A few days ago, when Yoshi's re-signing was announced in the Free Press, and he was described as ecstatic to be here. He said that at one time, he was reduced to living on mayonnaise sandwiches with only $18 and change to his name, so this is his best life. From the sound of it, he will be a Winnipeg lifer. Good to hear.

Finland taxes their churches 1-2.1%, depending on the parish. I say that would be a good start.

Personally, I'm a bit worried we're not really moving on from anyone. That list of guys we haven't brought back yet does give me some hope though. I'm thinking we likely move on from Taylor (he's gotta be finished after the Achilles sadly), Ellingson, Couture (wouldn't love this but if Dobson is ready, I trust it), Maston and Darby. That would likely free up some cash to make a splash here and there, especially since I can't imagine any of these names we've brought back in aside from maybe Willie got a raise. Hoping (selfishly) we hear some good for us, bad for him news on Schoen soon and then we can look at shoring up an extension with him.

    Wilson is already back.
  7. You would think, based on all the coverage from the CFL, TSN and their mouthpieces, that Rourke was coming to the CFL. They've spent more time and energy promoting a player leaving the league to be a backup than they have actually promoting the CFL.
  8. Kind of a cool Bisons-related story........Bennie Goods was, of course, a good one.....

This healthcare crisis is both caused by and benefits the Cons. Having systematically starved the system for decades whenever in power, s crisis can now be reacted to by farming out a lot of of procedures at exorbitant charges. They can now wring their hands and point to the expenses and say that public healthcare was what they have said all along- that its too inefficient and costly. Privatization is obviously (in their august opinion) the only remedy.

Tried to copy a comment from Reddit, but it doesn't seem to work. "Otherwise you'll make fragmented sentences like "School. Keep going" instead of " Keep going to school.""

As someone who worked for a for profit medical clinic, I can assure you the bottom line comes before anything else. And I honestly believe we had people with hearts running the show. Even still, at the end of the month/quarter/year...the discussion inevitably lead to $$. Put people who are ONLY interested in making $$ (which is eventually going to happen) and it won't be long before American style health care takes over.

I think people dramatically undervalue what Bighill is asked to do on D- and I doubt there is a comparable replacement in this league.

The Bisons teased earlier this week that they had a big announcement.

Alexander and Wilson for a full season would help to make Bighill look a lot better next year....I feel pretty confident in that. He was doing way too much last year, unfortunately, to compensate for all the injuries. My Top 5 remaining would be: Demski Couture Darby Sheed Janarion

I'm sure Walters would prefer if players of that stature and longevity saw the end coming and stepped away on their own accord. Instead of the messy divorce he had with Harris were he had to throw him out of the house and change the locks.
  20. 3 points
Walters has talked enough about the balancing act of keeping a veteran core together, while mixing in new blood, that I'm confident they know what they're doing. Also, how great is this quote from JJ:
  21. Between that ol and that fan base, Evans is making a mistake for both his physical and mental health going to the gap.

If the higher taxes mean lower suicide rates, less societal violence, better outcomes for critical illnesses, high education rates and increased contentment for Canadians, I'm all for it. The Americans and Canadian right-wingers will be apoplectic, but so be it.
  23. 3 points
They also need more effective rotation for the Jeff's to keep them fresh and off the injury list, as a good pass rush is the foundation of a good defence. The DE's they subbed in last season were not effective pressuring the QB. The good news is Hansen should be ready to roll but If Kongbo isn't coming back, I'd like to see them pursue Boateng in F.A., he's coming off a serious injury which caused him to miss all of last season, so he shouldn't be expecting top dollar.

Not to mention how many politicians suddenly find themselves in top roles for corporations that were beneficiaries of their governing once they leave office.

I was looking into this further. I work for a union, you have to register to be able to by the looks of it, and we don't. In fact I am required to fill out a monthly report to document any time I talk to a politician, and any time during elections we have to report every penny spent during the period, with a very low limit (like $3k nationally). Unifor does more so (under 1 million), but I'm going to guess that they're an outlier and that it's a veritable drop in the bucket in the big picture when you compare it to corporations. So, do some unions do this- yes- but I think it's disingenuous to lump them together when you look at the big picture. I don't think union contribution amounts are anywhere remotely near wealthy donors, corporations, or right wing organizations.

Assuming that the two Jeffs are back and in good shape, all we need is a immovable nose tackle and a mobile outside linebacker.
  42. Well, our resident know it all mouthing off again. Burgess has all of the answers to none of the questions.
  43. Correct. TSN had him maxing out at 116k if he got his playing bonuses (80k base salary). https://www.tsn.ca/cfl-qb-market-tracker-1.1754589
  44. Pipkin isn't making more money than Vernon Adams. That's an insane statement. And so is saying they're golden when they're not. Rourke made $71,000 last year & every qb on that Lions roster will be making more this season is going to mess with their salary cap. By the time they're finished there will be veterans of the lions signing elsewhere.

Trying this another way. Took the latest version of the Bomber roster and assumed that if a player isn't listed in 3DownNation's FA List, they were signed for 2023 (at least). Also took into account "stuff I've read". This may calm you or give you conniptions. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy.
