And Chris Streveler is going to throw 54 touchdown passes. Mike Reilly is going to throw for 7200 yards but only 18 TD's, 36 TD's rushing. Kevin Fogg is going to have 2000 missed FG return yards. Charleston Hughes is going to have 54 sacks. James Wilder is going to have 80 carries and Adarius Bowman is going to have 0 catches!

I just wanted to pop on here quickly and let you know there IS help for that. You really don't have to live this way. I've spent the last couple months in a deep dive into mental illness, depression and anxiety. There's meds and there's therapy....and it WORKS....trust me. You don't have to live that way.... Carry on...

It is amazing that we are not complaining about the 23 year old Rookie QB that took the field and scored three touchdowns.. Rather how the D was not able to make a stop to win the game or send it in to OT. Strevler played better then i expected showed a lot of promise.. If he does the same in montreal, we will likely come out with a win. It was nice to see his dad in stands cheering and looking so happy!

The mere fact that fans are talking about the loss, and the way we lost, instead of how we played a rookie 23 yr. old QB and were this close to snagging a victory, should be brought up time and time again. Last year, and the backup QBs we had, we would have been out of this game early with no chance to come back. Channel the inner Streveler, and revel in the fact that we have a real back up QB. The wins will be coming soon..

yes, very impressed with our rookie QB. Too bad we couldn't get him a win, but hey, losing to Mike Reilly isn't exactly cause to feel too much shame. We'll get em next time.

I like how we were pretty aggressive with Streveler however with a minute twenty on the clock after a poor kickoff return there's no excuse for not keeping the ball on the ground and keeping the clock running. That 2 and 0 killed us there. You run on first and run a draw play on second. If you make a big play then you go more aggressive. You don't leave Edmonton the maximum amount of clock there.

Exactly right, and what happened was they started a rookie QB who was playing in a thunderstorm against the reigning MOP as well as one of the top MLBs in the league and they lost on a last second field goal. Not too bad given the circumstances.

The offence was really good, better than could have reasonably been expected. Defence was not good and worse than reasonably expected.

He's really good at it but I've seen him get sacked before. He is not invincible. The problem here is that we are going to have to beat Reilly to win the Grey Cup. It's not okay that the DL got zero sacks because Reilly is evasive... I don't buy it. They simply have to be better.
  16. 2 points
No need to over react to anything. Close game that could have gone the other way but Reilly and the esks receivers did what they do. Reilly tosses up bombs and the receivers make great catches for him. What makes that team a challenge. They can do nothing and all of a sudden make one play that changes things.

I vehemently disagree. Jeffcoat and Roh were in the backfield all night, Jeffcoat especially was eating the Eskimo tackles alive. Okpalaugo had a couple hurries. Nevis was dominant. Corney played well off the edge when he came in. There is a big continued issue with discipline that is costing us sacks, guys not staying in their rush lanes and over pursuing. The main culprits are JSK and Poop. Poop is very inconsistent and started losing reps to Thomas again. If he plays like he did Thursday for a couple more games I think we'll see Bryant. The blitzing linebackers through the middle every passing down just becomes predictable. They need to switch that up and have someone spy the QB to clean up when a guy like Reilly moves around the pocket and sometimes out of it when pressure comes. The biggest issue I see with this defense is how they use the safety position, and maybe what Loffler's abilities are in coverage. It's hard to tell between the two what the issue is. There's not a lot of support at the top of routes for our DB's. You get into a position where they get isolated a lot downfield and you end up with PI's or big plays. I mean they could make 2/3 plays but that 1 is still a 40+ yard gain because of the heavy amount of cover 0/1 we play with LB's always blitzing on passing downs, Loffler blitzing a lot and being asked to cover the whole field in cover 1. The aggressiveness of the blitzing isn't resulting in the big plays for the D often enough to make up for the big plays they give up. There needs to be a balance there and some deception so the QB can't count our LB's as rushers or guys in coverage with certainty every down.

Ray wasn't getting a lot of time from his OL and he's not exactly a scrambling QB. Once the Riders took Wilder out of the equation, the game was tipped in their favour. If Trestman challenges for PI on the int returned for a TD, Toronto might have pulled it out. (Ball wasn't tipped and the DB hit Green before the ball got there = PI)

There QB is the best in the league played really good. Is going to do this to a lot of teams in this league. If Nichols plays we score 40 and probably win.

pretty much every game there is a bust...or two...and huge impact plays that make a guy look inept and horrible...thats football. The two biggest plays in my opinion..The 2 point convert and the Walker Td were plays that if were to happen exactly again would or could go in our favor...and back and forth it goes...**** happens Hardly an indicator after one game...the first game with all the regulars that the scheme and personnel are suspect...give it 3-4 games first

Yup, last year the bombers were playing so so football. It was that montreal come back that really turned it on and that was in week...4? I think anyway. Losing is no fun, but a week one loss isn't a season ending disaster. Especially when it's a loss like the one last night.

I’m so bloody happy they went with Streveller. Same thing I said in the chat last week: I’d rather see an exciting offence that takes chances and makes some mistakes than a 2-and-out machine, which is what we would’ve seen under Ross. Streveller has a similar at style to Collaros pre-injury, or even Reilly, whereas Ross is similar to Brohm, post-injury Willy, etc.

I kinda hope we get to see him truck another DB/LB and I kinda dont. if he get hurt while running for yards.. oof.

I am not convinced that the esks OL is great, I think Reilly is the key there. He is a slippery bugger who is hard to sack and is a leading to escape and keep plays alive.
