October 6, 20159 yr comment_159108 WINNIPEG, MB., October 6, 2015 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the additions of defensive lineman Jamarkus McFarland, receiver Desmond Lawrence, running back/returner Jeff Scott, defensive lineman Roy Philon, and defensive lineman Leon Mackey. All players are Internationals. McFarland (6’2, 305, Oklahoma, November 26, 1990 in Lufkin, TX) played four years with the Sooners, where he suited up for 47 games — starting 22. After going undrafted in the 2014 NFL draft, McFarland signed with the Chargers, where spent training camp. In May 2015 he came to the CFL, signing with the Lions. He’s played in one game for B.C. this season and he registered two tackles. Lawrence (5’10, 181, North Carolina A&T, December 19, 1991 in Durham, N.C.) caught 79 balls over two seasons with the Aggies, totalling 789 yards and five touchdowns. During that span he added three more touchdowns on the ground, and also spent time returning kickoffs, averaging 27 yards per return. He also excelled in Track & Field, holding the school record for the 100 meter with a time of 10.24 seconds. Lawrence spent time in the NFL with the Lions and Bengals earlier in 2015. Scott (5’7, 167, Ole Miss, January 26, 1991 in Miami, Fla.) ranks fourth all-time for the Rebels in all-purpose yards with 3,668. His 2,297 career rushing yards are good for sixth all-time at the school, and his 20 touchdowns are 10th best. In 2013, Scott was on the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, which is given to the most versatile player in college football. After his final year in 2014, he was selected to play in the College All-Star Bowl. Philon (6’3, 291, Louisville, March 26, 1991 in Lexington, KY) played four years with the Cardinals, the best of which came in his senior year when he notched 41 tackles, 12 for a loss, and four sacks. That year he was a part of the #1 Total Defence in college football. After going undrafted, Philon spent time on the practice roster with the Steelers, Bears, and most recently Lions. Mackey (6’5, 260, Texas Tech, February 28, 1989 in Wilmington, DE) was an All Big-12 honourable mention after his senior year in 2012. In 2014, Mackey spent time with the Arizona Rattlers in the AFL. That post-season, Mackey contributed three sacks en-route to a league title. His AFL performance earned him an NFL training camp invite the following year with the Vikings.

October 6, 20159 yr comment_159111 I would say the practice roster has just been expanded. Those are some big schools these boys are from, interesting.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159115 Jeebus.....Lawrence is fast. 10.27/100....that's world class sprinter speed. He would probably be the fastest guy in the CFL in a straight line.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159119 Jamarkus McFarland was on BC's PR as of 3 days ago & I can't find anything saying he was released so did we steal him from their PR (meaning he has to be on the roster this week?)
October 6, 20159 yr Author comment_159124 Two minutes in but this has to be one of the worst highlight tapes I've ever seen for a defensive end.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159126 McFarland is a monster from a huge program... What the hell let's him get to the CFL
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159127 Desmond Lawrence doesn't look football fast to me. Not expecting much.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159133 Jeff Scott is my main prospect here. He checks all the boxes for me. This guy reminds me of Blink more than any to date.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159140 Jeff Scott is my main prospect here. He checks all the boxes for me. This guy reminds me of Blink more than any to date. We desperately need a replacement for Walker. Lets hope Scott is both good and durable.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159141 Jamarkus McFarland, i am guessing is playing this week or getting a game cheque , interesting

October 6, 20159 yr comment_159150 Don't matter which one Joe Hill or Scott, as long as Walker takes a walk ...
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159181 Chevon Walker at this point is a waste of a down every time they go to him.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159186 I only see Chevon Walker's being here because he is a CFL veteran, and could pretty much step in as a veteran RB. It was either him or Nic Grisby sort of thing. As to his abilities, I'll hand that off to the more informed, but I do have to chuckle as to the critique of his production, because as I look back to the running back production, in the Bomber's last couple of years, or longer, it is few and far between times where we have had a good running attack.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_159190 Kirk Penton @PentonKirk Looks like Da'Rel Scott might be the second running back this week. I don't see Chevon Walker anywhere. #Bombers
