Considering he called the cfl an unfortunate detour he will exhaust every NFL avenue before slinking back to the CFL.

Yup...never liked the Rourke hype train from day one..also he has a pretty high opinion of himself which isnt translating down south And our Ford...he either got real poor career advice...or he truly thinks his turds don't stink...there are thousands of guys just like him...and better...waiting for a workout ...born..bred...trained in the U.S who's phone will ring long before his...nothing about his measurables and minimal game film from college and 1 yr up here screams gotta sign this gem...total waste of a yr...he was never getting a PR spot I hope he does as don't need the boot licking incessantly up here Strev yup...he will be up here next yr...he's done down there

Rourke has already made over $300,000 USD even being mostly on practice roster.

Could have easily been 8-2. Especially that laser from Ehlers that hit the post. He has one of the best shots in the game, IMO.
  6. 3 points
Exactly...if not for his unfortunate cfl gig...he'd be not playing anywhere...screw him...he showed nothing anyway when he faced real defences in Canada anyway...

hoooo boy this was a good win
  8. I'm ready when you guys are. What day are we storming IG Field?

Unforeseen detour. Still goes to show, NFL has always been his goal and will keep trying until there are no more opportunities.
  10. I look at the bums that Minnesota has been playing since Cousins got injured and I just can't figure out why they wouldn't give Rourke a try. It's just maddening.
  11. I'm not cheerleading him and I'm not dogging him either. Can you say the same? BTW. The NFL trade deadline has already passed.
  12. 2 points
It's his first year. That's not lingering or clinging to a dream. Those things apply to Strev. Rourke is getting the best coaching in the world to improve his skills & he's getting games towards his NFL pension. This is Rourke's one and only chance. I expect he'll keep chasing the NFL dream for a year or two more.

Nothing wrong with a shot chasing a dream...u get one shot...lingering around clinging to.it when it's obvious it not gonna happen...as your career and earning potential erodes away tho is another matter...some guys just can't accept it just ain't gonna happen...is it blind stubborness....poor career advice from agents and those in your orbit...or a combo?

Converted to Canadian $, that's $400 000. Two thirds of Collaros' annual contract.
  15. Personally, I can't stand Rourke & the continued hype over him. He went to the worst team he could have signed with in Jacksonville. Doug Petersen has no intentions of ever playing him unless total disaster strikes. Let him sit on the PR. And if Rourke is that highly thought of in NFL circles then why wasn't he picked up by another team on waivers? This is twice now. Maybe because he isn't as good as people up here think he is. He's been waived twice & hasn't been claimed.

You mean no one wanted to trade for the biggest superstar in waiting? A nation's heart breaks.
  19. I don't get it. Since when did CFL fans become the whiniest & most entitled sports fans in the world? Everything the CFL does when it comes to scheduling is never right. Always wrong. Someone always complains about something. Fans don't like Sunday games. Oh, weekend games means they have to come back from the lake. Thursday night game are stupid. Games start too late. Games start too early. Oh, it's a school night so I can't take my kids. Well, if they have to be in bed before 9 pm then don't take them as they're too young anyway. Go with someone else. The Jets play home games on Mondays & Tuesdays which is a helluva lot worse than Thursdays & no one complains.

And he would have made over $700,000 in BC. They were going to open the vault for the guy but he couldn't wait to find his way out of his unforeseen detour.

I don't begrudge people chasing the dream, but Rourke has taken a dim view f the cfl and I am tired of everyone hanging off his nuts.

Rourke left close to a million on the table (reportedly from Doman) in B.C. and a starting qb. position....I doubt he ever sees a starting qb. job in the excited states...His decsion.... The panacea world of success he's dreaming in is great, if there's a successful end game.... que...sera sera

I'm pretty sure you can claim a Canadian tax credit, if you paid foreign income tax. There might be more red tape for larger amounts, but it can be done. Lol, take it easy. I thought maybe I was missing something, so I asked.

How do you arrive at "half'?
  25. This is now 19 straight games the Jets have given up 3 or less goals this season. That is a crazy stat.

Are y'all familiar with Spero's Pizza in Gimli? It's not cheap, but the pizzas are huge, delicious and are very generously topped. You can't eat more than 2 or 3 pieces.

Rourke is continually clearing waivers with little or no interest in the rest of the 'no fun league'....I think they consider him a 'lesser talent' and the politics being what it is down there, will eventually lead to a dead end....He could fill BC place and most likely be paid handsomely for it....His choice but like Ford with regard to us, can't seem to get the bloody stars out of their eyes....It's costing them and when it comes down to adding up potential dollars and career standing, they seem to be a bit dense

It’s got a bit of that old school feel to it, snap shot wrist shot laser. Goalies are a half a second behind in reacting to it.

Nice to witness the game in person. I honestly did not expect this kind of effort. This win gives the Jets the season series against the Avs. Villardi looks to be rounding into form.

Less Rourke talk, more Forde talk..... Tell me about the Canadian born, raised, trained, CIS-graduated QBs that wanna be here...
  32. Sounds like he is doing OK money-wise.

Same goes with the NY Jets when they trotted out Boyle who was terrible in college and terrible in the big leagues yet given a shot over Strev who at least showed something a few during his pre seasons.

  37. Probably trying to fit all the 0s on a contract extension for Damien jackson to match mos’. Could’ve also been biting his finger nails over the rumor that had Harris going to coach RBs in Regina. Or trying to make sure that he had enough cushion in stock so next year hall and the dbs can play a full 100 yards off the other teams WRs. Could be stocking up on guitar strings for wolis one man band. Or getting a million litres of hatorade ready for the cfl media to fuel their tears. Seeing if he can find/buy enough coal for the stockings of guys like ball, farhan, Chris jones, and a bunch of posters on rf.
  38. RedBacks need all the help they can get..
  39. Thursday games before school is out are just about the dumbest scheduling the CFL can do. Thursday games should only be July and August.
  40. call me crazy but I'd keep schoen ahead of lawler. Schoen is just so smooth out there. He gets open for fun. Yes Lawler has more of that big play highlight reel catch ability... but give me the guy like schoen any day (I'd keep both for the record)

Sure, absolutely. Hope we can get there one day. Til then this could help more than half of all Canadian families, those who need it most (those under 90k without private coverage). Putting off dental care leads to much worse issues in a hurry, preventative care being put off by lower income earners is a strain on everyone. This is a very good program. Not sure how any reasonable human can look at this and call it a sham when you consider the good that could come of it for even a second.

I am surprised you are advocating expanding the dental initiative- good on you. I agree- its a start, but we need to further with it. I also agree that we need a national pharmacare policy- the MB one sucks. income of 90k with 3 dependents has a deductible of almost 6k. That is too much. a family income of 60k nets you a deductible of 3k... still too much.
