Different topic, anyone else think the Stamps organization is in serious trouble? Dilapidated stadium and facility, super low and consistently dropping attendance. Lousy QB with a big contract, no marketable star players. Ownership doesn’t seem to care in the slightest. Huff getting older. Dickinson getting dumber by the year it seems. I actually think they’re on the thinnest ice of any team right now. Frankly, that stadium is pathetic.
  2. Bailey should be eminently replaceable. It kind of worked out good for him with Lawler missing almost half a season. But for the most part he didn't have a great role, and didn't often take advantage of opportunities to take a step over the years to be more than the 4th option. Kind of exciting to see some new playmakers. Notice some teams going more in that direction of guys who are kind of like Demski, even bigger and more of a tight end/H back type blocker too who can carry and catch too. Wouldn't mind a guy or two in camp like that. Like the Rutgers guy who did a lot of work as a receiver, back and returner in college.
  3. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jeremiah-gemmel/32004745-4d44-4955-ac81-ab519eb69d75 https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Jeremiah-Gemmel-LB-NorthCarolina love that he’s a 3 year very productive starter at a high level. Looks like a guy who plays with speed not a track guy. Good size for a wil/s/sam in the cfl. His pff grades in pass cover were really good. Like the look of him for a prospect.
  4. Heard part of Loftons interview on the radio... sounds excited to be here, said Strevler was the first of many to text him and welcome him. Losing Bailey stinks, dude lives and breaths blue and gold. I actually think he has more to offer than he's shown here in WPG. I remember in TC last year he looked like the most polished guy on the field... That being said. It is one of those spots where we can find someone else to fill the role. Best of luck to you Rasheed, you'll be missed

No but I feel like doing it with a few vets like Hardrick and Sceviour who are winners … could be worse decisions to make. I still don’t see it though, they’re missing that A+ part to pull it all together. Lots of B and B- but who’s the franchise player?
  8. 4 points
Riders have nice depth. And still have picks. Fry is kind of a Gray type, less raw talent, came through better system in U Sports for developing zone blockers. Hardrick is kind of an odd fit there honestly. If I'm them I'd spend that money on a receiver. Think they are looking at Hardrick as kind of a culture builder...but they are basically forced to use him even if he keeps trending toward bad.

Are we really pretending Emilus isn’t a great receiver? Better season numbers wise than Demski, catching passes from Rainbow Jake. If we had a 2nd year Canadian breaking 1000 yards with a backup QB throwing the majority of the passes, we’d be going nuts over him. I know a lot of the Riders numbers were garbage time numbers, but Emilus had a lot of early game impact. Real big fan of his.
  10. Jj is a great pass rusher who makes our defence and every one in the front better when he’s on the field. I love that guy, it sucks soo bad that it’s ending and he was never able to stay healthy and put up the monster stats to match his calibre of play. His impact doesn’t need to be conflated. Wj is a great pass rusher and has been even when jj isn’t dressed. Wj isn’t nearly as consistent pass rushing as jj, and most guys aren’t consistent in getting sacks. Some times you flush the qb some times you get the easy sack. Habba was very productive in place of jj, and has some great moves/first step. May or may not be legit, two of his sacks were easy finishes. 2 he ducked tackles and took advantage of his short height and leverage. But I’m excited to see where he goes. wj started the year very well last year. And jj missed a big portion of the first half year.

Emilus, Lenius, KSB, Bane doesn’t really seem like that bad of a set of receivers. Three guys with 1000 yard potential for sure, I mean it’s obvious they don’t have a Schoen or Lawler but they’re not trotting trash out there.
  13. Translation? “Whew, so glad I’m out of Regina!” 😉
  14. Bailey 'could' return BUT I think we'll only re-sign him at a bargain basement price....He deserves to be paid .....Could we squeeze him in ???would be tough...Now if Zack would shave a bit of his contract like Kelly in T.O. did, we might get it done......should/could we expect it.....probably not....Kind of leaves Bailey hanging in the breeze..I feel for the guy especially knowing how much he loves his team mates and the City.....tough call...very tough
  15. I think that signing Schoen, and BO are two pretty big fish. Yes, they played here last year but both had hit the open market at the time we re-signed them. I mean it's not too hard to figure out why we didn't go on any kind of a spending spree, look at our roster. Compare it to other teams and you will see a great deal of the high end talent was already here. The top 2-3 teams in the league rarely get better in FA, they are fending off the jackals and hyenas from picking their roster apart. Take a look at TO, and BC who have hemmoraged top end talent in comparison, and only started adding back because they were picked over. We retained the majority of our talent and thus had little need to go splashing around in the overpriced market of FA. That being said Streveler, and Ford are two very big additions as well.

  17. Jeremiah Gemmel is a nice add at linebacker. Instinctual, fast, high motor guy who was a team captain for a high-level NCAA team. Also, would stay away from the NFL draft buzz articles. They have no idea what they are talking about on there
  18. As many are here, I am a huge fan of Sheed but you are correct. He's our 4th receiver and that's a spot that can be filled with a younger, cheaper player with more potential upside.
  19. Sheed is great and loves Winnipeg but this is a harsh industry and he’s 30 and not getting any younger. He can still perform at a high level but he’s really our number 4 receiver and can be replaced (at least talent wise) with a 20 something guy. This isn’t 2019 or even 2021 anymore. The Bombers realize they have to get younger and sign the important younger players to remain competitive. Why do you think the three big signings this offseason where guys in their 20’s? The great teams retool, the Buffalo Sabres of the sports world tear everything down and start from scratch.
  20. The guy was the best ranked OL on the Riders by PFF last year playing LT. Playing beside an actually physically capable OG he might get the job done. He's no Yoshi, but then again Yoshi is unlikely to be Yoshi again.

As somebody who has followed the CFL for over 30 years, it always seems there is at least one club on thin ice. Calgary does seem to be a huge trouble spot right now as others have stated.
  22. If Lofton comes out of camp at RT with all our incumbents I can think of way worse scenarios...A guy with experience...knows our guys and the league at tackle isn't disaster by any means...and maybe this motivation and the legit chance to be the guy is what sends him over the top

Who are their receivers...Bane...Emilus...and?? And throwing money at random positions when your core and structure sucks isn't a winning formula They will be definitely better but in a battle for 3rd at best Of the guys they signed the only one I would have been excited for was Carney Edwards cooper...not any better than what they had...prob worse ...Thurman...Dean would have gave them the same for prob 30k less... Getting rid of Dickie tho and his band of putz:s will help but they still have Oday..who prob just ruined their SMS to save his bacon
  24. If the Bombers had an offseason like the Riders after the season they had, we would all be so pumped.
  25. Speaking of linebackers, we signed Jeremiah Gemmel today. Fun fact: the move Denver made to fit him on their training camp roster? The release of Barrington Wade.
  26. 2 points
Not too sure about O either. Harris has to make it back. Don't see a #1 receiver there.

Rookie imp can play in the league and not miss a beat. It’s just hit or miss as to if guys can adjust to the Canadian game. Imo the yard off the ball makes it easier to adjust to pass pro as a tackle in the cfl.
  28. We haven't won the last two Grey Cups. It's time to trim a bit of the fat and see what we have in the young uns and see if this can to get us over the hump to that final step. That's exactly what our GM is doing IMO. Not panicking ...

man oh man are we ******* bored around here...
  30. When the really big fish are your own guys it tends to make FA a little dull. I mean we could have been like Toronto and let all our young great players sign elsewhere then be super active in FA trying to fill the crater they leave and declare ourselves FA winners despite getting inferior talent back. I prefer the way Walters did it.

Great like I’d probably put him top 12 in the league. Schoen, Lawler, Begelton, White, Hatcher, Hollins, Lewis, Demski, Bane, Rhymes … Then you get into the next tier of guys like Hardy, Emilus, Acklin, Snead, Coxie, Gittens, Julien-Grant, Godwin … probably forgetting a few but I’d say Emilus/Coxie/Godwin/Snead at the top of that list. Easy for us to not notice, but the league is pretty receiver poor right now.
  33. 1 point
There's nobody anyone is worried about 1 on 1 in there. Maybe Bane. KSB has some YAC ability but is pretty limited in terms of creating space for himself. Him and Lenius are also constantly banged up. No one in there that's much of a vertical threat.
  34. 1 point
The Riders had a terrible defense and were continously playing from behind so that is a slight modifier on why they were pass heavy. Once again... they had Harris healthy for only a bit and were playing Dolegala and Fine who were not good at all. Bane made some outstanding catches and Emilius was really solid and consistent. I'd imagine people on here wouldn't be so ignorant to say that just because they hate the Riders that they default into saying every player on that team sucks and that they were over rated and stats are misleading etc... It is perfectly fine to admit that they had talent at certain positions , we don't have to pretend that they sucked everywhere.

Yea but there was an interesting stat about Bane, that probably applies to the other receivers as well, that almost 70% of his yardage came in what is generally regarded as garbage time in a losing effort. Sometimes stats can be misleading. I'd like to see the overall passing yardage by Q for the Riders last year. Bad teams tend to have a higher than normal passing yardage in 4Q as teams go prevent to seal off wins. Any time you see 3 receivers near 1000 on a 6 win team a deeper dive into that stat is required imo.
  36. 1 point
Bane/Emilus/KSB/Stearns is a solid group but its is no Lawler/Schoen/Demski/Woli. BC with Hatcher/Hollins/Cottoy/McInnes is also better.
  37. That’s wrong. Jj did not play weeks 1-3 or 5. In week 1 wj had 2 sacks. In week 5 wj had 2 more. All 4 of habbas sacks came in games jj did not play.
  38. Who did Bailey sign with? If nobody offers him a deal the club could offer him a lowball deal to come back could they not?
  39. I’m very happy the Bombers have acted this quickly to shore up a loss on the line (how much remains to be seen). If he doesn’t work out, our talented Canadian starters will allow our GM to find a talented import tackle somewhere. This is why signing Brady was so important. 👍🏻
  40. 1 point
That game should have been over on the strip sack earlier in the drive. The ball came out when Fajardo’s hand was next to his hip and the command centre called it an incomplete pass.
  41. He's one guy we'll miss. I always said he was the heart & soul of our receiving corps. I hoe that when Bailey retires, it's as a Bomber & not as a member of another team.

It’s very common … Jovan Olafioye, SirVincent Rogers, Dejon Allen, Derek Dennis … that’s off the top of my head thinking of the major huge impact guys Jonathan Broxton (who we signed originally) was another one for BC. Kent Perkins was also BC’s MOOL nominee in his rookie year as a tackle.
  43. In 2023 Willie had 0 sacks in the games Jeffcoat was out that he played. Willie missed a game too. June 16, June 22, Sept 16 were the 3 games he played without Jeffcoat. 0 sacks. 11 sacks in his 14 games played with Jeffcoat. Haba had 3 of his 4 sacks in those 3 games.

Thanks, you were right, found the game. Dobson often looks lost in space and rarely gets up field to help with the run blocking like Gray does consistently. Ceresna plants him in Zach's lap twice and blows by him cleanly one other time, being nervous starting his first game is a valid excuse, but I think from a physical standpoint he will remain the 6th man unless Eli is worse. He may be cheaper than Gray, but can't say I see him being a better O-lineman.
