man, even at 9-1 bye weeks are miserable. while we're talking about controversial topics, here's some news from Spokane about Matt Nichols' life after football. He mentions wanting to sign a one-day contract to retire as a Bomber but it didn't work out. https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2022/aug/15/ex-eastern-washington-qb-matt-nichols-quietly-step/ I think that the org should honor Nichols -- he's definitely not ring of honor material but he was instrumental in turning around the program and I don't think we are a Grey Cup team without the wins and growing pains of 2016 - 2018.

I believe that strategy might work if Trudeau had not been in power since 2015. I believe there is a lot of fatigue with him, even among moderates. A new voice and effective new leadership would be nice. There are some portfolios that have been grossly ignored and a few that seem to be floundering. New voice, new direction and a new commitment to getting some legislation done. Justdeflation.

Objectively, We have played better against better teams. Our best games have been against Calgary and BC and it is clear this team has an easier time getting ready to go against them. Playing these bum teams can be hard - because emotionally you have a harder time getting up for them. Plus no more short weeks, byes, and more home games.
  11. Zach WIlson is the injured Jets QB and was projected to be the game 1 starter. He's only expected to miss a few games at this point. At minimum Strevy shud get a practice roster spot. Remember Strevy needs to be on the active roster for 6 more games to qualify for his NFL pension.

Fact: I read the above in a Dwight Shrute voice. It's perfect. I do wonder though... what games are the Lions going to lose? Strong possibility they may only lose one or two games... If the road goes through BC- I think our chances to 3peat just got crazy slimmer...

Like @Wideleftastutely put it, it's easier to tear down than build. This is what they've done for the past 6 years. Tear down with no plan. The next gov't will spend their entire first term just trying to get back what we've lost with this pathetic excuse of a gov't. Ontario will never recover. They still hadn't recovered from Harris' horific gov't.

And you're still stuck in the driveway. Nothing about what the riders have done makes them a tough opponent so it is still that same number of "tough" weeks on the remaining schedule with the added bonus of more rest for the Bombers. Easier schedule.

Do you place no value on playing for 10 straight weeks, mostly on the road, sometimes on short rest and practicing once per week? Because if you're just looking at the opponents in a vacuum, you're missing quite a bit of the equation. EDIT: Also, looking at the schedule, what’s harder about the second half? We played Cal twice and BC once. Now we play BC twice and Cal once.

Lots of pluses for her. Her husband has a demanding job that is not flexible. She made the decision years ago to return to Winnipeg and make it her home, after leaving for university and other opportunities. This is win-win for her, her family and the Jets. Family, family, family.

Possibly. As I say each time I make a Trudeau comment I totally dislike him but the BS they throw at him is ignorant. The guy has given enough ammunition to the other side that they don't need to make crap up. And they definatly don't need to inflame and embolden the nut bars. I think if people hang with the radical right long enough they come to believe that most people think that way. The longer this goes on, and the crazier the USA gets the more important this next election becomes in my mind. I've never feared that any particular leader or party would get in power or hold the balance of power in Canada. I always believe the pendulum has to swing back and forth to keep the Canadian clock running properly. What's happening now is different. Tantamount to throwing a wrench in the gears.

I really don’t think the difference between the good and bad teams is as great as some of you think. Intangibles, QBs and coaching sure, but the base talent level of the other players isn’t all that far apart.

I almost wonder if the constant unfair targeting of Trudeau by the right helps the party. There are legitimate criticisms, but most of the criticisms from PP & Co. are ridiculous, inaccurate and beyond the control of Trudeau (Justinflation for example). I know it makes me more sympathetic and has me thinking along the lines of "whatever we can do to stop PP from getting power". The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Perhaps some apathetic voters will see the danger of Trumpism coming to Canada and will increase voter turnout?

They have no ol no pass game 2nd fewest first downs 2nd fewest total yards 5th in points for in the 4/5/6 dear heat for points allowed most penalties against by a lot etc. they are good at running the ball getting sacks and have been Stupid lucky with getting fumble bounces. They’ve also allowed the most sacks they have 1 win against the west division and are plus 8 in pf pa. We are plus 88 bc is plus 119 and Calgary is plus 56. to put their line play into perspective they are -1 in sacks for against. We are plus 5 in more games played. They give up .8 yards per completion more than they gain. We gain 1.2 yards more per pass than we give up. They give up 13.1 higher qbr against than we do. They gain 1.2 more ypc than they give up but the worst second down conversion by a mile they give up 8.5 % higher conversion while we convert at a 6.4% higher rate. which is a gigantic head to head difference. 38% second down conversion to 54% on offense.

Right now there are only 4 teams in the CFL with a winning record and they're all in the West so of course in the second half as we get into mainly divisional games the schedule is tougher in terms of the record of the opponents. Winnipeg is 3-0 in games versus winning teams, BC is 2-1, Calgary 0-3, the Riders 0-1.

The 10 game tough schedule is separate from the records of the teams that were played. Don’t think for a second the other teams in the first ten weeks, didn’t block, tackle and play physical as hell. Obviously a toll on a body during a 10 week stretch is going to affect the Bombers because they too need to block, tackle and run like hell. Wolitarsky even mentioned, he has never had to push himself so much. Your measure of physical taxing based on a teams record rather than actual playing against other professionals physicality, is a fallacy.
