Hey MBB, just wanted to share some news and some thanks. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I had surgery in May and started chemo in July and it sucked like chemo does ... was quarantined at home, couldn't do much of my regular life fun stuff .. I was bored out of my mind, and I have not been bored in years. Then the CFL season started and I discovered that lying on the couch and yelling at mapleball and hanging out in the forums with the good folks here was something I could manage (chemo comas permitting). So the CFL and MBB was a big big deal to me this year, it really helped me get thru by giving me twelve hours of low effort fun to look forward to every week. This is a thank you to everyone here for that, especially the mods who built and run this place. Had my last chemo yesterday, I'm in complete remission, and my prognosis is good. Back to life, back to reality. Thanks again and **** the cancer that stole 2021 from me. ps. it's impossible to say why I got cancer, I'm a nonsmoker ... but the single biggest cancer risk factor in my background was that I grew up with chainsmoking parents in the age of indoor smoking. That damage increases your cancer risk forever. Don't smoke in the car with the kids, friends.

I am shocked at how well we've done the last few months of the pandemic. I think we were right up there with Alberta and Sask on mismanaging the pandemic for 3/4 of the pandemic, but we've turned the corner. We might have even managed worse than them initially since we consistently had a lag on waves, but did nothing proactive to stop it until this 4th wave. And what do you know, it seems to have made a big difference so far. I think it helps that Manitoba has generally a larger percentage of the population that has progressive ideals. I haven't kept tabs on regional differences in other provinces, but Manitoba is a model statistically for why vaccinations work (thanks to Southern region for proving this). The only problem with this is the number would be skewed quite a bit. Vaxxed may seem high because they have less restrictions, but most importantly, will actually get tested if they have symptoms. Unvaxxed are less likely to get tested and many get their first Covid tests when admitted to ICU. On top of this, a lot more people are vaccinated than unvaccinated. I'm assuming many of the vaccinated people getting Covid are in high risk situations like nursing homes. Normal people may be able to understand this and make sense of seeing how many cases are vaccinated, but remember, we're mostly talking about the dumbest of our population. Any evidence of vaccinated people contracting Covid adds to their delusions that vaccinations don't work and aren't worth the risks, whatever nonsense risks they imagine. Rumour is they will have a horse on the packaging to reach a wider market.

Well, if he's open to offers, I'm hoping we're at least making a push. I mean, why not come to an almost guaranteed GC winner?

I was at the Alouettes/Lions game in Montreal a couple of weeks ago. He looked like the Reilly of old. Great throws, moved around in the pocket. Carved up the Als. Bombers D is much better, but it won't be easy. Best two QB's in the CFL right now going head-to-head.

If the bye week wasn't painful enough, we have to wait until 9pm (CST) tonight.

I don't know if it made news here but there was a big story in the Freep about Lori Pierce (Buck Pierce's wife) and her cancer battles .. she's had a way rougher ride than me, with breast cancer and then leukemia and a bone marrow transplant in the middle of the 2020 pandemic that required her immune system to be completely flattened. BC is the only team that actually scares me by season's end...they are good now and will get better...Sask..what u see is what you get...and we know we can handle their best. EDM...is a mess and I don't see them going on a playoff run with that online. Cgy...hard to put finger on what's up there...they have a defense who can carry them but offence seems off

Outside of the Banjo Bowl I don't think anyone thinks it is impossible to lose. Everyone knows BC has some good players. If you're hoping the actual Bombers team is looking past BC that won't happen. I still think the Bombers will win. Everyone here still loves Lucky Whitehead too. This ain't Rider fans

Calgary is the only team that has won more games than the Bombers since 2016.

Bombers are rolling. We have had Lions teams in the past where the Bombers are right now. Take some advice from a seasoned pro.... don't get too high. Things can change in a heartbeat in this league. And they will. But probably not tomorrow

So glad Manitoba was the leader in vaccine passports because we were able to navigate all the problems that come with setting up the system without the pressures of a fall surge and low vaccination rates. That and reversing course on restrictions being lifted for all + the mask mandate is proving valuable.
