I'd be more worried about oulette than Harris at this point. He's a better back.

Can the Red Blacks and Elks pull off the wins that would make Bomber fans happy
  3. 3 points
The whole thing is hilarious to me since Harris is always on about the FIFO stuff... and yet when told to fit in he fucks off.

Did they move the game to IGF?
  5. 3 points
shame that Harris won't play in Winnipeg in what will be his final opportunity....

A & W also says all their chickens are raised on a vegetarian diet. That's probably true, but it's true for vast majority of chickens.

I think the issue is more HOW antibiotics are used. When I raised chickens, the recommended feed contained antibiotics. This was used as a standard course and not in response to the presence of any pathogen. I believe there have also been issues when animals are raised "antibiotic free" and they can often struggle with illnesses that could be treated to remain classified as antibiotic free. Using antibiotics when required on livestock seems like a wise and humane thing to do. Using antibiotics routinely on healthy animals seems likely to lead to long term problems. Often antibiotics are used because of the tight confines livestock face.
  9. OK, I am ready to ban bluto. This understated arrogance vibe he is bringing is starting to get under my skin.

Think that he was legit mad? I read it more as if it was the competitive fire of a star veteran who didn't like being supplanted by the newer model.
  11. 2 points
yup.....slippery slope, and it's also a recipe for a whack of late season injuries....never liked the idea of sitting guys and coasting, even players hate it......hopefully we don't go that route, and ZC dresses and gets reps in every game right thru to play-offs......

Argos taking the foot off in September. Idiots. You can't just turn it on and off again. Fall is when you want to be playing well because summer in the cfl doesn't matter for ****.

  14. I cant recall off the top of my head but I believe up to 100k over is a dollar for dollar penalty, going beyond that amount is when draft picks are also penalized. I can see how contenders see this as a small price to pay when a cup is up for grabs. TOR was over the cap in 2022, but we were even further over the cap... nether if us exceeded the cap so much a pick would be taken away.

totally....there is a huge pool of talent in the south, but it's not hardly even having the surface scratched. I doubt we even send scouts to JUCO schools , and those schools are filled with guys in their 20's looking to try and continue their career...there is no clock or age restriction, so some of those guys would jump at a chance to actually make money playing pro ball....and many could if they were giving the opportunity, or just a chance to get seen....I'd be sending a scout to all the JUCO schools out west, above and beyond holding free agent camps

I bit of mixing going on in this thread as mentioned. Antibiotics fight bacteria, not viruses. As for antibiotics in cows, from my understanding (and I'm not an expert here, so feel free to correct me here) they are used in cases when animals are in close quarters to prevent spread of disease, and there is some evidence that they also help cattle grow faster / bigger. Some of the issues with this, as Tracker mentioned, this is giving antibiotics as a prophylactic, meaning before an infection. When done like this, bacteria will mutate faster and gain immunity over the antibiotic which can also affect how resistant the antibiotics are for humans.

Bombers-Argos game is another sell out. Three sell outs in a row. The Flagship Franchise does it again.
  20. And miss the next one at home and the other 3 in-between GCs? Stay around longer man.
  21. 1 point
he was engaged (not sure if they ever got married...??) to a girl while he was playing with the Bombers... then sometime, post-pandemic, he was having a kid with another girl. Not saying he absolutely bolted town to avoid any drama there, just suggesting that MAYBE that was a part of it....

awesome - we need more kids signing up. I'm looking forward to getting back on the ice this year. Been reading an excellent book written by curler Sean Grassie about the history of the world famous MCA Bonspiel, that's been giving me the itch...

Signed my oldest up to curl this year. It will be his first year. He really enjoys watching it, but it's never worked out timing-wise. What a cheap activity! $135 for an entire season. Obviously, I have some upfront costs like shoes and a broom but the broom can be used in the future. Definitely cheaper than flag football, which is twice as much for half the time. Ah, well, I'll just take it out of the university fund.

and yeah part of the whole ball of wax was that a large group his teammates had soured on him a bit as well...and it kinda festered all yr long, and the hissy fit to prove he was not damaged goods, and could pass some physical testing as a pro athlete should...sealed his fate
  27. 1 point
he was 100 percent ticked...offended...figured he didn't have to prove he was healthy and in shape, but could still ask for a high salary and to not be a back-up.....ironically....he took a back up role in T.O so the ego still was hit, but T.O paid him starter money for what he was doing there....and based on his play this yr....he should have really hung em up after 2022....Selfish taking reps from some young guys on roster
  28. 1 point
Andrew Harris has always had a chip on his shoulder. He was legit mad the Bombers wanted him to take the role he has now in Toronto. If he wasn't made why leave for the same role somewhere else?

The early season was definitely soft with our 3 Bye weeks completed by Week 11 (of 21). We always knew that there was a 10 week run with no Bye week to finish the season. So for a change, we got out in front and stayed there. I'm so accustomed to a last month scramble that having 6 weeks to chill is completely alien.

They've had a soft schedule so far and are already on cruise control. It's not even cold yet.

I'll be greedy and ask for more. I'm asking for a Grey Cup and Stanley Cup win. Okay okay I know. I need to adjust my expectations. I'll take a Grey Cup win this year with a full GM review when/if we (the Jets) don't make the playoffs.

The penalty is match what you spend until 100k, then you start losing draft picks. And sorry...what does attendance have to do with signing players/Coaches? If you're asking where does the money come from, it comes from the owners...
  35. 1 point
I wonder if that's as much about letting Harris get all the snaps to try and shove it up our ass. We know how he likes to play angry and bitter...

Well we are just 3 days away from the first preseason game.
  38. 1 point
well...Demski is signed thru next yr, so that helps, but we may have to move on from a vet to extend Schoen....tho there are some vet salaries that really we should be free of, a couple we should have already moved from this yr in my opinion
  39. 1 point
Great point. Soo true. And yeah lots of kids that need a chance. Man it’d be great if we took a page out of the xfl book and signed a bunch of guys as a league brought them up had a rookie camp / combine then a junior draft with those guys. It can be soo hard to cover all that ground for regional scouts especially with the football ops cap. That could be the huge shot of talent at qb that the cfl really needs.
  40. 1 point
yup....no issue here with me going over, and if we have the cash.....then pay the penalty in my opinion.....reap some the rewards from doing well

A&W's advertises their beef is raised without artificial hormones and steroids. I've yet to see them advertise their beef is anti-biotic free. Animals get sick and cattle isn't cheap to raise, I would have a very hard time believing their beef is 100% anti-biotic free, that would be exceedingly expensive I would think. Chickens, on the other hand... pretty cheap to raise comparatively, and they get from farm to factory much faster... sick ones can be 'set aside' instead of being treated stark as that sounds I should add just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean it's not out there... but it is news to me
  42. 1 point
they definitely shouldn't be hurting for cash after this season, that's for sure. Still replenishing the emergency fund after COVID, but this year will help a lot.

On the bright side, road construction and traffic delays have caused me to switch to commuting with my bike and it is MUCH more enjoyable experience. My commute before road construction was about 25 minutes, now it is often an hour (full of aggravation). My commute on my old bike is only about 45 minutes. Never thought the drive across town (15 km) would be quicker on my bike, but it usually is. The commute has also gone from stress-causing to stress-relieving.

With teams over the salary cap, significantly, do the penalties have any sting? I heard we could lose draft picks but has anybody lost a draft pick? With their attendance, how does Toronto keep coming up with this amazing amount of talent? The coaches and back office don't seem to be impoverished either. So what gives, really?
