Eli is a major force. Re-watched his blocking in the Edmonton game, he was just rolling over guys. We have to keep that kid around long-term.

But how much rope do you give a guy who hasn't kicked in a meaningful game before coming here? This isn't a school for training future players. This is pro ball. This is supposed be results driven.

Miller, Walters, and MOS.....are simply total CFL lifers - they really understand how this league works, and what is required to succeed, and the will to just do it. We used to have way too much passing of the buck, a million entries in the ole Bomber book of excuses, and an never-ending assortment of different levels of incompetence........for so many years, on OB and here..... I screamed for, begged and demanded a culture re-boot for this team. These guys have done just that, and I couldn't be prouder.......

I think the great key to our success is knowing our team as much as it is knowing the players. Lots of teams can look and see talent. Some teams can predict how talent will project in the CFL. But no team is doing a fraction of the job the mafia is at projecting players fitment into their cfl roster. When the bombers draft a guy, they know what role that guy will fill if they succeed. They know how to deploy them and it fits with what we do. Many times, my self and others have gone oh I wish we drafted that guy! And some times that guy is indeed a good cfler. But not soo much a good bomber. Some times of course other teams pick guys we'd love before we can, but over all we do an exceptional job picking guys who will fit what we do as a pro. And just like the players fit the team, the mafia fit each other. Wade, walters, mos, and all the rest. They are all in sync. In his book "the score takes care of it self", bill walsh talks about his first changes when he took over the 49ers job. He instituted standard operating procedure for every single job. It didnt matter if it was janitorial, receptionist, or QB. Every job was held to the same standard of excellence, and every member of the franchise was expected to fit the mold. The whole book is basically about winning culture. Id strongly recommend it for any bomber fan, the style of culture building is exactly like what the bombers have done.

Easy solution. Open the gates an hour earlier. First fan to make a successful FG from the 45 wins a custom jersey, $100 bomber store credit as a signing bonus and gets the opportunity to kick in game if the opportunity arises. The only caveat being they must sign a waiver stating they will not sue the club if they get completely destroyed by the opposing team.

Bottom line is I don't think there is a gm in thr league who does their homework on the draft as much as walters does. Same with the global draft. He is the most proactive gm in the league if you ask me. His philosophy of always drafting guys for the lines has paid off bigtime.

Yeah that's just it. He is an older American, you can't stpe in and hit field goals at an average rate GTFO.

I think its much more mechanical. Its like a pitchers delivery and release. Except you need basically flawless mechanics every time. Mental issues can ruin any player in any sport. And staying consistent through long droughts of not kicking, even with in a game is tough. But that is never an issue with QBs who come in off the bench or who go a long stretch with out a possession/many passes. Ive played with kicking, but I wasnt a real kick at any level. Ive done muay thai and kicking arts extensively and I can tell you ive seen peoples kicking mechanics fall apart over minor tightness and all kinds of minor technique issues. Watching soo many of Mourtadas clips, he practices trying to make field goals while kicking off. The tee, the holder, his approach, empty fields, and always from right down the middle. Its like a kick off. Which is why he excels at kicking off soo much. In a kick off you have no timer, you can take as comfortable a stride as you like. Kicking a field goal, you have to cover a very precise distance, with an exact number of steps, in a small time window. All of that is stuff he didnt seem to practice. His approach looks uncomfortable to me. And he looks un sure of every kick he launches. But never surprised when he misses. I really dont think he knows mechanically how to reliably kick and adjust to different spots on the field. He only seems comfortable with the xpt, which is right down the middle. It isnt really a surprise, he's only kicked a little bit in the IFL as a pro, didnt have a full college career, and what he had ended a very long time ago. He's old, lacks experience, and has tremendous leg strength. Weaker leg guys arent trying to hit 60 yard fgs every day, they are trying to figure out how to hit from every angle, and mastering their mechanics.

He's a bit more solid of a canadian than most vague NIs. He was born in richmond bc and started school in canada, his mom is canadian if only by way of toronto. His dad is a samoan and they moved to hawaii before tui started highschool. As far as balancing pedigree and nationality he's about as good as it gets imo.

In my mind kicking field goals is % 90 mental. If he can't get his head straightened out and deal with the pressure in regular season games on a team that does nothing but win regardless of the kicking game what is going to happen if the Grey Cup is on the line and he needs to kick the winner with seconds on the clock ? I know what the answer to that is right now.

Yeah, hes a freakin tank. The fact that in goal line sets they move a tackle out of their spot and put eli in says a lot. I would bet on him being a starter next year, and getting the league wide notice that desjarlais has this year. And more.

In regards to Moutarda.... it can only go up from here. He can't possibly play any worse?

He been doing that all year...dudes a beast. Neuf did fine...and is capable one game replacement. Be nice to get an import elsewhere just to get some flexibility options

Fajardo and it ain't close. Adams hasn't blown anyone away this year but he's at least capable of putting a 30+ yard pass somewhere in his receiver's catch radius. You could give Fajardo a corps of Burnham, S.J. Green, Arsenaux and Milt all in their primes and the Riders would still have no deep game. Give that same crew to Adams and the result would be at least fun to watch.

Which is fine, I have no problem if they don't want him doing it all at this point, but christ, a 3q year old 40% kicker who only hit short field goals.... you can't keep letting that guy keep trying field goals. He is too flawed at that aspect.

Right. Which is a long way of saying, he's not a CFL caliber kicker. Pro kicking is pretty black and white - can you hit 75 - 80% of field goals in actual games? If not, time to find someone else. Bad kicking will cost us a game. Hopefully not the Western final.

In steinbach things are slowly trending a bit more left, about 1/3 of votes went to ndp/libs. The SE is home to a hyper vocal minority of religious right wing extremists though. The deep south, winkler/morden etc are still pretty entrenched. But luckily on the whole the province is much more progressive. Having lived in both these areas I sure wouldnt want to be painted with the same brush. Alberta is like the area around those cities. Mostly people are pretty neutral and quiet. But sadly that just lets the wing nuts have their way. But then I dont think its fair to generalize and paint groups in mass. By that notion all of canada could be painted pretty poorly with respect to a lot of native issues.

Fajardo would do well in a Lapo offence. Fajardo is a game manager like Nichols and needs that type of offence and personnel around him. Asking Fajardo to win the game with his arm is a recipe for a losing record, just like it would have been if we asked Nichols to do it. Saskatchewan loves their shiny baubles and spends on skill players instead of their trenches and it can be exciting football at times but is not how you build a champion. The Riders don't even try to fix their trenches right. Garbage DEs because an over rated Micah makes all the cheddar, and an OL that, despite being a problem for years, has never really been addressed (JSJ bust, Shepley never wanted to be there, Mattland Riley a reach at his pick that needs a ton of development). Look at their high draft picks they've used on OL, any of them playing? Even there non OL draft picks either mediocre or left first chance they got. The RIders badly need a new person in charge of NAT scouting and a GM who will commit to building from the lines out instead of overpaying head cases like Marshall, Gainey or throwing big bucks at pedigree like Duke Williams or Micah Johnson.

I think Vernon Adams looks worse this year then Cody Fajardo. The guy is way to erractic and makes terrible decisions. Fajardo is decent at making 10 yard passes.... get him in Ottawa ASAP and Lapo will be thrilled.

Harris doesn't fit Montreal's offense at all.

So is a championship. I'd say that's more important than protecting a first round pick at 8 or 9 that may or may not play.
