I bought 2 tickets off of Kijiji for $500 and the year were regular price for around $900. My wife was initially pissed off but my 8 year old son is coming with me. Her tune changed when she saw the tears form in his eyes when he found out we were going on a road trip for the game. Myself and my family have been lucky enough to do a pile of traveling and he said this will be the best trip ever.

I cringe when I think about the coaching wilderness we could find ourselves in if O'Shea were to leave. We've enjoyed sustained success for the first time in a decade. We have players who sign (and re-sign) here because of our coach. (As fans) we now expect to finish at / in the top of our division year over year. This is, in large part, because of the man patrolling the sidelines. Is O'Shea perfect? No. He's still growing as a coach and some may quibble with perceived 'personal traits' (the stubbornness or loyalty he shows to players / staff as an example) but consider this .. he's done more / achieved more (with arguably less talent at the most important position in the CFL) than any other coach. 4 straight years with 10 or more wins. 44 regular season wins. 4 years in the playoffs .. progressing year over year (in the playoffs twice > winning the semi-final > winning the final and going to Grey Cup). I hope he re-signs. I hope we get a deal done sooner rather than later.

CALGARY – Winnipeg Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters says he and Mike O’Shea have a verbal agreement to extend his head-coaching contract, but not a signed one. O’Shea has navigated the Blue Bombers to Sunday’s Grey Cup game in Calgary against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The 49-year-old from North Bay, Ont., is in the final season of a three-year contract extension signed in 2016. “Mike and I … I’ve said at various points this year that Mike has no interest in talking about that sort of stuff during the year,” Walters said Wednesday during Blue Bomber practice. “I’ve looked Mike in eye and told him I want him to be the head coach next year. He’s looked me in the eye and told me he wants to be back. There’s a whole lot of things that go between … getting a signed contract for him. “We’re not going to worry about that. What we talked about is a good start. Him and I will sit down, win or lose, and try and get something sorted out.” O’Shea is in his sixth season as the Bombers’ head coach. The team has reached the playoffs the last four seasons and posted a 44-28 record during that span. A three-time Grey Cup winner as a player with the Toronto Argonauts, Sunday marks his debut as a head coach in the game. (Canadian Press)

Watching the Calgary game at home with the family and, at one point, my daughter gets disgusted with the Bombers and takes off her jersey. She folds it. Sits it down on an end table in the living room, goes to cool off then comes back to watch the game. We go on to win. That jersey has sat .. untouched .. on a table in my living room the last two weeks. My daughter intends to leave it there until after we win the Grey Cup on Sunday.

If Walter's has gone on record as saying what he did...the mutual confirmation of wanting to be, then I would take it as a done deal eventually...and to me that is good news...Oshea is a big draw and gets the best..and most outta guys as a "team" if you ask me If there was trouble in the water, or a pretty good feeling of ways parting..Then Walter's would have just said we have talked about it, but nothing in ways of progress and left it at that...

Use any pre-game beer glass ( Draught beer from kegerator) Game time: Put on Royal Blue Jersey, switch to 20oz "Game-Time" beer glass. I have two identical "Game-Time" beer glasses. I may have mixed them up a few times during the season - my bad. I have been using the right one the past 3 weeks.

The fact that Zach Collaros in one year has won more playoff games than Matt Nichols in three years might change that. If we had a QB who was a needle mover, we easily beat Calgary in the Western Final last year. Are we in the Grey Cup if Nichols is still our starting QB? I highly doubt it.
  25. 4 points
Milt I don't think was ever a huge leader of men on the team. He talked about in the past how he would only be a coach if he could guarantee he had a team of guys like himself. And that's ok. It everyone has to be that kind if leader, but you do need some of those guys. And some people just won't be led no matter how much you try.

Couldn't disagree more, that's a horribly unfair comment. He can absolutely distance himself from it. You have no idea what those teams were like (neither do I). Roberts for example, smoked and didn't work out. BTW he was STILL one the best RB of all time. You're telling me a guy like that is going to "listen" to Milt telling him to go to bed early and put in some extra film study? H-E-L-L N-O/

Did You Know.. The Bombers are the first third-place team since 2005 to win consecutive road playoff games to advance to the Grey Cup. Sunday offers the potential of a Grey Cup classic, a battle of the league’s highest-scoring teams. The Ticats and Bombers ranked first and second in three key areas: points for, offensive points and touchdowns. They also ranked in the top three in explosive plays, run defence and return touchdowns. These teams were a combined plus 15 in regular season turnover ratio Hamilton won both games, the first with Masoli and Nichols at QB, the second with Chris Streveler and Dane Evans as new starting quarterbacks. Winnipeg dominated game stats but not the scoreboard, with more offence, second down conversions, passing and time of possession Hamilton won with major edges in sacks (6-3), turnovers (9-2), and especially average field position (the Ticats started at their own 42 vs. Winnipeg at its own 31). Hamilton also led for almost 100 of the 120 minutes (99:58), with Winnipeg leading just 3:58 in total. Hamilton reached Winnipeg’s red zone nine times, while Winnipeg got closer than the Hamilton 20 just twice. Winnipeg has won the last five games in post-season vs Hamilton; the last Ticats win being the 1989 Eastern Final. Winnipeg has yet to make a post-season turnover in 27 possessions and on 13 kick returns.

https://winnipegsun.com/sports/football/cfl/winnipeg-bluebombers/bombers-gm-walters-thrilled-with-collaros-trade-expects-to-re-sign-coach-oshea Whether the Bombers win or not on Sunday, Walters is going to have his hands full with more personnel moves in the off-season. The first order of business could be to re-sign head coach Mike O’Shea, who is coaching in the Grey Cup for the first time in his six years at the helm. O’Shea’s contract is up and there’s a chance other teams — particularly the Toronto Argonauts — will come seeking his services, but Walters is confident he’ll stay in Winnipeg. “It doesn’t change anything,” Walters said of the Grey Cup appearance. “I’ve said at various points this year that Mike has no interest in talking about that stuff during the year. I’ve looked Mike in the eye and told him I want him to be the head coach next year and he’s looked me in the eye and told me he wants to be back. “There’s a whole lot of things that can go on before getting a signed contract for him, but we’re not gonna worry about that. What we talked about is a good start and he and I will sit down, win or lose, and try to get something worked out.”

Link to the full Coach's unedited press-conference, well worth the 44 minutes. Hilarious comment from O'Shea around the 31 minute mark regarding the character of the players he has in the locker room. To paraphrase, "You spend so many hours a day with these guys, these guys spend so many hours a day together, you just don't want to spend that much time with ass-holes". https://www.cfl.ca/live/2019/11/19/gc107-live-head-coaches-press-conference/

I will never understand the "sexy" factor to fans being the end-all be-all. Nichols has come here and been a winner. Period. Brought the Bombers back not only to respectability but to the top of the West before he got hurt. If you want to diss him, go after his injury history. But people think that this team doesn't follow him and that he doesn't inspire? They were 7-2 and on top of the league with him, FFS!!!! Didn't see any malingerers on the team when he was running the ship. But Big Chris inspires - yeah, all the way to a 4-8 record as a starter the last 2 years. I think people here would fall all over Trevor Harris and his big yardage numbers and not consider that he is sub-.500 as a starter. I swear, if the internet existed when Tom Clements was QB here he would have been run out of town for being too boring and not putting the team on his back with his 3600 yard passing and 24 TDs, oh no don't look at his Grey Cup ring, he's not exciting enough.
