6 pointsIn zone you usually leave the backside end unblocked by the OL so it’s generally 5 on 3 or even 5 on 2 at the line. That’s where that split block going counter the line or a receiver cracking on the end on the backside comes in if it’s not a read play. It’s doubles across the line driving with the flow of the play to catch other defenders downfield. It’s why DC’s like Hall love the bear front so much because it forces big on big blocks vs the run but pulls linebackers up into the line which is risky vs the pass and also forces your SAM and DBs to make tackles. In what I’m scheming up for my guys we love seeing the bear front because if everyone play side even just turns their block off the gap off guard or off tackle we probably have 8 yards for our back before he gets touched. Much harder to block through that flow to the ball if the backers are off the line.6 points -

The age thing is kind of misleading and is kinda skewwed a bit. Bryant's age of 37 effects the average quite a bit but he hasn't shown any let down...and really if he didnt get screwwed out of the MOL in 2019...he would be on a streak of winning it. Mike Benson at 36 also brings it up, but as strictly a long snapper...big deal...We have ZC at 34... and who is saying he looks old and declining??...we may see that at 37..38....Trevor Harris age range....but again that brings up the average...With Biggie and Neuf at that age too but where has their play hurt us? Briggs and Yosh at 33..One is a role player...other an all-star....Castillo is 32 with the Jeffs....and who wouldn't want them on their squad...If all 3 were to be dumped they would be starting on a new team the following week...and Jake...who I think is on his last legs this yr and will be done...and hopefuly his role scaled down in favour of Lawson Rest of the lineup is 31 and under with the majority in the 23 to 27 age range.....old and aging is way over blown5 points

4 pointsSee the Bombers running a lot of wide and inside zone. McCrae's big run this past week a good example of wide zone. Whole line moving left, Bryant washes his guy wide which sets the edge, decent play by the defender but since the line gets driven back by the interior into the backers there's no one behind to make the play when McCrae cuts vertical. BOLO comes with Jet motion likely to seal that backside edge if Montreal crashes, but the end shifts pre-snap inside, basically head up on Hardrick at the snap (who is drive blocking left right through the end) and the SAM is just waiting so they leave him. For added blocking they have Bailey motion and come right through the interior of the line. Helped that 44 on Montreal ran out wide and took himself out of the play too, then he has a wall of his own teammates and Bombers between him and the gap McCrae hits. I feel like Bailey is kind of freelancing on the run blocking side on plays where he doesn't have a defined assignment like cracking an end and the coaches trust him to do that.4 points -

3 pointsCoaching and continuity. Some of those power plays they run off their base concepts aren't possible if you're bringing in a new guy every week like some places are out of necessity of injury or poor play. Guys have to read the same thing to pull those inside trap blocks effectively.3 points -

3 pointsMonday, July 3rd, 2023, was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth, The Guardian reported on Tuesday. "The average global temperature reached 17.01C (62.62F), surpassing the August 2016 record of 16.92C (62.46F), as heatwaves sizzled around the world," explained the British outlet, which compiled data from the United States National Centers for Environmental Prediction. The unprecedented warmth even affected the planet's polar regions. Retired professor Eliot Jacobson posted a ClimateReanalyzer.org graphic on Twitter showing "that temperatures above freezing" were "reaching all the way to the coast of Antarctica near the Thwaites glacier." Experts reiterated that the relentless burning of fossil fuels is fueling the disruptions to Earth's climate and that humanity's failure to cease emitting greenhouse gases will lead to a cascading series of crises. "People around the world are already enduring climate impacts, from heatwaves, wildfires, and air pollution to floods and extreme storms. Global warming is also exacerbating crop losses and the spread of infectious diseases, as well as migration," Global Climate and Health Alliance Executive Director Jeni Miller said, as quoted by The Guardian. "The extraction and use of coal, oil, and gas harm people's health, are the primary driver of warming and are incompatible with a healthy climate future. That's all the more reason that governments must prepare to deliver a commitment at Cop28 to phase out all fossil fuels, and a just transition to renewable energy for all." Climate scientist Friederike Otto of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment at Britain's Imperial College London warned that an overheated Earth is "a death sentence for people and ecosystems."3 points

He is a career backup getting a chance to be a starter because our league is in a bit of a QB crisis right now. He shows just enough every 3rd or 4th game to give a fan base hope and is average to below average the other 3/4 of his games. That's not my opinion, that's historical and present day fact. Maybe, he has a team around him this year that can help him hide his warts a little more but he is realistically in the same ilk as a Matt Nichols, Kevin Glenn etc. He is not a guy I would be scared of over the course of a season. The spin move worked for 4 games in 2019, it can work again.3 points

2 pointsThe move was invented by NFL QB Coach Jack Elway in the 70's. There was a drill my son used to do practicing that exact move. It's called "Elway's Way". He used to spin the other way. Once he spun to his left in a HS game here in Calgary & didn't know a linebacker or DL was coming the other way to his left. He got pancaked & said "**** that". He told me that he wouldn't do that again. But he did, of course when he needed to. All the way thru college. To be really effective, a qb has to spin both ways. At the same time the DE on Fajardo's left has to be aware he's going to do that. Today, I don't think they coach that move anymore with the way young qbs are being taught to throw. Now qbs use different arm slots & just throw around a charging DL or linebacker suckering them in. We saw Collaros do that, I believe last game. However, I'd love JUST ONCE to see Fajardo get lit up like a Xmas tree when he does that.2 points -

2 pointsWith mccrae and sweeps yeah. Not with Brady. Though buck has certainly been more adventurous with run design this year. Luckily we haven’t seen more of the suicide sweep toss. it’s a whole lot different than when plop was running the offense. 100% agree on Bailey. They let him read his own block frequently and he seldom if ever disappoints. I loved schoen getting the lead block off sweep motion in a counter trey run too. If blocks / pancakes for WRs were counted he’d probably be an all star last year. He’s like a none dirty hinse ward.2 points -

2 pointsMy experience has been mixed. I only worked from home a couple of times pre-pandemic, even though my position allows for that flexibility. I was home 100% until May last year and now work a blended schedule. I split my workload between things that are best done in the office and those that are better done at home. I appreciate the social interaction when I'm in the office and find I'm much more active. But, home allows me to work uninterrupted and saves me money. With everything, it depends upon the type of work and how it's organized.2 points- CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

2 pointsI myself work a hybrid schedule, depending on the task that needs doing. That being said, 4 of the 5 teams I support aren’t local so I am never local to them unless I travel so it doesn’t really matter where I am. If I’m punching numbers on spread sheets and doing statistical analysis home is more productive, collaborative tasks often in office is better. In my mind WFH needs to be treated like going to the office, dressed for work, breaks as per the office. I always start when I would normally leave and finish when I get home so they get at least an extra hour from me those days too. My wife is a Fed civil servant, working an Ottawa based job and works harder and does more from home than she ever did in the office.2 points- Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
