  1. More than a MLB, we need to rebuild our defensive line which would help Jones become a better linebacker.
  2. If someone wants to break the bank on an aging Jefferson have at er....
  3. A legit DT and an actual second pass rusher ala JJ would do wonders for WJ and our D imo.
  4. All things considered...

we could prob field a better import at less than half the price he gonna want...we don't need to use that spot as a canadian...and really if we were smart we wouldnt pidgeon hole certain spots as "canadian"...sign the best guys you can...then sort out the ratio...

O’Shea counts long-time Leafs masseuse Todd Bean as a close friend. Bean has previously worked for the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, both teams O’Shea used to play for. O’Shea also coached in Toronto. https://winnipegsun.com/sports/hall-of-fame-worlds-collide-bombers-oshea-joins-leafs-mentors-trip

I think Walters' biggest failing is that he has allowed O'Shea to keep fading/faded players and let promising newbies go.
  7. I don't see how anyone values WJ more than Winnipeg does anyway.
  8. Willie has taken less to stay here before, but he also had an interesting tweet after the season ended where he said "Last years price ain't the same price!!!!". Obviously, that's open for interpretation but it might mean he's looking for a bigger payday that I'm not sure his play this season has earned (aside from GC where he was great). Last years Willie ain't the same Willie so what do you pay for next year?
  9. Agreed....but WJ has never put a gun to the Bombers head and I think suggesting he would is complete disinformation. He loves it in the Peg, is his own agent, and is highly unlikely to be a guy that bolts to the highest bidder. If he leaves, it would be because we lowballed him.
  10. Thats if...WJ is still here....I believe he may field offers.....or at least let the Bombers know market value...then ball is in their court...expect it from a few others too from what I hear

Honestly given the track record this team has DB is the last place I worry about losing guys. It's been star after star this management group has brought in at that position.
  12. Yeah...if we roll into camp as Jones as the impact guy...or hopes of that...prepare for adequate play but nothing impactful..he'd be the ultimate DA behind our starters tho

Is Allen a pending free agent or some thing? That seems like really low value for Toronto doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Huge get for bc.

I would keep the faith in Kyle Walters. They kept things together longer than I get the sense he would have preferred just because of the easily excused narrow losses in the grey cups and big win totals. They started making some moves last offseason and some came about during the season because of the way things always go. I'd be inclined to think our GM knows what's up and will make some of the hard decisions.

I okay with Neuf....he is one of the voices and leaders on the team....and was banged up last yr....played well again when finally healthy....Not to beat a dead horse to death but a change at center would bring the play up on the interior....Kolo is a very limited center....but we know limited talent here if an Osh fav gets the play time The silence with other signings, and solidifying coaching is a little concerning tho....there some reason's I can see but prob wont mention here as dont wanna upset the fanboi's with nobody can do no wrong on our current staff I think you will be surprised at a few players who are gonna look around and see what's available....tho not necessarily gonna leave...but may...many here wanna deny it but there is a fair sized group of players..some tenured vets who were not happy how things were managed 2 yrs running now....I also think that the non confirmation on an OC...and the defection of other coaches says a lot....of how some things are ran here...the my way or the suck it up style.....interesting 3 weeks coming up
  16. Bombers sign Jake Thomas. Allow Jefferson to leave in free agency. That would be so this regime.

Don’t take it to heart. Every Canadian is a starter.
  21. Lol this is so stupid you don’t think players talk at the gym? when they go to physio? These guys are human beings, just like you and I. They talk. They talk for impact, they talk to vent, they talk to hear perspective. The only reason you’re discounting it is because you don’t like what he’s saying.
  22. Betts salary of $260k may have set him off, as last season he was paid $200k according to 3DN. He deserves a swack of promo money even if his play no longer justifies a raise, Willie, Brady and Zach are the 3 most recognizable faces on the team with Willie being the most vocal cheerleader for the franchise.
  23. I am not opposed for us paying Willie what he deserves for one or two more seasons. He was the only one generating any sort of pressure up front last season... had he any sort of help on the line then I think his numbers would of been much better.
  24. Yikes. That sucks. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
  25. Nobody said anything about breaking bank...but market value...which he has played under is also in play who said put a gun to anyone's head?...and also disinformation because....you aren't in the know....or have anti-bias from who posts something?...Interesting enough....if you look back I mentioned his original deal hear....salary and yrs before it was publicized, so contrary to what you...and a few others like to believe and pump...some people kicking around here do have a lil more knowledge and access to info that the common fan and yea he loves it here but also is in golden yrs of his career now and this likely to be his last bigger cheque, unless he has a huge yr in 2025...then he is getting his bucks up for 2026......he may also see/feel the vibe that he is gonna be saddled with lack luster talent around him (again) and that will get his bucks down.....hmmmm.....he also can still have Winnipeg as his home base and yet not play here.... if he was on some other teams who actually value and prioritize dline talent and roster it as such...they would certainly value him as much...if not more
  26. Pete Robertson is now available. https://3downnation.com/2025/01/06/b-c-lions-release-dl-pete-robertson/ AC Leonard is also a free agent. If they can't find or develop their own effective pass rushers they may have to consider scrap heaping disreputable discards to find a bookend for Willie.

If I'm being honest...I don't think they do. And I'm ok with it. That position is easily replaced with a cheaper american. It would be nice to have him, but I don't think he's a guy who can make or break your defense.

  30. Tony Jones isn’t an impact player. He’s an average MLB, above average rotational piece.

Well my first and most obvious question would be to ask who it is in Toronto who is calling the shots right now? Word on the street is that Murphy was on the outs, so I actually don't know who is steering the Good Ship Argonaut right now. Allen was effective but expensive. We have lots of good O-Line guys including a few who just got here and can do a job (Doxtater, Moore) so with the number of guys who are top FAs, the deck was always going to get shuffled. Dejon is about 30 so he'll have a few nice productive years, he's a west coast guy and BC can tell their star at QB that they're doing what they can to get him an O-line. Likely has nothing to do with anything, but Allen did almost get Kelly killed in the playoffs against Ottawa. And, Isaiah Cage is a free agent too... Not sure if Varga is a starter or not, but most of our National linebackers got played as a starter at some point last season. As it stands we have Cassar, Sopik(FA), Adeleke (FA), & Varga. So maybe Varga is a hedge against possibly losing Sopik if someone pulls out their chequebook? Ceresna, Brinkman, Smith, McManis, Amos, Metchie, McFadden, Priester... some our FAs on D Grant, Haggerty... on Teams Arbuckle, Cage, Rice, Mackellar, Carey, Coxie... on O Freeing up salary and churning the roster happens. And the last few years we haven't done a lot of our signings until later on, so I'll try not to let it bug me as I watch good players get poached one by one.

Some interesting comments from Neuf on his media availability. Must watch especially for the off season. lots of interesting questions and responses. Not nearly the usual tight lipped stuff we see. cited the injuries combined with the amount of turn over on the ol leading to the struggles they saw early. Not getting to practice and have a camp beside Lofton, Liam’s adjustment to starting, and the injuries that put him back out and Bryant’s scare. Definitely sounds like he forced it back early and wasn’t ready and probably should’ve been shut down much sooner. Also mentions that guys need to get that continuity going early in camp shaking the rust off and not the season. In response to opportunity to improve with change he seems excited and positive about having some change though missing buck and Bourgoin.

Why wouldn't we just presume that with O'Shea being in Toronto's sports scene from 96-13, he'd have had many opportunities to mingle with the likes of Wendel and Dougie?

Reality says it. Being half staffed says it. Mos and Walters even talked about how it was just the two of them doing the end season surf because of un certainty up front. You know the role assistant gms and COs play in free agency right? Or franchise stability with established vets. It’s been discussed previously in years where teams have failed to lock in their front office and staff and those off seasons for other teams have been catastrophic. From here, to local and national media.

shouldnt all the players u roster have never say quit in them..and be tough...athletic...versatile....and if not...why they on roster?...call me crazy but in my coaching tenure/experience, thts how we rolled....yhou eraned a spot in camp....and then had to maintain/keep it in season...be it if you were a rookie...2 yr guy..10 yr guy....nothing was handed to you with zero competition, and if you were not performing at the best compete level....u saw the bench or inactive roster.....or bought a bus ticket... that staff does not inspire me....Good luck Buck I think Jackson is the guy...and best option...he's been around a bit but worked with a lot of people....and like Younger has some innovative ideas He has the knowhow and actual sense to use skill sets to get the best out of players...if he was here last yr he would have utilized Whitehead...Demski and likely MCI to an extent to help open things up elsewhere...I could also have seen Brown stick on roster and become a nice piece.... Musta got it in Dubai
