The fact that MOS has managed four straight seasons of double digit wins in a ruthless West Division without a star QB says a lot about the team and culture he has built here. You can feel the difference in attitude and approach all over the place. There is always an urgency to win the next play, but they aren't looking past that or stuck in bullshit pissing contests like some of the players/units on Hamilton and Sask are.

Escaping the pocket and making plays, throwing the ball more then 5 yards, not losing his cool and melting down when things stalled.

Crap on MOS. Crap in Nichols. It's the same BS we've heard for ages. But, but, but... Can't hear ya with the Grey Cup ringing in my ****ing ear. Bunch of whiners.

**** this. There wasn't 30 years of ineptitude. We had several great years in there even if we didn't win the ultimate trophy. The craziness and bitching about everything is what happens when you have a "fan" base filled with so many crazy people.

Can we just go back to Sunday night this place was a lot better.

Some people just have a negative outlook and I honestly feel sorry for them. I don't know how they go through life never truly having any long lasting joy in their lives.

There’s no telling that to be true. His numbers and 7-2 record could suggest otherwise. I think this team was going to win it all this year regardless. A cumulation of the Canadian Mafia’s vision and hard work all coming together. However Nichols got hurt and didn’t get his just desserts, prompting Walters to swing a trade for a like-for-like replacement. I fully believe this was our year regardless.

I’m not a big Nichols fan but the way the defense played in all three playoff games and what Streveler added in his role it think your average Nichols type of performance would have been more than enough to win the cup with him. Certainly Collaros is the better of the two quarterbacks though.

I think he is an ok returner who is merely average (at best) as a DB. Demond Washington The bum part comes from his personality.

What Collaros did in those 4 games was pure magic. But they were extraordinary circumstances, where you can almost pin it down to divine intervention as to how everything worked out with the storylines, luck and the bought-in motivated performance of every single player on the team. To think he would play that way all of next season is a bit wishful, IMO. He would have bad games, and is susceptible to injury. Say what you want about Nichols, but he’s given us 4 straight winning seasons since he has arrived. And he did win a difficult semi-final in Regina last year. He deserves a go at it on his terms, to try and win the whole damn thing with himself at the helm. With Buck as (potentially) our OC, and a bit of a chip on his shoulder watching another QB win the cup on his team, Nichols could be a whole different monster next year. I would not write him off just yet.

As I've said going on two years now, the best thing I can say about Nichols 2017-18-19 performance is that he's limited turnovers. Nichols has very visibly declined physically over the past couple seasons, he's very unlikely to improve at this point. Without Harris having all-time great seasons, all time great D and ST play in terms of turning the ball over, field position and keeping TD's off the board, we don't win many games with Nichols level of play and average D/ST. We should expect better at QB. But we can also try to run it back with great D and ST plus Harris carrying us, but as we know from 16-17-18 it's hard to win the games we need to win to get to the Cup, against that level of competition, with a very limited intermediate (10-20 yard) passing game. An OC that can scheme a screen game and consistently use misdirection and play action to his advantage would make any of our QB's better overall. My preference is Streveler 1A/veteran 1B for next season. Nichols could very well be the 1B. The offense for Nichols is basic and already there, we need an OC who can scheme the RPO stuff to suit Streveler and give it a go.

Sure except Nichols #'s are against OTT, TOR, BC, EDM. Collaros went 4-0 against the 3 best opposing D's in the league and didn't turn it over once in the playoffs. Hell of a stretch to try to say Nichols could have done the same, we'll never know.

Nichols had real trouble handling pressure these past two seasons. It changed how defenses schemed against us. Blitz and don't lose track of Harris, do that and our passing game was dead in the water. To me that was the big difference between Nichols and Collaros, Collaros got the ball out quicker when he read pressure, and he also moved very well in the pocket where Nichols was usually quite stationary and not getting around or by anyone. I find it hard to extrapolate how Nichols played vs Hamilton the past 2-3 seasons into a Grey Cup win, but we'll never know. Our D certainly had lots of trouble with Hamilton in the past couple seasons but handled them in the Grey Cup game.

Collaros plays a different game than Matt..he actually sucks at the check down and short pass..look how many times he missed Harris in his starts..and other short ones too..and ones he made were not pretty..he's more an intermediate to long passer Even is Sask his short game sucked Matt can make those throws too..when asked to but wasnt alot because we were very successful in the short game..and it allowed us to control the ball and clock.. so why deviate But...we deviated with Zack because we game planned to his strengths.. and it worked out..If Matt hadnt got hurt we woulda hosted WF...and won...and we also woulda won the cup as Hamilton had no answer to our defense..and Nichols/Strev combo with Harris in beast mode would have scored the same..if not more

I'm not against moving on without Nichols. I generally dislike the lack of respect and disregard the role Nichols played here in providing solid/stable production to our franchise gets. As a season ticket holder, somebody who actually pays to see games (yes I would still get them if I didn't live here, its $250/ticket FFS) he was I instrumental in making it fun to go to games again. I love the guy for what he did, and he is a genuinely good guy. Don't be surprised if he goes somewhere else and immediately makes them better.

It equally easy to go the positive route then say **** you to everyone when the team eventually wins, even if that's only once every 29 years or so.

He was on the roster, so he already has won a Grey Cup.

Ive supported Nichols all season and still do but even the most reverent Nichols supporter has to admit that collaros was much better at executing the offence. And to me the most glaring improvement over Nichols is how Collaros was significantly better at converting on 2nd down and extending drives. Plus eluding the rush.

Nichols not playing took us and won us the Grey Cup. Collaros gets all the credit at the qb position for getting us the cup.

The only applicable stat is the eye test, but you can only use that if your head is lodged firmly in your own ass. I just will not understand how people can ***** so much about a qb who has done nothing but win games for this team since he took over the starting job.

I mean, the guy had an over 71% completion percentage. Some people just make stupid things up.

One guy I don't want to lose is Rigmaiden. BC should have never let him go. As soon as he came on board we actually started successfully developing and finding our own internationals (particularly receivers) as opposed to relying so heavily on FA.

I want all of our guys to come back, at this point I don't even want them to spend money on an American receiver... Lawler and Bailey are fine by me.

Tweedle dee and Tweedle..... The quality of your guys posts are very similar to the stuff I read on riderfans. What is funny is that you guys mock them so much yet literally post the same stuff that they do with the exception of using Nichols instead of Fajardo. Lots of barking but damn sure are quiet when LaPo proves you guys completely wrong when he has a real QB running the offense.

So how come the record with Streveler sucks balls compared to Nichols? And I say that as someone who loves Streveler and thinks he's gonna be an absolute star. He lost games that Nichols woulda won for this team. The only comparison here that makes any sense is for arguing that Collaros is better than Nichols, and he might be, he does keep his eyes downfield better than Nichols, but as others mentioned, he was pretty lucky he didn't rack up some turnovers in the games he did play. over the course of a season those sorts of things do even out.

After watching them block for Harris in the playoffs, I’m almost inclined to agree with you.

As an extremely poor measure of a QB’s effectiveness and I would hope you know that. Do you consider the Bombers’ 3-0 record in the playoffs in non-Nichols’ starts compared to 1-3 with him to be significant? It goes both ways.

People are going to take their shots at Nichols. He was a major part of why this team has become a consistent Cup contender, and now winner. Don't get it twisted, and be respectful of that.
