That is an exceptional get. He’s an insane athlete for an nfl lber. He is freakishly strong and plays like he’s 260lbs. Hes definitely on the list of guys I’m excited to see. His experience on teams he could be a di for us out of the gate.
  2. Barrington Wade was justed signed yesterday. 6 foot 1, 232 pounds. Was on the Bombers' neg list for awhile. Spent time on the Broncos' practice roster and got into 4 games in 2021. Was released by Denver at the end of Aug last year.
  3. The problem with the “Liegghio did not cost us because he is not responsible for the blocked kick” it that it creates a misleading narrative by conveniently forgetting his missed convert. Unless the snap was fumbled on that kick (and it wasn’t), that PAT miss is on him. One point lost there. We lost the game by one point. So to wash that away and focus only on the block feels as disingenuous an argument for his defenders as blaming him for the blocked FG is for his detractors. He missed more PATs than any other kicker all season long (and also the previous year) so THAT was the concern going into the Grey Cup, and lo and behold when the chips were down he missed again (like he did twice the week before in the West Final, which cost us a net 4 points). It is a 32 yard kick, which for today’s kicker should be close to automatic, maybe one or two misses a year over the course of 50 kicks. THAT should be the discussion about his fault or not in losing the game. Not the block which seems like a red herring in trying to defend him.

I was part the original crew that worked at Bonanza. We opened in November 1973. I was in Grade 12. Winnipeggers loved the place. Man, were we busy!!!

Wanna bet? He’s going to punt and kick off while Sergio kicks fgs. Book it. About 0.0001% chance he’s cut. If Sergio gets hurt then legs will take over kicking. And they’ll likely go into next years camp the same way, contract depending.

Some thing gordo mentioned in the tc thread that I missed entirely with the pick up of Castillo is we also signed barrington wade a lber that’s been on our nl for a good year I believe. https://www.milehighreport.com/platform/amp/2022/6/9/23147575/broncos-roster-barrington-wade https://www.si.com/nfl/broncos/news/barrington-wade-player-profile-2022-outlook hes an insane athlete, plays much much stronger than his listed size. Hasn’t gotten a ton of reps from college or the nfl on D, but is a guy that if he picks up the game reasonably quickly could be a di for teams this year. His game really projects well to the cfl.

I mean I guess it's possible legs gets seriously hurt and cut as a result.... but not likely. Dude is going to be on the team because contrary to what some people think he doesn't suck.

Sorry but not blaming the kicker in a game where our highest paid qb in the league and run away MOP couldn't get anything going. Kickers miss, it happens. Don't let it come down to that and we needed a hell of a lot more from the offense in that game full stop.

Our qbs threw 2 picks and no tds. Willy and biggie combined for 1 defensive tackle and 1 special teams tackle. We completed 8 of 16 to demski, schoen, and Sheed for 125 yards. Our longest passing gain was 39 yards. We had a team passer rating of 45.92. Zach during the regular season had a qbr of 116.2. Grant on returns alone had 268 yards with a td. Collaros completed 2 passes in the 4th q, was sacked twice and we threw two picks in the 4th. Our whole offense put up a combined 286. In our first 4 drives we picked up 3 2 and outs and the other drive was 4 plays including the punt. Our defense collapsed vs a rookie qb with hardly any reps this year in the 4th q giving up the lead and game winning points. If you want to give legs his share of the blame, the differential on punts and kick offs was abysmal. To the point it was essentially two first downs of yards gained every time we traded any kind of kicks. Getting his kick blocked because a guy was not touched on a 47 yard attempt isn’t on him.

to me the tone of the discussion here is not different from that of the football, and hockey discussions. football forum, posters are referred to as some version of stupid, regularly, and vehemently. sneering, angry insulting comments are seen quite regularly. and often the discussions are not informative, or based on much in the way of facts. If we want to be consistent, may as well shut them down too, if insults and stupid, fact free posts are the issue. I dont have any problem with any of the posts, or posters, I just ignore the ones that seem to be simply arguing, to "win",or to annoy. and, while there is some silly back and forth stuff, there are also many worthwhile informed comments, that are quite good

Man we used to love going to the all you could eat deep fried shrimp days on weekends. The servers would just walk around with baskets of deep fried shrimp and we would just have them dump out the baskets onto our plates. But we had to make sure we left room for the all you could eat soft serve ice cream. Never be a place like that again.
  12. Leggs ****ing sucks and will get cut by the end of TC. The team has no confidence in him and rightly so.
  13. 3 points
The blocked FG was not “the reason” we lost - but his all around shitty kicking (punting and place kicking) was a big factor.
  14. 3 points
I'm going to be somewhere in the middle in all this - because our kicking was not good enough last year. Full stop. But, our team should still have won the Grey Cup and everyone failed to show up. But you keep bringing up his CIS stats like it means anything at all. It doesn't. Every player in the league killed it in college, that's why they believe they can play pro. But it doesn't mean anything once you're here - especially 2/3 years in.

Barrington Wade is one name off our neg list I’m very happy to see us sign I didn’t say I would cut Rose. I said I wonder if they’ll consider getting younger. Darby is an option too. They’ve always got huge competition in camp for DBs, so you never know.
  16. 3 points
Kicking did not lose us the gc. It didn’t win it for us but blocking is what failed on the final kick. He could’ve shanked that ball for a single and sent it to ot. A lot of things lost us the game not the least of which was a horrible performance by our reigning mop and buck pierces play calls.

  18. Osh NEVER goes for 2 points even when it makes sense. Drives me nuts. Its the one thing i hate about him lol. Its almost as if he once fell in love with a 2 point conversion and it cheated on him and broke his heart.
  19. I'd like to see us go for 2 points once per game...cause why not...it allows the 2 point team reps under fire, and is good reps for in the season when you may really need it...I would bet we probably are the team in the CFL with the fewest 2 point attempts over past 5 years...and its not even close
  20. Times haven't been released yet but I image practices will start around 830-1000.

Trump occasionally tells the truth though... like when he said he loved the poorly educated... or when he said his personality stopped developing at 6 years old.
  23. Statistically nearly identical.
  24. That's like saying we shouldn't go for it on third and goal on the one because the FG is easier. You're leaving a point on the field when you go for one. I would like to see us go for two more often.

Here, I'll play Mother Hen for once. Doesn't the title of this thread begin with 'Don't Look Back? Back to enjoying this conversation. 🙂
  26. Last game we played, we lost by one because we went for one when we didn't have to.
  27. 2 points
Statistically, Castillo missed converts at a higher percentage. I agree on that extra point though. He missed it.
  28. 2 points
47 yards ain't a chip shot. You gotta put something into that.
  29. Not like that. Calgary and one year ott went for a lot of 2s. That’s it.

It’s crazy how that is the play that sticks with people vs stuff like the awful pick thrown by prukop. Or that call. Or collaros play in the grey cup. Soo many awful plays and performances to pick through.

Yeah a lot of this core has been together for years. Any year we will see the changes start. Salary cap wise most Guys are on affordable deals. Much more so than a year and two ago.
  32. yeah the only difference was that Lunsford just hung out at Bonanza on Pembina for the all you eat salad bar and soft serve ice cream as Subway hadn't been invented yet. and they already have won us a cup, so we know they can do it. I'm comfortable if they want to be the new Cameron/Kennerd 2.0, just keep bringing home the hardware boys.

Almost as bad as people who can't seem to understand that a blocked kick is rarely the fault of the kicker.

Grew up in a strongly conservative household in Winnipeg. My dad was a small business owner. He owned an auto body shop in St. Boniface right next door to the Norwood Hotel on Marion Street. My dad didn't like the NDP. Thought they were bad for business & just wanted to tax & spend taxpayer's money. He admired Duff Roblin & John Diefenbaker. So, when Ed Schreyer's NDP beat the Conservatives in Manitoba I was 14 & the next few years our house was full of conversation about how bad the NDP was. Like I said, Voting NDP for me is a huge geological shift. If you lived here you'd cringe having to vote for Danielle Smith. You can't trust her as she flip flops on things she said on talk radio. We have hit the bottom of the barrell here in Alberta. Oh yeah. For sure.

A surreal thought came over me walking the dog the other day that because a lunatic thought to himself 'I want that' has lead to enormous amounts of death, despair and destruction.
  39. Walters must be taking a Chevy'esk sabbatical at the cabin or something. I only count 21 DB's coming to camp, a far cry from the 32414 that came last year.....
  40. They're letting him try in training camp. He has to earn a role. That's pro football.
  41. 2 points
Even ignoring the Castillo signing, that was already made quite clear by the s**tload of kickers we are bringing to camp.
  42. 1 point
That’s the biggest part of it. Though our front 6 was key in the two wins and invisible in the loss. In 21 Biggie kyrie and Willy combined for 13 tackles and a pick. Jake added 4 tackles and a sack stove had 4 tackles and 2 sacks. Sayles and jeffcoat had good games the rest of our front 6 didn’t.
  43. Nice! Thanks guys. 8 or 10 doesn't matter - I'm there
  44. 1 point
Legs kicking didn't lose it for us but it certainly was a contributing factor....A lot of people forget that our MOP QB. was not having a great game and was also not a 100 percent physically ....I think Zack was feeling the effect of that hit he took in the west final a lot more than what was being revealed.....Letting a cold back-up qb. come in, and have his way with us, without throwing the house at him was something I thought was also a key point in that game....In any event onward and upward and 'don't look back' .........lol

What Paul doesn't tell you is he allowed that culture to exist in the room. Lots of fun quotes from Paul in the media like I can make them cry in there but it was just for show. Maurice allowed the room problems to fester. It's not all on him but the dressing room problems started with him. Accountability was never a thing with Maurice.

Lol I mean. Physics says otherwise but ok
  48. Leggs should probably be happy if this turns out to be the case, still earns the same money but removes the pressure of making game winning FG's from his duties.
  49. 1 point
I like the combo of Sergio and Leggs.....The kid still has learning years and Castillo definitely affords him that....It was a successful team in 21' ....should be again.....Another solid Leg-up for the Bombers in 23'.....(pardon the pun)
