The classic O'Shea injury report comes from a few years ago. When asked about an injury that Jake Thomas had suffered, O'Shea said "Meh, he's a Maritimer. He'll just soak his foot in a bucket of salt water for a day or so and then he'll be fine."

Don’t know if I saw it here or elsewhere on Twitter, but a very accurate comment on the state of the GOP is “they have a big problem with people going door-to-door to promote vaccines, but have no problem going door-to-door to demand to know how you voted in the last election” in an effort to find voter fraud.

I hear you. I have a three month old and I've been doing research in regards to transmission from fully vaccinated people and risk if he does get it somehow. According to Mayo Clinic, many kids have very little symptoms and are often diagnosed when they are admitted to hospital for other reasons, such as a broken arm - carrying Covid, but not really affected by it. Kids under 1 year of age are a bit of a different story as they have smaller airways and are less developed. My autoimmune condition likely means the vax was less effective on myself. I'm not too worried about hospitalization/death to myself, but more concerned with spreading to my son and other kids. Really want to go to the home opener, but weighing it carrying Delta back to my home. Fortunately I can have some reassurance being around others that have been sensible and likely have better protection than myself from the vax.

The banks are starting to get skittish about lending to the max. They may be starting to see that the market and house evaluations may be overrated and a "market correction" may be pending.

The same is happening in calgary too. We often look at upgrading houses but the house that we want is just stupid and a more sideways move is just a waste of money. It's the lie that boomers perpetuated about real estate always being a good investment. Mayne for them but we won't see the huge gains previous generations did and we are quite likely looking at a correction happening at some point screwing a lot of people over. Prices can't keep going up like they are without the corresponding increase in wages.

Apparently the Manchin family is heavily invested in the coal industry to the tune of $145 million. Those people who are getting bent about the Trudeau family receiving honoraria for speaking at events should think about that. More than one billionaire and even evangelicals have said that democracy is incompatible with their goals.

I think a big part of the boom is that (some) people have been saving tons of money through the pandemic. Those fortunately to not lose jobs or business income. Not spending on entertainment/travel/etc. puts a lot of money in the ol' savings account.

I count myself incredibly lucky to have bought in '07, I think thats the year things started to slowly heat up and prices around the city began to inflate... Bourkevale Park area, South side of Portage between Berry and Ferry, a stone's throw from the river... for only 91,500 back then. At this point, even a marginal upgrade would cost me another 200k. What would 90k get nowadays? The loft of a garage?

Sure, but if I were to rewind back to when we were saving for a house - when I was 20 years old... I was still in university, I was (at the time) working part-time earning ~$18,000 a year whilst attending university. The only eligibility criteria for CERB with respect to income levels was income in excess of $5,000. If the pandemic hit me whilst working at that job - I would actually have been earning more by staying on CERB for the period it covered ($2,000 per month * 12 months = $24,000 per year). Not only that - CERB payments were exempt from CPP and EI - so you actually got to retain even more of your money. All that said - the money absolutely had to go out, and that situation is the exception, not the norm for sure. I just meant if you were fortunate enough to be living at home and receiving CERB, the above scenario could certainly have ramped up your ability to save for your own home - if you had the means to do so.

15lbs of lean mass for a long time gym rat is pretty huge. He probably wouldn't have seen such gains if it wasn't for the lost year. But it could be gigantic for him. And give him a better ability to rotate inside and twist more. Kongbo is a really special talent. To have his size athleticism pedigree motivation and the ni status is a once in a generation thing up here. He and hansen are poised to have monstrous production even in lower reps then many guys in the league will see. I think we will not only have the best 4 man pressure in the league but some of the best 4 man pressure in years.

https://www.bluebombers.com/2021/07/16/quick-hits-tc-july-16-2021/ some good stuff, as always, from Our Man Tait....and just a quick teaser for you: 1. MORE MUSCLE?!?!: It’s in Jonathan Kongbo’s DNA to work hard. As evidence you may recall that back in his days at the University of Tennessee he won the 2018 John Stucky award as Volunteers’ best performer in the weight room. And so when the Blue Bombers defensive end arrived in Winnipeg in 2019 as a first-round draft pick he was already carved in stone at 6-5, 255 pounds. Now back with the club after spending the summer of 2020 in the training camp of the San Francisco 49ers and a short stint this year in The Spring League, Kongbo has added another 15 pounds to his already-chiselled frame.

My concern is for the kids who can't get vaccinated yet. I have an 8 year old, and until she is vaccinated I'm still a little uncomfortable with loosened restrictions. Specifically anything to do with masks and distancing.

The Toronto centre media in this country claims we all love the Blue Jays & Raptors. They think we even love the Leafs ahead of our own NHL teams. Well .... them. Never in a million years will I ever like or cheer for any pro sports team from Toronto. For reasons like this.

Well Noeller, our adopted province has really gone down the toilet bowl the past 28 months with Jason Kenney as Premier. Alberta ia beautiful place to live but politically it's become ugly. I don't know what to think anymore. The pandemic has brought out the worst in everybody & shown how weak & ineffectual Jason Kenney is as our Premier. Disappointed as an out of province fan I can't buy tickets as I'm double vaxxed. I have no idea what "being worked on" means.... Our dumbass Premier says AB won't issue domestic passports to show proof of vaccinations & the anti vaxxers supporters here cheer wildly. Thye vast majority of Albertans vaccinated would support something to show they're vaxxed but that ain't happening. I'm sure hoping that Albertans remember this clusterfuck of a government & vote Kenney out in less than 2 years.
