Nothing wrong with moving the ball and securing first downs, controlling the clock and grinding down their D on a hot summer day. Throwing bombs all day is a low percentage strategy that may lead to a plethora of turnovers, turn the ball over enough to the Rider D is precisely how they could lose this game.

Keys to the game turn over battle. Riders record has heavily relied upon an extreme turn over disparity. Zach has struggled and we’ve given up some key fumbled. Gotta win the t/o battle. throw to win, the riders give up the most pass yards. We have to be ready to take advantage of the riders secondary. sack time, riders have given up among the most sacks in the league and have hardrick out. We’ve got to get home and create presssures/sacks rather than blitz pointlessly.

A couple of thoughts heading into the game tonight: People may want to say "Saskatchewan isn't as good as their record .. " That's bullshit in my mind. You are what your record says you are. Good teams go out and perform regardless of circumstance, don't play down to opponents and win the games they should win. This will not be an easy contest by any stretch of the imagination. This will be the strongest defensive line we've put out all season. That, coupled with the injuries Saskatchewan is facing, should hopefully mean we are making Patterson very uncomfortable and forcing him into bad decisions. Capitalizing on those bad decisions will be key. When we have an opponent on the mat, we need to keep them there. Can our offensive line give Zach a chance in back to back weeks? It's no coincidence that Collaros had his best game of the season last week as he enjoyed a pretty clean pocket (for the most part). That said, I don't have a lot of faith that that group, as a whole, that it's turned the corner. Am I the only one who hates seeing Zach lock onto one receiver for the course of a game? I know that his reads make this a bit of a moot point but last week felt pretty emblematic of Collaros's play over the last year and a bit - locking on to a single receiver and forcing it. Kind of an opposing thought to the one above. I don't expect a monster game from Brady tonight so Zach has to be efficient with the ball in his hands. Make your read, get the ball out quickly and take what's there. I said a couple weeks ago our offense looks so much better when we go tempo - I want to see more of it. Smith has been steady but unspectacular since coming onto the roster (was a tremendous upgrade over Mitchell though). Will see if Case has that little something "extra" the return team needs. Sheahan ..... why? Week after week after week I continue to ask myself "Why is he here?" I just don't get it.

That's exactly what has been getting him in trouble since last year. He needs to read the defense properly and put the ball where the read takes him, not where he wants it to take him.

Despite our obvious deficiencies up the middle of our defense, we need to stop the run and force them to throw. We can win a game in the air against the Riders. Then, let BO pound it. It would be nice to win this one for the tie-breaker. Although, I'm not sure it will matter at the end of the year.

Yeah last game was really the first one collaros was making a concerted effort to get the ball out quickly. That's what they gotta do until the OL settles down.

What bothers me the most is o'shea's hesitation to pull the trigger. Boudreau's scheme was terrible last season but he was given the entire season and playoffs to continually fail. Boudreau got axed in Hamilton after 5 games of last in the league cover teams. Too much loyalty. Not enough accountability.

and of the 8 LB's...2 are actually legit (Wilson and Cole) Ayers is a potential guy but never gets a rep in lieu of one who is toast as an every down guy (biggie) and one who has no business as the every down guy (Kramdi).....Gauthier and Cadwallader are basically just teamers at this point and if they have to take heavy reps we are likely hemorrhaging....But finally we have some new blood in Jones.....but does he just get the shaft like Ayers/Cole as we play oodles and oodles of Biggie/kramdi??

I Find it interesting that they have a home game on this weekend. Biggest farm show in western Canada (Ag in Motion) is happening in Saskatoon.

If I'm Sask I'm torturing Jefferson with RPO stuff with strong focus on the R and the O. He doesn't have the patience or the energy to play that game. The Bombers need to mitigate this with LB spying. LB's need to make big plays in this game.

Unfortunately the CFL does a very poor job of providing advanced stats to the fans. Even PFF is being held back by the league from offering a breakdown of each player in the league like they do for every other football league. I do my own stats database for draft kings and its very annoying that only some teams release those gamestats pdf's on their website like the bombers do. I can't even find a complete scoring summary including 2pt converts and single points anywhere on the internet. I can't find information on fumbles by each player in each game. Only fumbles lost from TSN.ca. The cfl probably has internal stats like the ones you want but i don't it's publicly available.

He looked really good in preseason and I'm optimistic that some of that carries over to tonight .. at a minimum, he'll be no worse than Hubert.

Lapo looks at Pokey's big game First, is it Pookey like Mookie Wilson? Or is it Pokey like Pokey Reddick? First play, the run blitz kill. I was curious about this play because it looks like a bad play -- throwing a hitch screen without enough lead blocking. but now I understand why it happened. It's interesting when Lapo breaks down Zach's reads on any play because it seems like the play design and stampeder coverage resulted in Pokey being the best option on most of these plays, it wasn't that Zach set out to feed Wilson, it was just the way things developed. Love seeing Lucky Whitehead and the rest of the bench calling for tempo on the final catch.

Bottom line for the Rough Rider's game: Regina is not as good as its record the bombers are not as bad as our record the blue will have a trick or two up our sleeve the riders will not be able to keep playing above their skill level I think it's called reversion to the mean somebody's going to be letting some air out of the tires A few of the frustrated are going to finally get it together at least for a little while

I wonder if the opponent has anything to do with Tony Jones coming onto the roster. We'll have to wait and see if he gets any reps on D.

To overlook the advantage the Blue has would be a mistake. Intangibles matter. This time of year, the SK province still uses standard time, because the cows prefer it for milking. The rider players will have had a full day of milking prior to the game, which is tiring. I’ve seen a prediction of the bombers winning by scoring more than 40, but playing in standard time, we score over 50.
