It was kind of funny. This church made a big deal out of religious oppression (which is a joke) and planned to go forward with a service with no capacity limits. It turned out not enough of the flock decided to show up so they ended up being below the 25% capacity mark. I think also that the media doesn't need to cover this stuff because it ends up making national headlines and extreme libertarians across the country are emboldened by it.

Worse comes to worst - Harris declines and Augustine/Oliviera/Borsa are not good enough - then we can go back to 🇺🇸 RB. I do think we have 🇨🇦 content to make the switch.
  5. I expect to see a lot of this at the LDC and Banjo Bowl

100%. the 2 articles on 3dn about labatte retiring (he would be 37 and out of football for 2 years next, thats what this is) seem to have only the mildest concern for them replacing half their OL. They dont even have a lot of league back up experience. Hardrick and couture probably have more combined cfl games then their entire roster of OL. I wouldnt be surprised if neuf and gray or desjarlais combined for more too. Or if bryant alone was close to matching their entire unit. Fajardo has a big step to make going from a first year starter to succeeding consistently after other teams have a good amount of film on him in the cfl. 1 spin move and 1 pattern created a TON of their success last year. That has to grow exponentially to continue succeeding. That was their primary limiting factor before they lost half their OL. At one point in time, Rick mirer was touted by no less than bill walsh as the next joe montana. He had a better rookie year than drew bledsoe, despite taking a TON more sacks. And in that rookie year he also had at most 5 passing plays, almost never checked down, and had a gigantic split for favored side of the field. In year 2 bledsoe smashed mirers production on an epic level as mirer was never able to adapt to more than he could execute in his first year. He became a huge draft bust with 26 more picks than tds and 20+ loses more than wins. Fajardo has to over come what mirer didnt. And with out a stable OL.

I think the vast majority of people simply consider Canada Day a day off with fireworks at the end and few even consider that it is the anniversary of confederation. If I were to guess, the people who appreciate it most are immigrants and refugees and the one's who say they appreciate it most are racist nationalists like CanadaProud, OntarioProud, AlbertaProud etc. etc. Below is the best advice I've seen: An extremely gracious and thoughtful response from Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme on The National last night, when CBC host Ian Hanomansing asked what his message is to Canadians: "From a First Nation perspective, I love living in Canada. I went to university, I grew up on Cowessess, I have the best job I think I ever wanted, being chief. It's not an easy task. But there is an accidental racism and ignorance in this country when it comes to history. You know, Indigenous people - and I'm speaking from Cowessess perspective - we don't want to live in our current state. We want to be part of the economy. We want to be part of the growth... the social lives. Sometimes in this country, being Indigenous, it's as if you gotta prove yourself a little more. You're so used seeing maybe, someone asking for change and being Indigenous... you know, there's a story behind every one, of the history that we inherited. So my comment to everybody listening is, from Cowessess, we're not asking for pity. We're asking for understanding. We're asking that you stand beside us, that as we are gaining our control again - as Indigenous people - in our Treaty relationship, that we have better understanding. That our kids going to school understand the impact that residential school made, but also even pre... what great economy Indigenous people had prior to Treaty. This country would be so much more well-off, when Indigenous ideology and understanding is welcomed in, and not just brought in on certain days of the year. (On the debate over whether to cancel Canada Day) I would never tell somebody what to and what not to celebrate. You know, in 2021, we all inherited this. Nobody today created residential schools. Nobody today created the Indian Act. Nobody today created the Sixties Scoop. But we all inherited this. And if we want to say we're proud Canadians, then we will accept the beautiful country we have today, and we will accept what we all inherited. And what I would challenge is: Everybody on Canada Day in this country, if you say you're a proud Canadian, read the Truth and Reconciliation 'Calls to Action.' Over 100,000 residential school survivors told their story - including my parents - and they created the Truth and Reconciliation 'Calls to Action.' Bring that into your personal life, your social life, your business life. And read the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls 'Calls to Action.' There's 231 Calls to Action. If we can all own those a little bit in this country, in one generation we would overcome so many challenges today, that our next generation won't inherit this. We will make them more as Dreamers."

I don't recall him being a great blocker, but that's about my only complaint so far. I thought he ran the ball well. Imo, Harris' blocking and experience in knowing where to be as a safety outlet for the qb would be the two hardest things to replace if he got hurt.
  9. Now is the time to start working Augustine and/or Oliveira into game action to spell Harris. Start the torch passing this season.

Some random thoughts across this thread so far.... Harris is a workout animal, and he has never been a speed runner. He will perform at a high level when healthy. At his age and his usage level I am far more worried about durability than performance. Augustine and Oliviera are the heir apparents but don't forget to throw Bursa into the mix. The Rider OL is hot garbage right now. Labatte opting out leaves a massive hole in a line that already had massive holes to fill. Fajardo better bring his ballet shoes to camp because if he thought he had to spin in 2019 that was just practice for this year. I really don't see how Hamilton or anyone else can be gushing about the RIders. Football teams are built along the LOS and I don't see much on either line for the Riders.
  12. Fortunately we have two in Augustine and Oliviera.

what I saw on Twitter via the associated press well we do know that people can die from the Delta variant (we had a couple of deaths from this variant here right?) One of my co-workers said she couldn't wait to burn her masks.....yeah no, I'm not ditching the masks once I get my second dose because I take the bus to work, and buses don't guarantee social distancing. Plus the Delta Variant exists

And a heckuva receiver who is tough to bring down after the catch.

I agree that Oliveira and Borsa have the skills to make it. But until they do, I'm not anointing them. I'll give you the pass blocking thing. But the rest is bordering on weird opinion. The majority of his carries came in his 2 starts last (2019) year, where he displayed that he can catch the ball out of the back field (see banjo bowl) and out run defenders. He also showed he can make guys miss in the open field (see Labor day). And those are just the examples I can think of. He also played Special teams....I believe it's been mentioned that his yrds per carry are real nice at around 6yrds, but it's a small sample size. I'm just confused at the lack of respect for a guy who has only produced for us.
  19. 2 points
This is really all it comes down to. Andrew Harris is maybe the most rounded runningback out there. Augustine is a good runner, he just isn't as multidimensional as Harris.

  21. 2 points
Yea...a Harris decline would suck, but realistically it is a very easily solved problem. I want AH to get 2000 yards from scrimmage but I would also take it by committee if need be or have a third of it go elsewhere in the offence with an American giving us 1200-1400 yards combined. With our OL any RB we put behind them is going for 1000 yards in an 18 game schedule....get one that can catch a few balls out of the backfield as well and we are alright. I feel that Demski would just start seeing a lot more action in the short game and we would not lose a beat.
  22. 2 points
You are not impressed by Augustines 6+ yards per carry yet you are impressed by Oliviera's zero carries and one big injury? That is a weird take.
  23. Harris appears to be more of the George Reed type aka all star well into his mid 30s. I thought Augustine was solid in 2019 when Harris was out. Oliviera the injury was two years ago and I know he's been training hard and is in good shape.

But the Pennsylvania Supreme Court determined Wednesday that Cosby’s conviction in a second trial ― after the first ended in a hung jury ― was invalid. The court found that Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, who initiated Cosby’s arrest, was obligated to stand by a promise his predecessor had made not to charge Cosby, though there is no evidence that promise was ever put in writing, The Associated Press reported. The predecessor who made that promise to Cosby was Bruce Castor, who defended former President Donald Trump ― another man with dozens of sexual misconduct allegations against him ― in his second impeachment trial. Money talked and a predator walked.

oh FFS, more negative side effects from AstraZeneca: https://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2021/75947a-eng.php Key messages Very rare cases of capillary leak syndrome (CLS) have been reported following vaccination with AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine. A history of CLS was noted in some of the cases. A fatal outcome has been reported. AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine and COVISHIELD (the version of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India) are now contraindicated in individuals who have previously experienced episodes of CLS. CLS is characterised by acute episodes of limb edema, hemoconcentration, hypoalbuminemia and hypotension leading to organ damage. Patients with an acute episode of CLS following vaccination require an urgent medical assessment. Intensive supportive therapy is usually warranted for this life-threatening condition. Health Canada worked with the manufacturers of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine and COVISHIELD to update the Product Monographs for these products to include this new safety information, as well as other updates including additional guidance for healthcare professionals regarding thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome. The benefits of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine and COVISHIELD in protecting Canadians from COVID-19 continue to outweigh the risks. Canadians are encouraged to get immunized with any of the COVID-19 vaccines that are authorized and available in Canada.

Can anyone who has reservations/doubts about Augustine explain why? As far as I'm concerned the Bombers are very lucky to have him. He's done nothing but perform when given the opportunity. Catches the ball well out of the back field, runs hard and heavy, but can make DB's miss in the open field. I don't get the heat he's taking? The other two NI's have done absolutely nothing at this level, so I'm not sure why they would be preferred over a guy who has shown multiple times that he belongs here.

I live just south of Red Deer, where he played his final year of Junior. We went to see him in playoffs against Medicine Hat spring of 2011...prior to his draft... He came better than advertised. Definitely consensus #1 pick. But always thought the double last name was odd. So right from that night it was "The Hyphen" or just "Hyphen" ha ha. Alwsys thought Nuge was a super lazy nickname.
