Trust me, even just doing wellsite stuff in Alberta with the ability to go home every few weeks is soul crushing. I wasn't even on the rig floor, I did the white collar stuff. Yeah the money is good (or at least was) but it's a pretty awful existence. I am much happier earning less doing what I do now knowing I get to go home every night.

If we sign a promising rookie this year, they'll be under contract until Zach leaves. Brown is just unfortunate timing.
  3. I’ve stayed away from everywhere but here. Misery loves company.

I really wish he would have posted that without the money bag emoji. Would have been much less cringe AF.

eh the point streak and the winning streak had to end eventually but at least Helle's less than 3 streak is still ongoing

I have family in that line of work. Many try it due to the $$, and many can't hack it.

I work out pretty much every single day...plus train others...and have a full time job...same as when I played...it's a lifestyle...and if u make it yours then yes u are getting paid X amount of $'s for 6 months

Harris is the starter in Riderville and they have invested several years in Dolegala/Fine... I can't see them making the change.
  9. 2 points
What's the incentive for Brown to go to Saskatchewan as Harris's backup? In Ottawa, it sounds like he would have more of a shot. Hamilton as well.
  10. 2 points
just saying...if its part of your lifestyle...and what you do day in and day out, then it's irrelevant...If a person holds a fulltime job, and has that training lifestyle, then continuing it in the off-season is just status quo and no extra burden on said person...If anything it's easier as you dont have to contend with weekly practices, meetings, and the weekly game and grind and the recovery post game

You're comparing Collaros to Maier and Harris? That's this kind of insight I expect from you.
  12. 2 points
Not sustainable if the QB is garbage yes. And you can’t draft and develop linemen. And you overpay a bunch of free agents without being able to backfill your roster. Yes. Collaros deal is fine. The SMS limit is higher and he’s making over 100k less than those guys were. The only way you do anything with his deal is if you’re willing to trade or release him.

Any day the Browns lose, is a good day. Ef that organization. Mahones breaks his helmet. It took me a minute to figure out why they would have a backup ready so quickly, but it's because of the comms. If that goes down, you want a backup ready to go.

It's not 6 months work when you factor in that they have to work out every single day, 12 months of the year to be in football shape. Hasn't been a part time job in many many years. Factor in that your career can be over in a heartbeat in this rough sport, and they should be getting every penny they can.

I’d take a running game of American RB’s and designed Strev plays over Brady if it came down to affording one or the other.

For sure.....Even with all of the near-do-wells hanging around Ottawa, Dru would be better off taking a shot at their pivot position.....Sask.=Deadend

Dru Brown to Sask? That will make it near if not impossible to hope for his success.

You could stop working out and retain your job. The players can't.

Anybody else watching the games today? Midnight for the Cinderella Flacco Browns. The night game in KC is like -25c. 5 minutes into the 1st Q and Miami looks like they just want to go home.

Same, the mental aspect of that kind of isolated, dangerous work can be just as taxing as the physicality. Back to topic, yeah the amount of time spent working out, dealing with nutrition, training, film study. Todays players probably get as much or less legit time off as any of us who have been at our jobs most of our adult lives.

If I was in my 20's, I'd go. Other qbs have done it. Jake Maier & Trevor Harris. Maier especially is tenuos. If Calgary can find someone better then he'll be gone. Maier is 6 feet & 227 lbs. He can't even bother to play in shape which is half his problem. The guy is a pylon in the pocket. Maier should be 20 lbs lighter.

Yeah don’t think they going all out against each other but in the past there have been fights amongst team mates at practice. Chiarot vs Wheeler was a thing.

In the CFL? Most guys make no real money playing in the CFL. General Managers dupe their players by deferring payments into bonuses at the middle or end of January & then cut them so they don't have to pay. So many players are on one year deals it doesn't matter if players are appreciating or depreciating as they only last a year with a team & move on. Most players have to find off season jobs. There's a handful of guys making 90% of the money at 3 or 4 positions like QB, DE or WR. Unless you're an overpaid & overrated Canadian OL that teams open up the banks for as most of them truly are. There really aren't a lot of truly great Canadian OL playing on any team. The remainder of a typical roster don't make what they should be making. To me, appreciating or depreciating means nothing. Prime example Sean Lemon. In his mid 30's & not mid 20's. Signs one year deals only & cashes in every time.
  30. Now I'm ******* angry all over again. Thanks jerks.

Ok, now I think people are going too hard in the other direction here. Last year Brady was absolute crap for the first half of the season and clearly made changes to be the incredible back he was for the last half of 2022 and all of 2023. It is not all the OL and not every back will have close to his success. Augustine had a high average at the end of blow out games. It's not an equal comparison.
