribution https://3downnation.com/2025/02/25/nfl-canada-awards-youth-football-programs-75000-through-inaugural-program/ Notta lotta money, can't see why the CFL can't do things like this. $75k split 3 ways, one of the teams that received a $25k donation was the North Winnipeg Nomads Football Club.

Obviously I'm not an expert but one way to keep the O simple is when you have the best RB in the league deploy him (health permitting) with discipline to help the receivers with separation, i.e., DB's.
  6. 3 points
Hogan mentioned keeping his offence simple, which probably reflects how much trouble they had with rookie receivers not understanding the playbook well last season.

These Power Rankings just in: Argos suck.

They absolutely do. My boy is currently taking part in a free blue bomber camp that started in November and runs to the end of march. Players also go out to practices throughout the year. Bombers have replaced old equipment for organizations etc etc etc. So they definitely do their part. Saying that. It's the Bombers doing it. Not the CFL....which is what I think Fatty livers point was.

We can blame Buck for the ridiculous Grey Cup scheme that used the league MOP as a decoy rather than actually run the ball. Was quietly very happy when BC scooped him up to be the head coach. I put a lot of the last Cup loss on Pierce’s game plan.

Haven't been on much to see this and reply the ones that came to mind for me that I was referring to are when he was coming back early in the season and was #2 on the depth chart for a game. I don't remember what he said but I remember thinking I'd prefer if he had just kept quiet. Everybody knows he's the guy, and he's going to be the guy, but at that time no need to publicly question coaching decisions. Behind closed doors go for it, but no need to do it in the media.

What is it with you? If anyone here criticizes Osh you get all worked up because we're not being nice to him. Then when we are being nice & saying good things, you get all worked up again claiming he gets disgusted when people compliment him or say nice things about him. We know Osh is humble but you take it to the nth degree. Just enjoy it when we are being nice here.

Jeffcoat getting hurt and not coming back was the beginning of the end. We had no 3rd DE and were playing 3 DT's. Honestly putting A linebacker there would have been better. Playing 3-4.

Is it unfair to suggest that Barry Trotz is showing he may be better coach, a better advisor than he is a General Manager?

An issue that can't be understated from last year for sure. Buck is a very good OC if you give him what he had to start with. the second we started to rebuild our offensive player group the wheels fell off. That's not a knock on Buck's offence, just that it needs continuity of personnel and perhaps a slight criticism of his ability to tweak his offence to accommodate a bit of a rebuild of our receiving corps.

I believe the Bombers help out minor football. Some of the money is the proceeds of the 50/50 sales. https://www.bluebombers.com/2023/08/22/blue-bombers-announce-donation-of-525-new-football-helmets/

It was really good. Good convos with some interesting people. Encouraged by the new OCs comments. Listening to Collaros, it's clear that the whole season, something was off. Maybe I'm reading too much between the lines but I'm very curious if something was amiss with Buck last year. After listening to that last night, I'm praying for health and think there's a high ceiling for this team.

Nice that’s awesome. Yeah it’s no joke down there. I’ve seen a bunch of kids teen to 20 ish and the knowledge gap is heart breaking. Even young teens and single digit aged kids knowing and doing some crazy stuff just to live. Up in the middle of the night to walk to soup kitchen the safe way to be in line for when it opens then walk back to bring food home for family. But then don’t have basic understandings of soo many things even up out of the teens. Reading, normal life and family relation stuff. Just gutting. Malcolm gladwell has a couple books that goes into various factors in poor areas. ( tipping point/outliers/ why I hate the Ivy League) Even for the athletic stars and brilliant minds it’s soo hard for those kids to break free. Juco, the fledgling leagues down south and the cfl have done soo much to change soo many guys lives. If any thing we need a better vacuum to pull those kids up. I appreciate every one who works to lift those kids up get them into juco, college, Europe etc. People like to poop on football programs, and how much money their programs draw. But those programs have all saved countless kids lives and provided them escape from various hellscapes.
