May 7, 201510 yr comment_118241 The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are pleased to announce the addition of National defensive lineman Jamaal Westerman. Westerman (6-3, 260, Rutgers, February 21, 1985 in Brooklyn, New York) has spent the past six seasons in the National Football League. “Jamaal was highly recruited throughout the CFL this off-season and we are very grateful and fortunate he chose the Winnipeg Blue Bombers,” said Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. “He’s a big, physical defensive end who we feel can be an immediate impact player on our roster. In addition, his Canadian status is a major plus and really a ratio changing addition for us.” Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets in 2009, Westerman appeared in 58 games through six seasons. He amassed 62 tackles, six sacks, four fumble recoveries and one forced fumble, while adding 27 special-teams tackles. He has spent time with the Jets (2009-11), Arizona (2012), Indianapolis (2012), Buffalo (2013) and Pittsburgh (2013). Westerman played his collegiate football at Rutgers where he appeared in 50 games, registering 141 tackles and 26 sacks.
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118244 Absolutely huge signing. I originally thought the Bombers were going to go after him earlier this offseason. You can learn a lot from who follows who on Twitter. But then all those reports that BC and Toronto were strong after him came out and I figured we were out of luck. This is huge for us.
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118245 Now we just need Bilikudi and Mulumba and we are set. What's the status on Henoc? Is he on the bubble with the Colts?
May 7, 201510 yr Author comment_118246 Man in just over a year Walters has done a great job building the Canadian depth on this team

NT, 3-techinque DT or on the DE ?

May 7, 201510 yr comment_118252 Great signing. Passport + NFL Experience. What more could you ask for? IMHO Waud be a good choice as his backup to change the ratio.

May 7, 201510 yr comment_118256 David William Naylor ✔ @TSNDaveNaylor Wpg signs Canadian defensive end Jamaal Westernan, 6-year NFL vet. Great signing by Wpg. Contract will pay him between $165-$175K. #bombers
May 7, 201510 yr Author comment_118257 I'm told the #Bombers won the Westerman sweepstakes to the tune of $165,000, which shows what they think of him. #CFL — Kirk Penton (@PentonKirk) May 7, 2015
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118258 Adding a Canadian end who presumably can play 35-40 snaps a game is big. Thomas should be able to handle the rest on the interior. Still need Canadian depth on D. I'm not a fan of the assumption that this signing means the Bombers have solidified 3 NI spots on D. We're still one injury at LB or DL from a ratio nightmare. Don't think this signing impacts who the Bombers will draft.
May 7, 201510 yr Author comment_118261 It's the cost of having high end Canadian talent it's worth it
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118262 Twitter suggesting Bombers will only start one Canadian receiver now.
May 7, 201510 yr Author comment_118263 You now have 7 sure fire starting Canadians on the roster and now have 3-4 guys who can step up need be for a a game or two in a starting role.
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118264 Twitter suggesting Bombers will only start one Canadian receiver now. That's coming from Darrin Bauming.. oh and Ed Tait.
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118265 I'm sure plenty of people will be scared by the price tag, but the reality is that this guy is going to be consuming a ton of snaps for us as a Canadian starter at an impact position. And has the potential to be very effective at it.
May 7, 201510 yr comment_118270 A dominate CDN at any starting position is worth that kind of money. Maybe more. What do you think Foley is making and who's going to play better?
