Clock should have ran when Ottawa lined up. So don't grasp the nuances of how clocks work in the cfl? Time doesn't start until the refs blow it in regardless of out of bounds or not
June 27, 20169 yr comment_203846 Canadian football games have to end with a play. If time is blown in with 19 seconds or less left in a quarter the team with the ball can run a play even if the clock hits 0:00 before the ball is snapped. Edited June 27, 20169 yr by JuranBoldenRules
June 27, 20169 yr comment_203858 The referee blew the play in which is why the clock was running. The RedBlacks then started to change their personnel which should have resulted in an illegal substitution penalty. Time has to expire while a play is going on.

On the TV broadcast the line judge lowering the gates is visible on the Ottawa sideline. That said the Eskimos blew it themselves. They should have been able to kill that clock on offence.
June 27, 20169 yr Author comment_203966 Ottawas never got put up. That's why they had to allow them to substitute.
June 27, 20169 yr comment_203970 For those of us who missed it... was Burris replaced b/c of injury or poor play?

June 27, 20169 yr comment_203990 Freak injury as well. Took a snap and bent his pinky back. He'll be fine and back starting in no time. Not as bad as the Edmonton player holding his hand up for the cameras with one finger going a really weird way. That looked real painful. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/cfl-55-yard-line/video--discretion-advised---deon-lacey-realizes-fingers-don-t-bend-that-way-025640094.html
June 28, 20169 yr comment_204136 Credit to the Lions/Stamps game for providing both the runner-up and the winner for dumbest coach's challenges of the season, and accomplishing it in the span of 5 minutes.

O'Shea's challenge of Willy's tackle at the 5 has to be a runner up, he threw away a timeout and every one except Willy could see that it was well short.

Dan Barnes @jrnlbarnes @Breakerdog @CFL_News Got answer for you from CFL's Glen Johnson. Ref mistakenly blew play in despite Ottawa not finished subs. 1/2
