Question for the old timers. Lots of these qb injuries this year. .. Durant Collaros Willy... Lulay even.. pretty much did it to themselves. Wondering if the field turf is to blame for this. Did this happen lots when grass was used instead

The turf they use now with the rubber pellets is much, much better than the Tartan or Astro Turf that was used up until maybe a decade ago when this new technology came out. In the days of natural grass field vs artificial turf there was more forgiveness with natural turf. On natural grass, when a player cut his cleats didn't just stop because the traction was so good with artificial turf, it may have slipped slightly from momentum on natural grassthus allowing less force to be applied to knee & ankle joints than today when tackled so there was more forgiveness on a players joints.

So,back in the day the injuries weren't as frequent. Proof of that is the fact teams played 16 regular game seasons with a month of training camp & four pre season games with a 32 man roster & 4 man taxi squad. teams would have injuries but not to the extent it destroyed the roster although depth was always an issue.

Just as likely improvement in foot gear could be contributing to the rise in injuries, players plant their foot and there is not enough give.

So what you're saying is that "Rider Green" is like herpes?   Never goes away but flares up once in awhile?

  • If Walters leaves (he will only do so if he chooses to take the job in Guelph) John Murphy should be the man targeted by Miller.

  • sweep the leg

"Do you know who I am?" posts are generally met with positivity.

Players keep getting bigger and faster and stronger is it any wonder players are getting hurt? in addition the extra DI on rosters is really allowing defences to rule and when defence is on top it means offensive players are getting hit.

Bigger, stronger, faster & wearing less equipment than ever before.  And the equipment doesn't fit properly. Receivers especially wear undersized shoulder pads which sets them up for more shoulder & arm injuries. You see it on both offensive & defensive lines with players wearing less protective padding. Check out Alex Hall's shoulder pads next time the Riders play as he actually looks like he isn't wearing any.

Helmets are not properly inflated. Players take them on & off like baseball caps. They fly off when there is a hit because they aren't properly inflated. No way are they supposed to come off that easily if they're properly inflated. If they were, players would need  2 hands to put on their helmet. Not grabbing their helmets by the face mask & just popping them on.

Helmets aren't properly inflated because they're uncomfortable to wear so players don't like them as they are very tight. If they aren't properly inflated then how can these new helmets protect from concussions? They can't & they don't. Next game, watch how easily the players take off their helmets on the sidelines. It's not supposed to be that way. In this day of concussion protocols & lawsuits it is mind boggling a league directive hasn't come down for every team's equipment staff to make sure all helmets are inflated properly & then to hide the pumps so the players can't let the air out when no one is around.

The B.C. Lions have signed former #Eskimos LB Rennie Curran. #CFL

Wonder how long that agreement is for .. BC is going to be DEEP at LB next season if Elimimian returns to form ..

I'm curious to know what it took to get Curran to come out of this "hold-out" type thing he was doing... money or finally accepting the NFL would not come calling...

without question B. The NFL is already going and no one is calling they're not likely to sign you now after deciding they didn't want you all offseason.

If the Lions weren't in trouble before they sure are now. Reports are that Beck will out for a lengthy amount of time. Looks like Jonathan Jennings will be starting for them and they have Greg McGhee on their active roster and RJ Archer on the PR. Between the 3 of them they have a total of 29 pass attempts in the CFL.

Wow! That's brutal. Not good for the league. Jennings didn't look too bad though last game. Might be some decent potential there.

As per Twitter, Argos sign Justin Palardy......#WhereAreTheyNowFile

They have two kickers named Palardy now... the other being an American named Michael.  Get ready to hear that fact about 300 times during the next Argo game.

Can you imagine if Rod Black is calling the game!

No. I refuse to. Its bad enough having to endure him let alone pre-traumatizing myself.
