According to Farhan Lalji of TSN #Bombers rookie WR Dalton Schoen is fully expected to be on the roster for the start of the 2023 #CFL season

Just to remind everyone- Lawler is 28. Younger than a lot of these other guys getting paid.

  9. Well said. It really shows how spoiled we’ve become when we complain about Grey Cup performances; like getting there three years in a row and winning two isn’t a major accomplishment.. Like we didn’t have a 30 year drought and a lot of bad to mediocre seasons in between that time period.. heck 10 years ago I just wanted the Bombers to not be the laughing stock or the league. How quick we forget!

    That is, uh... oddly specific.
  11. I like having posters from other teams. I don't get why some of you get so butt hurt over it. Other teams have good players/seasons. It's ok to acknowledge it. DOesn't take anything away from our team.

  13. Some of you guys are whacked. We have the 2-time reigning MOP who is still 34 until August. QB primes are often early-mid 30's(hello Ricky Ray, Doug Flutie, Anthony Calvillo, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, ZACH COLLAROS, etc, etc. We have Lawler, Shoen, Demski, all of which are UNDER 30 and in and/or at the beginning of their primes. We have a 25 year old 1000 yard Canadian RB who didnt even figure things out until like week 7 and then pounded the rest of the league. Our o-line is stacked and still the envy of the league even with the departures of a couple guys, and our tackles have shown zero sign of slowing down. Willie and Jeffcoat are still the two best bookends in the league. Ill agree our defense is older, but christ, were going to score 50 points a game so who gives a s**t lol. Having said that you dont think Bighill is going to have a huge chip on his shoulder after a down season while playing with an injury? Not to mention a healthy Wilson and Darby for a full season. Our secondary is still young and talented, and Alexander is still only 29 and is going to come in fired up and fresh after having missed 2/3 of the season. Really DT is the only concern i have right now(well that and kicking). To say we arnt the OVERWHELMING favorites and best team on paper is insanity.

I like the Mauro signing....guy is great on teams and took lotsa reps on defense and was not a weakness when out there, and actually made more than a handful of real nice plays, and if you watch a lot of the games, played his position really well, and forced ball carriers into areas where they got ate up....solid solid re-sign
  15. Appreciate that Booch. While it is fun to laugh at the Argo’s representation around the league at times, it’s also sad. The CFL is a fantastic league that doesn’t get near the attention it deserves. MBB is an active form with a lot of solid posters with good football knowledge, I like that I can come here and talk CFL. But, I do agree that if you’re on an opposing team’s board, you do have to cater to that. It’s just a natural expectation.

    its on myspace I think

I remember how much I hated it when Montreal had S.J. Green, Ben Cahoon and Jamel Richardson. Pretty safe to say we have that and more now.
  20. I think Lawler is going to have an absolutely massive year. He seems so excited to be back in blue and gold.

I too want all the benefit of running a CFL team without having to put any of my own money into it.

Agreed if big targets like Woli and Augdosi are your 4th and 5th options you’re in a really good position..

We had the best offence in the league and brought back (arguably) the best WR in the league. Our RBs are young and our WR are young Our OL is all-star calibre with some guys getting up there, one is coming off the Lineman of the year award and not showing signs of drop off. Our RT need to bounce back but deserves the chance to do so. Our RG shows no sign of decline and is important on and off the field. All 3 would start on basically every other team. On top of that we have good depth with young guys in the wings. Our DL is getting up there, but DEs can play forever. WJ would start anywhere and JJ needs to stay healthy (if he does he is elite). Our DTs worry me the most but there is tie to address it. LBs Biggie is asked to do more than any LB in the league. Now that Darby is back (who was the best at his position in 2021) Biggie can play one position instead of two. Wilson (if he is healthy) is the most underrated LB in the league. If he jumped around with his helmet off more he would get more love. Good NI depth, guys who can fill in for short periods. TC is a place that jobs can be won here. Secondary with Nichols, Houston, Alexander, Parker, Rose, Lawrence as a base with good depth. No age or talent concerns here plus our ability to find DBs

With Burnham retired in B.C., it's not even close anymore.

  28. https://3downnation.com/2023/02/14/edmonton-elks-make-all-star-receiver-eugene-lewis-cfls-highest-paid-non-qb/ The Edmonton Elks have agreed to terms with receiver Eugene Lewis, per sources. It’s a two-year contract through the 2024 season that makes Lewis the highest-paid non-quarterback in the CFL at $320,000 per season.

    Good news!
  34. I get the concern about the age, I'm not entirely sold on it being valid. I suppose time will tell. If they had gone 10-8 and just gotten into the playoffs. I'd probably feel the same. But we saw the best win record in team history last year. That should leave reason for optimism in and of itself. To the bolded part - I think a lot of people really don't understand what that team was. I fully believe had a full season been played they would hold the best record in franchise history. Anyone who expects that type of team AGAIN...will forever be disappointed. I fully believe that team (especially the Defence) was a once in a lifetime thing. The Bombers and the CFL won't see something like that for decades. I'm obviously a homer...but the stats speak for themselves. There isn't a team right now that will even come close to doing what that Defence did. So if being better than arguably the best defence of all time is your metric, I can understand why you're disappointed.

  36. Oh no I want a rematch. Spank that flukes team back to Toronto.
  37. Yep, they've managed the money so well they can no longer afford players they just re-signed a month ago. 🙄
  38. Well Chris Jones found his formula again. High paid WR. Decent D. Mobile, inaccurate QB. OL made of breadsticks. Good luck with that.
  39. 5 points
Wow. So what level of production would be required to justify that salary? Seriously, what metrics would you attach to that portion of your receiver budget being locked on one player? I'm saying 1500 yards, 15 touchdowns (at a minimum) or it's a failure.
