Schoen all the way...RB like BO are not rare....as a Canadian perhaps...but I always saw it as a poor ratio decision as the drop off is dramatic to keep that ratio with injury...and generally if u want a "decent" back up that's Canadian u paying more too

Think about it this way. We won Grey Cups with Lawler as our #1, Demski, Adams, Wolitarsky, Bailey. We haven't won anything without Harris. Since Oliviera and Schoen came in, we've faltered both times in November. They can get it done without either. I'd say looking at the landscape, it will be a lot harder to replace the overall game of Oliviera, especially what he brings to the pass game. Think about 2022, brought in a guy like Ellingson who was always dinged but produced at like a 1400 yard pace when he did play. There's more guys like that around than complete every down backs. You get into a bit of a ratio mess if you need to start dressing 2-3 backs to cover off what you need. Augustine could maybe be one of those guys.

We really going to put ANY blame on Brady for the current playoff run? Since he became starter there has been 3 instances of RBs running for more than 100 yards in the playoffs... Brady, Brady and Brady. In those 4 games Collaros threw for more than 200 yards once and has a TD/INT ratio of 1/3. Running Backs are interchangeable for the most part, but for Brady at least you are buying his prime instead of the decline. It's likely this contract is his one pay day and then as all RBs do he hits the cliff at 29 and will likely be cast aside. The drop off from an MOP Running Back to whatever you can find will likely be reasonably steep, and if you can't trust the passing offense in the playoffs where will that get you? The team is built so the window probably runs out after 2025. I think short term Brady probably is going to be more meaningful than Schoen, especially with Demski and Lawler on the roster. Of course I would like to have them both back.

There's something like 9 starters unsigned. I know some of them include people that a lot of you want to see replaced, but having that many new players come in at ones is goin to have some detrimental effects on this team. TC is going to be crazy.

I tend to agree with this. It will just shift the market IE you'll have more $200,000 receivers and a few more elite defenders making in that range. Sort of like the reality that adding more lanes to a road doesn't alleviate congestion. The CFL did have this rule with the enforced cap in the 90s and into 2000s. The BOG moved away from it in 2006. It is a soft cap. A team like the Bombers can probably budget an extra 10% for 6 game time. The whole market shifts though. Agents aren't ignorant. Say someone like Jefferson. Instead of $165,000 he's setting his market at $190,000. Times that 15-20% by every spot but rookies on the roster and there goes the extra cap space from your exempt player.

What makes our team better, schoen or pickett/hendrix for less money? and Brady/schoen vs both Argos and easily another base deal player? I love roadhouse but I think we would be better with more spent on defense. If we retain lawler, demski, woli, and Bailey we don’t need an ace wr we can bring in low risk high reward cheaper vet type to compete with rookies for a spot.

Oliveira and Ouelette are interesting studies. The NFL had a RB committee form this offseason where they griped with how much they’re paid. RBs tend to become very beat up by age 30, sometimes younger. I personally wouldn’t pay a RB top dollar unless it was a Christian McCaffrey type where they can be just as valuable as a receiver.

I wonder if we’d consider bede actually. Great year last year as a kicker, can do all 3 jobs, biggest leg and best kick off guy in the league. Sergio is a better kicker, but bede might be cheaper. I’d really love to see a consolidation of the 3 jobs, even if it’s a di for all 3. But we really need to improve punting and kick offs. Be hilarious if we re signed legs. The head explosions around here would be epic.
