  1. Which Vets do we cut next season

When healthy we are far and away the better team. Montreal was red hot and extremely healthy. We dressed 3 receivers that couldn't make near the impact they would have if they were healthy. And then on top of that we turned the ball over in key situations and our defensive game plan was bad. It ******* sucks but looking forward to next year.

    Hopefully, $600k. 🤞
  3. I'm counting down FA, then the draft. Those are the two offseason high points for me.
  4. Anyone else counting down to training camp already?

Yup need guys who can once in a while step up and make a big play. Outside of Brady it felt like the team as a whole was just going through the motions. It would be nice if they could recruit some new guys who can challenge vets for spots. We need better depth on this team. Maybe O'Shea can find a Navy Seal / Delta Force / JTF agent who can push Jackson for that desired bench warmer position

I was undercutting his value as a team player. Should be in the $900k range, just to be safe and to value his contribution.

Man you make a lot of excuses for everyone. Bomber have been a good team for a lot of years, but you can't just sit on your ass and expect it to continue. They gambled hard on rolling with an aging roster last season, it almost paid off but in the end did not. They can't do that again. Need a serious infusion of talented impactful youth in a lotnof areas or we will just watch it slip further and further away.

That's the Anti MOS for sure. Contrast that with MOS talking about how he likes CFL unique plays such as Montreal's short punt play.

So, you're not always right. Will wonders never cease? It would be nice if O'Shea answered to someone for his roster goofs & we got a new DC.
  12. If we could land Kongbo and Bennett....we could conceivably use the one DA spot for a monster nose to run with Lawson and hopefully Fox...Unless we land or unearth another dtackle even better

That's right... you secure that albatross around your organization's neck until you realize too late that you've hanged yourselves with a "me first, look at me, look at me" leader. Gooood... gooooood...
  14. If we poach anyone from the Arblows defensive front 4, it better be Dewayne Hendrix - underrated beast. He tears off faces in the shadows.

Dinwiddie: “I’d prefer to be an NFL guy,” Dinwiddie said. “The NCAA, I’m always a West Coast guy as far as recruiting and being able to handle that.” https://3downnation.com/2023/12/04/argos-ryan-dinwiddie-would-consider-any-nfl-opportunity-thats-the-right-fit/ Like, c'mon. Can you imagine MOS saying something like this? I feel bad for TO fans, their HC and starting QB just won't shut up about leaving the first chance they get.
  16. Yeah I'm pretty deep into following the draft stuff and Oakman was falling incredibly well before the set of charges that came down right before the draft. He was one of the guys that was a sure-fire first rounder a year out (like after 2015 season the guys saying here's my 2016 draft board stuff) yeah mostly based on the freak body stuff and a jumbotron shot at the Cotton Bowl. His senior year ON THE FIELD was awful and he was already off a lot of draft boards according to reports. Here's a NFL.com one before the charges which happened the month of his draft in 2016. This basically summarizes his CFL career. Low motor, weak lower body, gets moved around at will. Yeah it's damn sexy when a 6'9 ball of muscle catches a back or QB at full speed. But that's like 3 times a year.

I dunno, having 3 gimped receivers and collaros forcing a throw to the one guy who's healthy and the als can focus on doesn't lead to an interception? Having to move 3 guys around in the secondary to deal with 1 injury doesn't lead to a bust in coverage and a td against?

Coaches were ****, roster management was **** and players made too many mistakes. It's never one thing, but make no mistake the roster mismanagement led to mistakes by players.

I don't understand why Hamilton would pay BLM starter money. I'd offer him a reduced contract with bonus incentives if he reaches certain milestones to be the veteran back up to help out whoever they select as a starter.

Man on man I hope they paid his ass well lol. Realistically I suspect the market for brown as a starter will be Edmonton and Calgary. I think ott, ham, ssk, would be interested as a qb1b to push a guy and maybe take a job. It’ll be interesting to see how qb fa shakes down. I think the chances of a brown return are going up for us.
  23. Score can’t be reflected on one aspect of a team. Reductio ad absurdum. Our defence was terrible at tackling. Our kick cover teams were miserable. By your standard, it was all great. We do not do things on the dl to aid our lbers. We literally do the exact opposite. Our lbers funnel support entirely to dl and dbs. That’s why our tackle and plays made totals are always low at lber. You are completely and hopelessly lost and with out understanding at a basic level of how defence and our defence works, and is graded. Most every one did. The collapse was as complete or more so than our 01 gc collapse. Doesn’t mean guys are undesirable. he’d be a stellar pick up too. The Argos D is jam packed with talent. It’s ridiculous, and I’m sure teams are gonna feast on them in free agency.

Seems low for the reigning Grey Cup MOP. Needs at least $650,000..
  26. 2 points
I had been thinking to myself that a silver lining in all this "we made Faj look like an all star" nonsense was that maybe Montreal would be stupid enough to believe it and $$ treat him like one $$.... this is hilarious and the best thing that could have happened to every other team in the league.
  27. You don't think having the Jeff's bookending him would a good thing?...he would excel here in that situation
  28. 2 points
so Als extended The Faj,,,,with Milanovich in the Hammer now its a certainty that he goes with BLM....The market for Brown really is shrinking to the point that it's Ott...or nowhere...Mace is slobbering all over Harris...welll cause he was forced to, so no money there....Edm has guaranteed money there in Heavy balls, and Ford who they really wanna market to the fans...and to demote him again would be like taking a step forward..then 2 back....BC and T.O aren't gonna go after him and the dark horse is only CGY but not sure Dicky would go that route especially after a sub par yr....so this notion that Brown is a slam dunk being gone isn't really so
  29. How many times did teams score against us comparatively. Teams are going to make plays against you. It is 100% unrealistic to expect otherwise and really is a red herring to point that out. Play calls and game plans are calculated risks that you can make enough plays to keep the opposition from scoring more than your team will score. The Bombers were very, very good at that. That is just straight up fact. It is myopic to look at one aspect of a defence without putting the net result game to game, and over the year, into the equation. Our defence was rock solid all year and was a top 2 defence in this league....and no it does not matter one iota how exactly we got there. The result is irrefutable. We do a lot of things on DL to aid our Lbers, and secondary that takes away from the pass rush. Our main goal with our DL is to disrupt the play, we have heard this ad nauseum over several years. Pass rush is just one way a DL does that.
  30. The fact that you remember this stuff is incredible and mind boggling... always a pleasure to read your Bomber history memories @Taylor Ribbins... unfortunately you father played 10 years before I was born so I'm no use to you... but good luck with your search!
  31. 2 points
Out of context my butt, that was one of many quotes talking about how much he'd love the opportunity. Ask any other coach in the league, they'll respond with how much they love the CFL. You ask Chris Jones, who would absolutely bail at the first opportunity, and he'll respond that he's living the dream and he's not going anywhere.
  32. I went back on there specifically to join that group. It’s excellent.

I can easily see why someone would give it up. There is very little consistency in what they are asked to call. And command centre can be downright inexplicable.
  34. I have a hard time reconciling that with the fact that there’s a list of guys in the NFL with criminal records a mile long. It seems to me that if teams think you can play, they find a way around the off-field stuff.

I think Malveux weasn't as bad as you made him out to be. He ended up in Winnipeg. Anderson was a POS. A real Big Mouth. He incurred the wrath of John Hufnagel in 2011. I went to the first day of Stamps training camp at McMahon Stadium. Anderson was chirping & chirping constantly the whole practice. It was distracting how his voice carried inside the stadium. The Stamps had a shitty practice & Huff was furious at the lack of effort & Anderson mouthing off. With about 45 minutes left in practice, Huff called the team together & told them they were going to run until practice was over. As they were running, Anderson was yelling at Huff, "Hey Coach, I can do this all day. All day. I can do this all day. All day". Finally, Hufnagel cut practice short & sent the team inside. I'm sure he tore a strip off them in the locker room. Shortly thereafter, I remember Huff suspended Anderson & he ended up in Montreal where he played the final 10 games of the season. His days as a Stampeder were over. What an *******. I think everyone was glad to see him go.
  36. He had a big off field incident that he was eventually exonerated from....that was the reason for the NFL blacklisting for most part...he is/was an NFL talent but huge allegations screwed him over

I'm surprised both Sask. and Hamilton are allowing their new HC's to double dip by taking on a coordinator job as well, ties more salary up in one individual while playing one man short on the coaching staff . Mace especially is taking a big leap into the unknown as he's never been a HC before.

I don’t get the love for Milanovich. He won a cup in 2012 with a store bought team. Done zip since then. With Hervey as GM too, I see rough times ahead for them.
  39. 2 points
He didn't win anything because he faced the Bombers. Being second best to the Bombers is nothing to be ashamed of. And, being 9th best is just Riders way of life.

  41. 1 point
apparently BLM said this morning that he and Milanovich didn't get along at first, but started to see eye to eye as they got to know each other better. Says he still wants to be in Hamilton next year......... so we'll see....?
  42. 1 point
I don't know...saying he'd be interested in any NFL opportunity isn't something that should get people's panties in a bunch. I wouldn't mind if MOS said the same thing. It's like getting pissy about a player saying the same thing.
  43. Of course cracks are appearing, no one said otherwise, it's just that our cracks were small enough to not matter as much because we were that far out ahead of everyone. That being said the roster needs to be carefully looked at for diminishing returns this, and every, offseason. Yea...Willie is a top 3 DE in this league and Jeffcoat is in the tub EVERY year but is a force of nature when he's in the lineup. I agree that a decent DE rotational guy would be awesome to have. Love to see Kongbo come home.

I would imagine that would apply to his recruitment going forward. At the moment the Ticats have two starters under 6 feet so they won't be getting a ton bigger in their starters. Might see Hervey going through the backups and teamers to get bigger though. That's great news. Takes a team out of play on the Dru Brown front.
  45. 1 point
Yea, I was hoping Milanovich would stay in the hunt for Riders HC, but it appears he withdrew once the TIcats made him the same offer.

What makes me laugh about this the most is guys like @GCn20 claimed all year that we were the most talented. Now we lost. And the same guys are telling us our coaching staff did nothing wrong. If we were the most talented and no mistakes were made, why did we lose?
  47. It's not ideal developing our first qb in 40 50 years then having to lose him. Even worse when Zach gets hurt. I mean they gotta find a way here or else in 25 it's gonna be a disaster
