I guess there's only one thing left to do...Go back to back for Bob!

Isn't this what you want out of very well run organization. Young guys come in learn develop and take the 1 number one jobs. Kenny Lawler is #1 guy now Demski is #2 and Bailey #3. That not an indictment on Adams it the progression of a roster its what you want to see.

This is absolutely brutal for me on a few levels. As a fan.....there are few things in life that I enjoy more than Irving/Tait/Brown on the radio. I've said it before, but I could listen to those guys BS about the CFL all day. They will never be able to re-create that, no matter what they do. As a broadcaster/program director, you'll never find a better role model. He is the very definition of professional. Every single aspiring sports broadcaster should model themselves after Bob. No stupid bullshit or gimmicks....just the straight facts all the time. And little to no patience for anything else. I have absolutely no clue how they'll go about replacing him. There are options "in house", there are options within the city, not currently within Corus, and there are external options (seriously, the Rod Black thing isn't the worst idea I ever heard...). I'm sad because it's ending, but I'm happy I got to experience it while it happened.

I would love soo much for the first home game next year to feature Bob Irving's name going up on the ring of excellence. And another great cup banner would be nice too.

Adams is great in the locker room ..big leader of the team not just recievers. He's the grit guy...gives the offence attitude and his play/role is what's giving Demski and Bailey space...he's a threat and needs to be accounted for..and Lawler gets benefit of that...tho he is a top tier receiver regardless anyway... Also he is always blocking his ass off and doing all the things right which sets the standard and example here...and he will be key in playoffs....again

Like many here, Bob has called games all my life. Remember the old days of listening via CJOB as not all games were on TV and pre game and post game on OB driving to and from home games is a staple. Happy for Bob, sad for us.

So, I know one guy who is now looking for work, has a long history already with the CFL and PBP, and has strong ties to Winnipeg to boot. And MBB goes bat s*** crazy in 3, 2, 1……..

That would be a wonderful send-off to a good guy and great broadcaster.

One day, I hope when you type legend into Wikipedia , Bob's name will pop up. A true legend.

Couldn't agree more. Irving is a broadcaster for those who actually like the sport and don't feel there needs to be any gimmicks. Doesn't feel the need to be cheap or artificial because he genuinely loves the game. My introduction to the Bombers as a kid was through listening to Bob call the games. We didn't have cable/satellite for the longest time, but I would be able to see a few games on CBC and maybe a game at the stadium in the cheapest seats every year or two. Mostly I relied on Bob to paint the picture of what Canadian football is. Was I ever lucky to be introduced to football by that man. I don't know if I would have the same love for the Canadian game without him.

Bob is a legend. He's the voice of my childhood. It's going to be extremely weird to listen to someone else call games. Only one question remains for me now.....what should I wear to the interview?

bunch of clowns...Hansen all day..every day...makes impact plays..rotates on a team with the Jeff's and Kongbo...he's the top global...He could probably be a starter on many teams

Well, TSN loves those in-game interviews, and has even asked a country music star to step in and do play-by-play. This would be the one time I would whole heartedly endorse that segue. Honestly, Bob would do a better job at it than any of the current PBP guys employed by TSN (no disrespect to Rod Smith). Would be very fitting to allow Bob to step in and broadcast his first Grey Cup since 1998 (when the local broadcaster for the host city got the radio gig), especially if the Blue Bombers get there again.

Colour is very different from PBP.

You can't but someone is going to come in here and do the job. Hopefully everyone gives that person room to grow into the job and don't compare them to Bob because there will never be another Bob Irving.

If you've never seen/heard it, it's worth your time to track down some old Bombers games on YouTube that were only broadcast on the "Canadian Football Network" (because the CFL didn't have a TSN/CBC deal at the time). Irving was the PBP for it. It's a lot of fun to watch those...

Just a reminder that we have the bye before the West Final. Any nicked up players (and there are always kicks after a game) will get their treatment and be ready to go. Or will take a lighter load at practice. Or will rotate more during the game. Anyone hurt enough to need rest will get it. I trust that the club will treat this as another normal week and not go crazy trying to sit players. Keep the same routine, go 1-0 this week. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Trying to guess who will sit “just because” is a fool’s errand.

Hard to replace a legend.....I don't know if they can....There's going to be something missing on the broadcasts and the game just won't be the same without Bob....Gonna be dearly missed...So long Knuckles ....you're the best

Edmonton is a special place to me. That was my almost 7 year Olds first not Kenora out of province vacation with me and the lady. Spent a week there and a 2 in Saskatoon because Driving and a few days in Banff Mall was Hella fun. This was 3 years ago now b4 pandemic and kindergarten started Fun times. They got elephants at the zoo. I would say Edmonton is like what Winnipeg properly built and with some vision could look like

This was the one game I could see us potentially losing only due to the convenience of being able to rest starters. I would mind seeing starts play halfs for the rest of the two games and have the backups or as many as we can for the other halfs.
